Chevys Fresh Mex

“I got chicken fajitas and our server was excellent, allowing for my daughter's fussiness with tomatoes and keeping them out of our guac at the table.”

“Must haves when I come here is the Mexican bull dog and shrimp and blue crab enchilada.”

“The best overall were the complimentary chips and chipotle salsa.”

  1. Horrible service, meh food. I used to like this place years ago. What the heck happened?

We stopped in after seeing Spotlight at Clifton Commons (Great movie, go see it) and figured we'd split the combo dinner since it was late. I ordered a margarita on the rocks, he ordered a Modelo. After much waiting my margarita came and it was frozen, not on the rocks. What the heck, am I 16?

Food tasted burnt, the mole sauce was awful. It was extremely loud in there yet the place wasn't full. Our waitress kept disappearing for extraordinary lengths of time. We would have ordered more if she'd come back occasionally.

Bathroom was dirty, too. Paper was everywhere. Ick.

Next time we'll wait and go to a diner.

  2. Don't really have much of a review.  Waitress was not interested in her job and food was ordinary Mexican
It is fine for a quick bite

  3. Wow I am so happy that I discovered a chevy's happy hour!!

Went on a weekday night after 10pm. They have food happy hour and drinks happy hour. Both great prices! Margaritas for $4 and food for $5-$8. The plates of food were huge. They don't scale it down just because it's happy hour. You get the full thing. Ordered the chili con queso, nachos with no beans, and the wings. So much food !! Sadly had to give back the chili con queso appetizer though. The cheese was not a great taste as how I remember it before. It tasted kinda old. No hard feelings though. The nachos were AMAZING. The shredded chicken on the nachos had such a bold taste to it. Not spicy but very flavorful and tender. The nachos themselves were thing and crunchy. All that was missing was a little bit more cheese. The wings platter came with plenty of wings that were nicely fried and tossed in sauce. Service was decent. The waiter was too attentive so sometimes we had to track her down. Enough TVs in the bar area to cover all sports. Very nice decorations and all that.

Definitely going to make this the happy hour spot when I am in the area !!

  4. I know, I know.  I know a lot of people are very opposed to chain restaurant Tex-Mex, but I don't care…I've always liked Chevy's and I've never had a bad experience at a Chevy's.  I've probably been to this location 8-10 times over the years, but it had been a few so we decided to eat here before a movie a few weeks ago.

When we got there we mentioned to our waitress that we were in a bit of a hurry because we were heading to a movie and she was completely cool with it and even made sure our orders were expedited.  I ordered a simple two-item combo (Salsa Chicken Enchilada and a Picadillo beef soft taco) and the other two in my group ordered the salsa chicken quesadilla and Fish tacos.

Our waitress hooked us up with multiple trays of chips and salsa (while I like the salsa here a lot, it could be a tad bit spicier for my taste) and was great about getting the food to us quickly.  Luckily we were there before the lunch rush, but our food got to us in about five minutes and it was all done perfectly.  Whoever they had working in the kitchen that day was goooood.

Anyway, no complaints.  The food was just what we wanted, filled us up, and we had a great server.  Can't ask for much more than that…

  5. We used to love this place, but now we only like this place. We used to come often when Adam and Kris worked. These guys were awesome, remembered names and knew how make your dining experience great.

    Now to the good stuff!
Every day there's a special. Please call ahead and check. Our favorite day was/is Wednesday! Margarita Wednesday that is. $2 margaritas all day! Your options are margys on the rocks or frozen. Did I mention $2 margaritas lol

And finally there's happy hour! Everyday from 3pm-7pm and then 10pm to close. We love the tacos, wings and nachos from the happy hour menu. If the weather is great, try to get a table outside.

    See ya on a Wednesday

  6. When we want a Mexican fix we come here. Although I haven't tried anything else besides the Mixed Grill Fajitas everything seems to look pretty good.

I enjoyed my mommy daughter date while sipping Dos Patrones Margaritas. She had frozen Pineapple and I had a frozen Peach. Mommy tasted a hint of pineapple in her margarita and didn't think it was as strong as it should've been. I have no complaints about the food or drinks.

One thing I'd like to mention is that during the second part of us dining at Chevy's our waiter was missing. He completely vanished from the restaurant unless he was on a lunch break. I thought to myself how can that be possible when he was on the schedule to work our section of tables.

    Nonetheless I'll be back.

  7. I love this place. They have great prices, friendly staff, and amazing specials. The food is usually quick and very tasty. They have a great outdoor area for outdoor dining. They bar area is semi outdoor and great for cool days. I love the sombreros they give you for your birthday. I enjoy just about every dish here so I can't even start to say what is good. Definitely try to Grande nachos – great for sharing. I don't think you can come here and not order a house margarita.. they are sooo good and super cheap on special!

  8. I know Chevy's is a chain restaurant and all that jazz BUT I actually like it. Sue me.

So whenever I finish a show at school that I performed in, my cast and I would usually go to Chevy's to celebrate our performance. We would also always do this after 10pm because of Happy Hour and Half-Price Apps which we're actually really good!

First off all: $4 Margaritas. Now I love a good Margarita and Chevy's actually has a decent one! Not one of those Watered-Down-Chain-Restaurant cocktails that you usually expect but this was actually really good! Very refreshing, sour and very smooth!

Now I also love me some Nachos and that's what I typically get from here with some Carnitas on top. Nachos were bangin'. Plenty of chips, plenty of meat, plenty of cheese, plenty of veggies, and plenty of guacamole. Where could you go wrong?

While I do love some authentic Mexican, and you're not gonna find that here of course, it was actually really good for a chain restaurant and that's saying something!
