  1. In the immortal words of Samuel L.Jackson a.k.a. Jules Winfield from Pulp Fiction: "This is a tasty burger!"
I ordered the, "Avenue" well done. It consisted of Swiss cheese, bacon, caramelized onions, roasted red peppers and Siracha hot sauce. The bun was grilled perfectly and the burger was cooked perfectly. I loved the flavors of the sweet onions with the saltiness of the bacon. The roasted red peppers and the Siracha sauce were perfect together. Fries come with the burgers and I paid the extra $1 to make mine sweet potato fries. The fries were just, "OK" but the burger was great and that's what matters. (At least to me.) The shakes were delicious! So thick don't even try to suck it through a straw until it's melted a little. Use a spoon if you can't wait. I got the peanut butter cup shake. Vanilla ice cream with peanut butter syrup and peanut butter cups. It was outstanding! The counter people were all polite as well. I don't think there was one working there who was over 25 years old but that doesn't factor into it.
I'm not sure what some of the reviews were talking about when some mentioned, "greasy buns." They were not greasy. Or another complained that the shakes were, "too thick." Well duh! You want a shake to be thick! What do you want? A soupy shake?? Another said that the place was, "dirty" with, "garbage on the floor." Definitely not. I looked around myself and saw nothing on the floor.
As I've stated before, some people are simply never happy.
So if you want a great burger, check it out. Central Burger is good and I'll be back!

  2. So, on a day off I decided to treat my son to an old-fashioned burger joint…there simply aren't many places like this around and I wanted him to experience a little bit of my youth.

Because this was my first time here I wanted to try a couple things so I ordered a chili cheese dog and a cheddar cheese burger.  My son ordered a plain burger with bacon…the burgers here come with fries, which is how it SHOULD be.  Here's the kicker about Central Burgers and a big reason I will be back…the shakes.  Listen, I'm ALL about a burger joint having shakes on the menu…a burger and a shake go hand in hand in my opinion and if you're gonna serve burgers you BETTER serve shakes (are you listening all you Five Guys places that still don't have shakes???).  Anyway, the shakes here are so damn good because they use Nasto's Ice Cream…and if you've never HAD Nasto's Ice Cream Then take your butt into the Ironbound section of Newark and treat yourself.

I ordered the black and white shake (chocolate and vanilla side by side in the cup) and my son ordered the Reese's peanut butter cup shake…he licked the side of the cup and used his fingers to get the rest out…SO.DAMN.GOOD!!!

As for the food, the burgers were really good…mine needed a touch of salt, but was otherwise great.  They came out a little closer to well done than medium, but they were still very good.  We also like the fries…they LOOK like Five Guys fries, but were actually much better tasting.  My chili cheese dog was ok, I gave it a try, but will stick to their burgers from now on.

Parking can be tough around here depending on the time of day, but I really recommend giving Central Burger a try – I really hope they have a long and prosperous run because there just aren't many places like this around anymore.
