I was pleasantly surprised to see a Chatime in the Upper East Side, but considering there isn't another bubble tea place in probably a mile radius, it's smart placement for the business. And once I saw the prices, I understood why: $4 for a medium grapefruit green tea with no bubbles? Yikes! I'm so used to the.Flushing locations offering 2-for-1 drinks that I'm pretty sure I gawked at the counter girl. To make up for that, they offer a punch card for buy 5 get 1 free. Another interesting thing: this location serves crepes and beef noodle soup? Whaaat?
Aside from the price, the place has a back area with quite a few seats, and they really do a good job maintaining cleanliness. My friend and I must have seen one of the employees mop the same floor three times in the 1.5 hours we were there, even though there were only one or two others occupying the space. The unisex restroom is clean too.
I'm not sure when I'll be back here since it's not convenient for me, but I wouldn't mind coming back.
The drink offerings are normal. Nothing special.
The place seems cozy with plenty of seats. It also has an outdoor area.
This place also offers free Wi-Fi
Overall, it is a decent place to have drinks and chill with friends.
This is the only ChaTime in New York that I trust with my Tie Guang Yin latte. Tie Guang Yin, black tea native to southern China is pressed and squeezed into concentrated drips as it pours out via their espresso machine. Which is topped with foamy steam milk with just the right consistency and smoothness to qualify it as a latte.
This is the only bubble tea shop in the over saturated market of bubble tea competitions out there that serves such a specialty tea, and I give ChaTime my hat off for that. However their locations elsewhere in the boroughs either are just too busy to get the drink right, or think I'm crazy for being so meticulous over a bubble tea.
Top the drink off with some pudding and you have yourself a tea latte perfection (sorry no latte art here).
-1star as the service here do tend to be inefficient and slower than I'd prefer.
Considering the location, they get their fair share of college kids from Hunter a few blocks away. Come early to avoid being sucked in that chaos.
I stopped in real quick to get some bubble tea! There really aren't many options for boba near the UES, so this was really the only thing close to lex. I got the Red Bean Pearl Bubble tea and it was pretty mediocre — really sweet, nothing too special. The red beans were pretty hard to eat..
I know the boba scene in New York isn't the best, but this was only so-so. The oolong I got was not rich enough and was too sweet. They do have a cute little garden in the back for you to enjoy your tea and there were plenty of med students there studying.
Yum! So many great selections of bubble tea and I can't wait to come back and try more! They also have a cute outdoor area, which makes you forget you're on the crowded streets of Manhattan, and plenty of seating inside where you can sit down and connect to the free wifi.
Although I do have the agree with some other reviews that this chain is more expensive than other boba places, I still come here at least once a month,
They have a great reward system: buy 5 drinks and get one free !
The girls behind the counter is always super friendly and patient.
My go to drink is Grapefruit green tea with aloe. Their most popular drink is probably the matcha smoothie with red bean, i have seen at least one person order this everytime Im at Chatime.
This place is just a-okay. It was pretty empty when we came in but that didn't stop us. Ordered a taro milk tea and normally it would be chilled or cold right? Wrong! Mine was rather lukewarm and I can taste the powder mixture and it's not as sweet like other places. Would probably skip out next time and go to Kung fu tea where their teas are on fleek!
