  1. Decent food, but underwhelming.

  2. I just wanted to add that the owner Alex is an absolute GEM!! Every time I pick up an order he sincerely thanks me & is always beyond pleasant.

In a city where a simple "thank you" is not easy to come by, I genuinely appreciate that Alex takes the time to greet his customers & develop relationships. For this reason, I will continue to spread the word about this delicious restaurant & will be a life-long customer!

PS the grilled chicken & grilled vegetable salad is my new fave. The salmon is also VERY tasty!!

  3. I am personally not a huge fan of chicken spots like this. I have only found one place that served a rotisserie chicken that I truly loved, and the place closed so this was the second best. My boyfriend LOVES this place and would eat here everyday if he had the option. I do believe the prices are a little high for the food- but its always fresh and hot. They have a decent amount of options for those who don't want the traditional chicken meal. I will be trying a few more menu items and updating my review. I do know they make a pretty good greed salad! Hope to try the shrimp dish soon.

  4. Reminds me of the Kennedy Fried Chicken places that are both the butt of jokes and the envy of drunks throughout the city and parts of Long Island. This place, though, looks a bit nicer. Look nicer.
    Isn't.
I came for a quick dinner. I got chicken nuggets, fries, and mozzarella sticks. I should have gotten something besides chicken nuggets, because they tasted no better than store-bought nuggets made by someone who knows their way around an oven. Expensive, too! Well, let me clarify. The chicken nuggets and the fries were a good price for how much I got. The mozz sticks, meanwhile, were $7 for 6! Outrageous.
    Wound up paying over $20.
I'll probably be back since it is so close to my apartment, but I'll choose my order in a more cost-effective way next time.

  5. I was craving some grilled chicken and stumbled upon this place on Yelp. I ordered the grilled chicken with orzo rice and a Greek salad. The grilled chicken was very tender with great seasoning. The orzo salad was alright, probably wouldn't get it again. Also got a Greek salad on the side. I really liked the fact they put grape leaves in the salad which a lot of people don't do in the Greek salad.

  6. $11 for 1/2 ribs value meal is a disgrace. It comes with 1/2 ribs, two pita breads, and one side. The amount of ribs are so few and the ribs are not juicy but dry. Disappointment!
If you go to Chicken Lovers in Bayside you will get bigger and tastier ribs for the price of $10 for 1/2 ribs with two sides and a soda.

  7. Chicken Shack is back and just as mediocre as ever. Recently a fire in the neighboring store put CS out of commission for a couple of months. CS was previously on 30th Ave but when the lease came due and the landlord insisted on a gargantuan lease payment, Alex thought it appropriate to move elsewhere.

I perceive quality to be consistent with other chicken joints in the hood. Methinks it laden with preservatives because whenever I have eat at CS I become overly thirsty. For me this is anecdotally indicative of overly usage of MSG or similar flavor enhancers. Thus my rating is based on the food.

The chicken is always fresh and costs a little more than similar neighboring restaurants. I primarily swing by because my munchkin likes the chicken. Thus my rating is based solely on the food.

However, today marks my final visit because they don't have a bathroom for in-store dinners. When I complained the owner said to me that based on the number of tables he wasn't required to have a bathroom by the building department. Perhaps that's true but what does that have to do with good business sense? Especially since several even smaller restaurants come to mind that care about their dinners. My feeling is that the proprietors didn't feel like spending the money for this most basic of accommodations. C'est la vie.

I wish Alex all the best and please consider this unsolicited suggestion in the helpful manner in which it is meant: ease up on whatever it is you are using in the sauce and chicken rub.

  8. I hope this place withstands the curse of this  corner location & bleak block. It seems like every business that's opened here has closed in less than a year. It's a nice addition to Broadway & I was happy with my grilled chicken breast & orzo (with feta & chopped peppers mixed in). However it was a bit salty, as it seems like the usual with chicken spots. The food was satisfying, but a kind of empty fullness that you would get with eating fast food.

It seems like the owner knows everyone in the neighborhood & the place was busy with delivery orders & a few tables. I may be interested in trying their other dishes, but also have to be okay with non-organic or non-halal tasting chicken.
