ChikaLicious Dessert Bar
“My mother-in-law makes poppyseed cookies which are very similar to Chika's. That says a lot since Chika sells hers in bags.”
“I'm all about eating weird ice cream, and here, I got to have two: corn ice cream in cherry soup and thyme sorbet with honey gelee.”
“It is prix fixe, at $16 for the three course dessert, with the option for another $9 for the recommended paired drink.”

Sometimes more than not, there may be a reason to skip dessert, but ChikaLicious is something you may want to leave room for. This is a tiny, cute spot for any sweets/desserts fan. We went after an early dinner in the East Village on a Sunday. Anticipating that there may be a wait, there actually was none. The entire bar, however, was nearly reserved, but luckily with two free seats available. If anything, you will want to sit at the bar if you can because part of the enjoyment will come from watching them at work, creating really what are works of delicious art. They prepare these with such precision and care but with an apparent level of expertise. Certainly a pleasure to watch.
There is the option of a pre-fixe ($16), which is what we each had ordered. This includes Amuse bouche, choice of dessert, and Petits Fours. Wine pairing is $9 additional, but I didn't opt for this. For dessert, we chose the Fromage Blanc Island "Cheese Cake" and Warm Chocolate Tart
with Pink Peppercorn Ice Cream and Red Wine Sauce. I definitely recommend the Fromage Blanc. It is their signature dessert, with a unique preparation, presentation and wonderful flavor. The Warm Chocolate Tart is a great dish for those who particularly like chocolate desserts. I really enjoyed the peppercorn ice cream. The red wine sauce was a nice touch.
ChikaLicious desserts are super unique. Off the menu, it might sound ordinary, but it really goes beyond that. If you want a cute spot that offers simple, yet experimental desserts, try ChikaLicious. This spot is great for the serious sweet tooth looking for something good yet reasonably priced to indulge in. For $16, the pre-fixe is certainly not bad for the amount served. I highly recommend the bar too so you can see the chef in action.
Location: faced against dessert bar chikalicious, Chikalicious dessert bar is only open through thursday to sunday, offering limited editions of dessert.. Two, although look very similar, they do provide different kinds of sweets. The one I am comment on is very high end, with few seats, and chef in the bar…
Food: I honestly expected more from ChikaLicious Dessert Bar. And me and my friend ordered three dessert for prefix order…
I think.. I am not a fan of any of the dessert.
Good part: it is very delicate, the plate of dessert is elegant, small portion, not too strong sweet but still concentrated on every bit of sweetness inside the dessert/
Yeah, you would say it's great
but the price is just…
Maybe it's just not worth 17 dollars for one dessert place.
The long wait was worth it.
We started off with some lovely amuse. Wow. IT was light and amazing.
The warm chocolate tart was so good. The panna cotta was very smooth.
The petit fours were pretty good (some better than others, but all good).
I loved how the hot tea is served in traditional tea cups.
Overall, a lovely experience that you should take the time to really enjoy!
I'm not sure which Chickalicious I should be writing this review for (since there are 2 locations), but I decided to try the churro cone for the first time last night. After numerous foodie accounts on Instagram posting this, I decided to give it a try for myself.
The menu was pretty simple consisting of only a handful of options for churro cones. I went ahead and order whatever the customer in front of me ordered which was the Nutty Professor. The cone didn't take that long to make and of course, I had to take a ton of pictures before consuming it.
The ice cream itself wasn't bad. The toppings on the ice cream resembled the taste of Ferrero Rocher chocolates so that's a +1! Overall, I really enjoyed my cone. The only criticism I had was for the texture of the cone which was somewhat chewy instead of soft and flaky.
This is a one in a lifetime thing for me and I will probably end up trying the other things that Chikalicous has to offer, as I do not see myself paying $10 for an ice cream cone again.
Came on Sunday around 8pm. Surprisingly almost no wait! It's so small with maybe only 10 seats at the bar and 8 seats for tables (reserved). The dessert is light and small portion. It's only open from Thursday to Sunday. Chika seems to be always there! It's prix fix for $18 for three. I had the childcare tart. The tart crust is crispy. Then sorbet is just sorbet. Everything is tiny, but it's a great experience. You can also order tea or drinks.
I used to be a fan of chikalicious but not anymore. The last two times I've been here when they debuted their new creations it did not taste good. My friends and I tried their version of a cronut and it was rather disappointing. (Note: We've had Dominique ansel's cronuts on various occasions). We got excited when we saw they made churros cone topped w soft serve ice cream. This was another disappointment. The churros was unexpectedly very hard. for the price we paid ($10) we were expecting something big but all we got was a rather small cone. c'mon you can get soft serve ice cream w toppings for about $4 in the city..
It seems that there are two Chikalicious Dessert Bars, right across the street from each other. I hope I'm writing this review for the right one!
Totally did not get to try the famous croughnut while visiting New York. Then we wandered in and saw the sign that said doughnut/croissant. Thought great l can finally try something similar too it! Got the creme brûlée and also a nutella for free since they made a mistake on our order. I was like wow this is soooo good!
It… taste… exactly… like… a… malasadas????
In Hawaii we have portuguese doughnuts called malasadas. And interestingly enough this doughnut/croissant taste exactly like it! The creme brûlée was awesome, having a slightly caramelized top and more of a creamy cream cheese filling. The nutella tasted good having chocolate inside. All were flakey and delicious!
Also got a green tea matcha latte which was awesome!
I'm not sure if the original croughnut tastes like a malasadas. To be continued for the next trip to New York. All I know is that if anyone from Hawaii is craving a malasadas in New York you can stop by here :).
I love everything Chika creates.
I'm a big fan of her Dessert Club, ChikaLicious store across the street from ChikaLicious Dessert Bar. I guess you could say this is a more high-end dessert spot compared to their Dessert Club store. Both places are amazing and definitely worth visiting.
We came at an off time and were able to find seats immediately. Service is amazing, so attentive and friendly. I am so excited we were able to meet Chika herself! She is down to earth and hard working. This dessert spot is cozy with some tables and counter seating, where you can watch the magic happen. There is a restroom in the back and it's very clean.
The Prix Fixe for $16 is excellent. It comes with Amuse, Choice of Dessert and Petits Fours. Chika's desserts are always light, full of flavor, delicate, and made with quality ingredients. She's so talented and I love that she shares her love for dessert with us. This is a great place to bring a loved one to enjoy some dessert, tea, and wine.
