  1. I have to admit I am sushi addict.
    Wait, actually – raw foods and fresh food addict. Fish or meat, mouthwatering fresh, delicious & seasoned right.
    Add the fact that it is locally sourced & sustainable, and I am sold on it, baby.

    Now with all that prelude, all you need to know is – Chisai seriously impressed me.
    But I will elaborate further.

    It's tiny. Minimalistic and clean, which suits their concept. Bar sitting only – and it only fits few seats.
    They offer small bites & seasonal plates – all worth trying. Hamayaki is incredible – baked perfectly and served on huge shell. Scallops & crab meat, seasoned so well – you just want to close your eyes and remember every bite. Edamame, Chirachi & Local Smoke sushi was delish as well.
    Loved it – thank you to my companion for finding this place!
    I want more!!!

  2. One of the features I love about this place is the fact that they source their food and their staff locally.

    The place is small. Like I'm talking eight stools small at the bar.

    I can see how people can say the miso soup is a little salty. It almost taste like too much miso was used, but I didn't mind. The House salad has an amazing pickle and is fresh as hell. Scallops were prepared nicely with the accompanying sushi.

  3. This place is exemplary. No seriously: it is rare that one comes along a sushi bar that is reminiscent of the whimsical creative and yet simply delicious fare that brings you to your metaphorical knees. First things first- this place is small. Like 5 seats at a sushi bar small. Although that would usually mean it is pretentious, in this case nothing could be further than the truth. The exquisitely sweet warm scallops are served atop a perfectly rolled simple bed of rice and seaweed. A hint of truffle kisses almonds yellowtail and tuna. Spicy mayo marries blue crab in a soft pillow of a comforting bun. Avocado kabochq squash and an egg atop rice makes a strangely satisfying salad. Fresh mackerel wrapped in seaweed is just fishy enough to remind us that summer is just around the corner. The service and dedication the staff show to their art is the definition of love and pride. We left feeling cared for and cherished for our love of food and all the hedonistic pleasure that comes with eating local sustainable fish and food.

  4. First off, I want to say thank you to my friend and fellow gastroenthusiast/Yelper Jon S. for taking me to this tiny corner of sushi heaven. I licked my fingers in public and dripped sauce all over my lap the whole time we were there. That's how amazing their preparations are. The Harvest bowl, spicy scallop and shitake avocado rolls were tops, but it was the Hamayaki that did me in – broiled scallop, crab, eel sauce and truffle over rice. I don't care if the eel never comes out of my jeans! Let the stain remind my ass to come back to the counter of carefully prepared delights.

  5. Sustainable sushi!  You have arrived to the East coast!  

    Friends and I checked out this place on a Saturday close to 2pm.  No wait!  Yay!  It's a small place with, I think, eight counter stools.  There's no restroom but you can use the place next door.

    Ordered a bunch of dishes.  My favorite was this small plate that contained scallop, crab, rice, truffle oil and something else.  It was served on a scallop shell.  We asked for the dish without the crab (allergies).  Absolutely delicious.  

    The Chisai and Spicy Scallop (not chopped up pieces of scallop.  Whole scallops w/ the Japanese chili pepper flakes) rolls are must eats.  Each dish comes with six pieces and are manageable bites.

    Cute atmosphere, nice music, nice staff.

    Oh yea… no bathroom inside this small place.  They say you can use the place next door but the door was locked so we ended up walking to the Brooklyn Museum to use facilities.
