Another fabulous meal at Chef Wang's!
The meal as follows:
California Roll – Standard california roll with super fresh ingredients.
Spare Ribs – Melt off the bone delicious
Pan Fried Pork Dumplings – these were the biggest and best tasting dumplings i have ever had ANYWHERE!
Dan Dan noodles – Warm and spicy and this was out second time ordering these. So good that you want to dance afterwards.
The dinner.
Crispy Duck- this is not on the menu, but they will make it for you. The duck is a smokey duck fried with a crispy topping. This is not your ordinary crispy duck. This is the extraordinary crispy duck.
Wang's chicken and broccoli – this dish has a very lovely taste of lemon. Sometimes when lemon is involved with a dish you can hardly tell there is lemon in the dish. You won't be disappointed if you love chicken and broccoli.
Sweet and Sour Chicken – I ordered this with a side of spicy garlic oil. Oh good gosh was it so good adding that spicy oil to the dish. The warmth of the oil was so good and not overbearing.
This was G's birthday so I was able to sneek the tiramisu cake in without him seeing it and it was a total surprise.
If you enjoy spicy or not, this restaurant will cater to whatever your tastebuds desire. We are definite regulars here!
This has been rated in Newsday as one of the top chinese restuarants in Long Island. I feel it deserves this honor. I had General Tso chicken and it was juicy not dry. The atmosphere was that of a typical big chinese restaurant. The waiter was very friendly and was very personable with us.
We live about 5 minutes away driving and have been hesitantly wanting to try this place out. I'm always wary of Chinese restaurants in the area just because I don't want to eat "fake" Americanized Chinese food – if I wanted that there a take-out restaurant nearby that is not quite as expensive.
So yesterday we took the plunge and decided to try two dishes from their menu as testers – braised beef noodle soup and pickled mustard with pork noodle soup. I also ordered a scallion pancake for our son.
I ordered via Seamless and the food was ready in around 10-15 minutes.
Both noodle soups came in huge portions, expertly packed with noodle and soup separated so that the soup wouldn't be sucked up by the noodles.
The beef noodle soup is SPICY. My husband thought the soup had great beef flavor and was extremely authentic. Definitely better than a few of the restaurants in Flushing.
My pickled mustard and pork noodle soup was extremely flavorful and the soup was on point. I had almost 1/3 leftover after sharing with our son.
Priced at around $9/each, I originally thought it was a tad expensive but factoring in the flavor and portions, feel that it was a great value.
The next day, we ended up ordering lunch specials – tofu with baby shrimp over rice and the three roll special (spider roll, shrimp tempura roll and spicy salmon roll). The rice came with a soup and I chose salad for the rolls.
Again, both meals came expertly packed and of a good portion size. I love that Chef Wang offers lunch specials on Sunday's too, which seems rare.
Good portions and great flavors for both lunch specials. Food was again prepared quickly and we picked up within 15-20 minutes of placing the Seamless order.
The more "complex" dishes from the menu seem quite pricey, so I'm not sure if we will give it a shot. Maybe if we reeeeeeeally don't feel like trekking out to Flushing for a main meal one day.
This will be one of our go to staples going forward.
If you're looking for an actual Chinese restaurant (not your American take out place), this is it! The flavors are on point and the food is tasty not greasy. I personally wasn't a fan of the fried beef with cumin (thought it was just too overpowering) but the dishes I did enjoy are the Dan Dan Noodles (love it!), fish in hot oil, beef noodle soup, and general tso chicken.
The meal portions are generous! Fish in hot oil and beef noodle soup are authentic and definitely worth a try. They'll warm you right up!
The sweet sour crispy fish was drenched with a too sweet red sauce. While the portion was huge, the sauce was too overly sweet. Soup dumplings were okay. The skin was too thick. The Hong Kong style noodles were satisfying. The prices are on the high side but it beats driving to flushing. I think they must use msg because I have a headache after dinner. Nice space inside but food was just ok.

Chef Wang can do a lot of things.
Came here on a Sunday night around 6pm. Half of the crowd were Asians and the rest were from around the neighborhood (They look like regulars here at the restaurant).
Family style restaurant. Over 40 tables available to serve you. Plenty of staff to come around your table with a friendly smile and ready to take your order. Multiple pages on the menu that was combined with a la Carte Sushi, Chinese and Sichuan food (known for MA LA Spicy numb food).
So we ask the waiter about which one is popular in Sichuan food. He gave us couple of the list that my BF and I tried. (And they make sure if We wanted this in Spicy or Not to spicy, we told them the spicy level).
– Dan Dan noodle (Appetizer) $ 7
– Pork Wonton on a Chilli sauce (Appetizer)* $ 5
– Cumin Lamb* $ 17
– Braised Tender Sliced beef in hot chilli oil** $ 17
– Boiled sliced fish with picked cabbage and chilli** $ 24
This was just for 2 adults. Kids weren't able to eat that spicy so we order them a California roll ($ 4.50) and a Shredded chicken noodle soup ($ 9)
Chef Wang's Sichuan style is pretty legit, the Spiciness is to cater more to the American side (which is a little weaker). Comparing to other Sichuan places that I have been, Wang's dishes does not involve a lot of Garlic in it. Is more of a Chilli pepper, oil and with the Aromatic ingredients makes it delicious.
Peeking at other table's order, I see couple tables ordering strictly Sicchuan food, Others were ordering simple Chinese food (Spring rolls,fried rice, general tso's chicken, etc).
Total we spent about $100 for 4 people, we had 3 huge pints of leftover. If you are in the Long Island Area and don't want to go to Flushing or the City to have Sichuan, you should try this place, Recommend to bring more than 3 people to be able to get more than 2 dishes. Private parking lot available and they do take credit cards.

Chef Wang has delicious fried rice and a bunch of other dishes! My family and I came here for my birthday dinner this year and we tried all kinds of dishes including some sushi. Everything was very tasty and we enjoyed it. Some of the key dishes we loved were the orange beef, fried rice, beef and broccoli, moo shoo, egg rolls and of course the sushi! Wait, don't let me forget the steamed pork buns. Everyone was so friendly as well, so that won us over. We would definitely return to Chef Wangs and try a bunch of other dishes. There are so many on the menu so its hard to to pick just a few!
Tried this place for the first time. Ordered smoked tea duck, seafood pan fried noodle and scallion pancake. The purpose of pan frying noodles is to make them crispy which was not the case when my dish arrived, the noodles were soft and wet from soaking in the sauce, and the seafood in my dish wasn't the freshest. The duck was ok, not very flavorful but it didn't taste gamey. The best was the pancake, which was nice and crispy, not too oily. The bill was $50.89. I feel what I ate was not worth the price. I will not be making a second trip. I know too many excellent chinese restaurants in flushing and chinatown that serve top notch pan fried noodles and duck dishes.
Two stars for service, clean quiet place, and a decent scallion pancake.
