This is old faithful, just a few short blocks from my house. I usually pick something off their specials of the day and have never been terribly disappointed, especially for the price. For under 10 bucks you can pick up a meal that's typically enough to leave a full plate of leftovers. That's assuming you're not bulking like me or it's not arms day at the gym (which is every day), in which case this giant meal makes a nice meal to hold you over in between meals, na'mean? While you make your selection, consider that this establishment would be considered a jack of all trades, master of none. It has a mild Colombian theme with local Cuban influence showing in the sandwich options and black beans with handful of other nations in between, including whatever country tuna sandwiches are from. The staff is friendly and efficient. The interior is bright and clean, all you could ask for in a corner joint. I wish they'd change their name, I think that would bring a spike in new clients but then again, this place is rarely empty so maybe if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
My girlfriend and I were going to eat here the other day but it was PACKED! A few days later we were able to get a seat and we're glad we did. It was around lunch time and I got the steak in creole sauce with red beans and my girlfriend got the pork, ham, and cheese sandwich. Both were delicious and we ended up with enough leftover for lunch. All in all the food came quick, was fresh and delicious, and the meal came to $20 with tip and an appetizer. Hard to beat that!
Another great meal here – I had the Steak and Fried Eggs, which arrived with a side of potatoes and everything was great. I also ordered a sweet corn arepa along with a guava pastry and those were also excellent.
I'm so glad this place is here!
This is the local colombian diner around the corner literally from my apartment. I was so pleasantly surprised by the food quality and the great service from the wait staff. Yes, their english is limited but hey my spanish is very limited so there.
– Churrasco: big, juicy, flavorful and cooked just right
– Roasted Chicken: big, falls of the bones tender, not too much skin and good seasoning.
– Chicken soup: drives your cold away good
– Shrimp with spicy sauce: pour that sauce all over your rice and forget about the beans.
I was in Colombia couple of years ago and I think the food at this restaurant is better tasting. I cannot wait for the next meal. I must try their sandwiches or empanadas de colombia.
Stopped in here earlier today to pick up some food for dinner for myself, a friend and my boyfriend.
Small place, dinner was ready as soon as I arrived, nice workers, they accept debit cards.
For $33.00 there was a lot of food. However, we all came to realize this place put quantity way before quality. We ordered chicharron, yucca, chicharron de pollo in a garlic sauce, chicken cordon bleu, rice, beans and tostones which we all split.
The rice and beans were average, the tostones was way too soft, the yucca was just really soggy, the chicharron was not fresh and horrible compared to other places within the area. The chicken cordon bleu was decent, it came in a nice red sauce and the chicharron de pollo in a garlic sauce was extremely bland. The free flat bread that came with our meal though was just awesome (definitely the best part of the meal).
Overall in my eyes a complete disappointment especially due to the fact that I have had this place bookmarked for awhile mainly because of all of the fantastic reviews.
