  1. Beautiful restaurant! I don't know why this isn't a big happening spot. The interior is gorgeous and the cabana booths are to die for! It's pretty much a swanky NYC restaurant/lounge but instead of the city hustle and bustle it's next to a Honda dealership and a place that makes light up signs.

I'd definitely return. Great place for a date when you want to stay local and the nightlife is pretty decent. Don't expect a fist pumping club though. It's a nice lounge to grab a drink with friends and feel swanky.

Plus Dina Manzo and Danielle Staub filmed RHONJ here and had a fight. If it's bougey enough for those Bravo people, it's good enough for some North Jersey folk.

  2. Rob the bartender was amazing! I'll tell you why.
He knew his shit! I was throwing recipes at him, he was throwing it right back. We spoke about different bourbons and he showed me a few from the shelves. I was so impressed. I wanted him to make me something special, something I never had. It was called the Rebel. Similar to an old fashion but the fruits were infused black cherries and a slice of orange, all smashed up with a few basil leaves! My jaw dropped when I had my first sip. The smooth oak taste with a light basil finish was something I'd never imagine. When he went on to prepare the espresso martini, requested by someone special with special instructions, he nailed it! Rob was so entertaining and friendly that I couldn't keep him too long to ourselves since he had to take care of other customers at the bar. Nevertheless, we did enjoy hearing his funny bartending stories. Oh do I miss bartending!

Because we were so into the drinks and had a light lunch earlier in the day. I pushed to order food before getting too BLITZ! It was fried calamari and chicken nuggets to share. Recommend both. And , no they are not McDonald's chicken nuggets. Inside: tender – juicy and white. Outside- soft crisp crunch, smother with what I like to call BBQ sauce. Mmm-mmm!
With the calamari, I thought it was fried perfectly. Freshness in every bite. Even the fried hot peppers were fresh. And the two sauces were SAVORY!

Bottom line, Rob did a great job in providing us with festive experience.
    I will be back again.

  3. Love this spot!  If you want a great date spot with flavorful food, this is the place to be!  Very romantic atmosphere and good service.  I highly recommend the foie gras pizza!  It was so tasty and flavorful.  The texture was really nice too.  They have a full bar, although I was disappointed they didn't have any mint for mojitos.  The prices are a little high, but you get what you pay for.  The ambiance.  The food. The service.

  4. Decor: 5 star; food: 2 star; service: 3 star

The building really doesn't look that attractive from the outside and you would've never thought there'd be a huge parking lot in the back (which was almost full when we came in at 8:45pm on Saturday night). As recommended, we sat at the bar to get a drink while waiting to be seated. Not sure what the point of that was, as the hostess came for us even before we had a chance to take a sip. Fine. We took it with us to our table. We got a corner table seat on the couch, which was awesome.
The waiter was a bit standoffish and never smiled. He didn't come by often either, so I had to ask one of the other waiters to get me another drink.

First thing the waiter tells us is that "there's no specials tonight." We ended up ordering the marinated grilled tofu and grilled Portuguese octopus as appetizers, and the salmon medallion and chili-cinnamon glazed Chilean sea bass for dinner. All of our dishes were meh. I was utterly disappointed with how the food did not match up to the price or the overall feel of the restaurant.  The salmon was a bit dry, and the dressing/sauce was a bit too salty while being a bit nauseatingly creamy. The Chilean sea bass – and fyi, we asked if the cinnamon would be a bit overpowering (to which the waiter answered no), was just pathetic. It didn't taste fresh, and in fact, the cinnamon shouldn't even be considered in making that dish because yes, it was overpowering. The one and only somewhat good thing was the grilled Portugese octopus. But how hard is that to make? The grilled marinated tofu was likewise unimpressive. The table next to us ordered sushi rolls and they looked like they were cut with a very old knife, with seaweed pulling off the edges of each piece.  Glad we voted against it.

Now, for the decor – holy cow. I was NOT expecting the beautiful atmosphere. There's little stars on the ceiling and I loved the added touch of curtains throughout – made me feel like I was in a cabana on a starry summer night. With that said.. again, the food sucked. The drinks were fine – for the price, could be better. This place is a NJ restaurant with very very low subpar food with near-NYC prices. The restaurant itself gave off an NYC feel, but nothing more.

  5. I want to preface by saying that I rate restaurants first and foremost on 3 main things: the food, the service and the ambiance.

My friends threw me a surprise 30th intimate birthday dinner here on a Friday evening, and it was definitely a great ambiance for a classy but low key dinner experience.

Our waiter was not too friendly, nor did he seem to enjoy serving our table, and we all felt that vibe throughout the dinner. We ordered some appetizers but focused mainly on the main dish and all ordered something different. The sushi for appetizers as well as the beet salad were delicious, and everyone was very pleased with their dinner as well.

I believe that when you are celebrating a birthday (especially a 30th) in an establishment that is rather expensive and classy, you expect the service to match the price and quality of the meal. That was not the case for our dinner experience. Our disinterested waiter forgot to bring out the cupcakes that were made for me and given to him before dinner to place in fridge, and brought out a plate with a raspberry (let me reiterate..ONE raspberry), with a candle inside. We could not stop laughing at how mortifying and ridiculous it looked on a plate (cupcakes were brought out after my friend reminded him).

The one thing that I think really stood out for me, is the fact that they charged for ICE…yes ice in the knob creek drinks the men ordered that night. It wasn't special ice such as a whiskey ball, but plain tiny bits of ice. I've dined in many fine dining establishments and michelin star restaurants globally, and have never been charged for plain ice.

So in summary, food 4 stars, ambiance 4-5 stars, service and waitstaff 2 stars

  6. This review is for bar/cocktails only as I did not come for dinner. Chakra has more of a loungey feel to it than I expected. The ambience is definitely there; dim lighting (so much so that our server shined a flashlight so we could see the menu) and large couches and plush pillows in the bar section. It's intimate and sexy!

They have a solid cocktail menu that will cost you about $13 a pop. My friend spoke highly of the lychee martini which I tried and it was really light, fresh, and not too sweet- (I usually opt against ordering cocktails bc they are too sickeningly sweet). I had the pama sutra which was basically a pomegranate cocktail which was also really delicious and tart without being overly sweet. The beer menu isn't too extensive but they had a few local brews on tap. Probably wouldn't come here for drinks if you are a beer person though. For 4 people and 2 rounds each our tab came out to about $100. It's a bit pricey but I think it's a nice treat for a special night out.

  7. Came here with a group of friends. This place is quite lavish looking. The theme is great, the designs suit it so well. Definitely a lovely place. The old Indian sculptures in the wall all the way to the lighting provide quite a unique vibe. I think this place would be better off as a nice lounge. The food was severely lacking taste to me. It looks great and presentation wise you definitely get a high end vibe here, but actual taste of food was just mediocre at best. I truly mean that lol, it was medicore. I understand that not everyone has similar taste buds and some people might find the taste great, but sitting at a table with 3 other people and 3 different palates……we all felt the same, in fact my buddy said the place deserves two stars. I just appreciate the vibe and decor more than he did.
Out of the food we ordered the most memorable was the sushi but was a tad bit overpriced.

The hanger steak, it was above average.

The worst had to be the truffle fries. Just eww,  I mean I feel the word truffle was abused when it came to these fries. Never again should those fries be served unless you just love potatoes.

That being said, if you are all about high end feel, you will enjoy this place visually but I just think the food was bland and not worthy of me paying this place a visit again.

Tons of places that better tasting food for a fraction of the price, and there a tons of places that have just as good art and high end vibe that are less pricey with better food 🙂

No offense to any of you fans of this place!

  8. Came here twice, each time there was something missing. I absolutely love the atmosphere here. The outside is very blank and easy to pass. The inside is very easy on the eyes very trendy decor. The menu however was pricy and not amazing. I'm glad to have gone but after two times have no plans in returning.
