The food was just bad. Our first sign was how fast our food came out. Our app was incredibly salty. The other dishes were bland, salty, or just bad. The ingredients were not fresh and the Hunan favors weren't really there. I can't speak for the American Chinese food.
The decor was typical of a Chinese restaurant. Definitely not fancy. Definitely didn't hire an interior designer. The table clothe color is gross. The hanging lights are hideous. The Neon lights are ridiculous. The Valentine Day decor was a mystery as the restaurant opened in June. The layout was also confusing.
Service was inattentive and mediocre.
Pricing was very reasonable for quantity.
Very solid place so far. Great replacement for the unremarkable Empire Asian Fusion that was in this spot. Was pleasantly surprised to see an authentic Chinese restaurant on Main Street Metuchen. Plus, it's better than MeeMah (Edison) and Dragon Palace (also in Edison).
Everything I've had – scallion pancakes, beef noodle soup, chicken with broccoli (they have an Americanized Chinese section at the end of the menu), ChangSha stir fry noodles – has been decent or better. The pan fried dumplings are the bomb. Service is above average for a Chinese place if you know what I mean.
