  1. Excellent.

I've been wanting try this place for a while, as I'm a big fan of Thai food. I checked out their takeout lunch menu and I couldn't decide between a curry dish, a noodle dish, or a meat dish. After a bit of hemming and hawing, I decided to try the chicken with chili sauce.

Now this was the first time, I've tried a chili sauce based dish. I wasn't sure if it was gonna be spicy, as in, in your face, fire spice. I was amazed. Turns out the right amount of spice and flavor was added to the dish. The chicken went great with the sauce and mixed well with the string beans and other veggies.

The lunch meal came with a choice of Thai wonton soup or a salad. I chose the salad with Thai peanut sauce.

The meal was $8 and the portion size was smaller than I'd like. However, although the meal was priced about a $1 too much and the portion size was about a bite or two, too small, I'd still say this is a 5 star meal. I look forward to trying the other dishes here.

  2. The noodle dishes are more on the greasier side, which I don't like. Sloooww delivery. They would tell you 30 minutes while it's actually 1 hour

  3. Chok-Dee has improved over time, and i am happy about that. The restaurant now has a warm, cozy and welcoming feel inside. While here for dinner on a friday  night, while there were a decent amount of people inside–they service was still good. The Tom Kha soup is a must have, very generous on the veggies that are in it too, but its also not too sweet. I am a sucker for curries, and it seems Chok-Dee knows how to make a curry or two. The Panaang Curry was delicious,  it was thicker than ive normally had tho. Dont know if thats possitive or negative or thats how its supposed to be. But for no extra charge, get the brown rice with it. Its spiced and full of flavor—when it comes to the spice tho, its nothing unbearable so you wont be sweatin while eating this. And as usual, their plating was on point. A small little joint in a small town. but they know how to impress with the plating and how creative they can get…

  4. Was visiting friends who recently moved to Wood Ridge and went out to dinner.  This is a quaint and quiet restaurant on a main street in Wood Ridge.  It has a very open layout when you walk in, and a very cool, calm, and relaxing feeling.  There is light, tranquil music playing, and you almost feel like you've walked into a spa.  However, because the restaurant is quiet and has the soft music playing, you also feel like you're not allowed to talk or talk loudly.

As other Yelpers mentioned, it has a 'homey' feeling and it definitely looks/feels family-run, which is great.  Our waitress/hostess was super sweet and cleaned off a table for us to sit  down at (even though I think it already was clean).  There was only one other party in the restaurant, which gave it that added ambiance.  It's a BYOB, so my friend went to the wine store next door and picked up a bottle of red.

The food here is pretty good and you can certainly taste the quality and care that goes into it.  For appetizers, we ordered the Fried Tofu and Veggie Dumplings.  The fried tofu was really good – especially when you add the peanut sauce and some hot sauce.  Nothing special, but hit the spot.  The dumplings were decent – they were small and tend to fall apart, as most dumplings (at least vegetarian ones) do.

For dinner, I had the Vegetarian Duck Basil which was pretty good.  I like that the portion sizes are just right so that you don't feel like you overate.  The duck was a bit chewy, but had a good seitan-y taste to it.  The sauce and veggies were cooked nicely, and I asked for it to be spicy, which it was.  Mixing it with the brown rice was a nice complement.

Overall, the ambiance and the care this restaurant puts into their food is fantastic.  Definitely worth checking out if you live in the area or are visiting.

  5. At this place finishing up dinner from a groupon we bought. The red curry shrimp was out of this world- we started with the fish cakes, the cucumber sauce to go with the cakes was absolutely delectable. The other pictures seem deceiving with little food; MORE than enough, lovely atmosphere. My boyfriend thought the panang was a bit too spicey but keep in mind he's not a spice guy, he still licked his plate clean.

Tip: Try to avoid the booth under the face mask sculpted the old heater slammed all meal.

    We'll be back!

The owner was a delight to serve us. Good was surprisingly elegant and just enough spice. I'll be back for sure

  6. I decided to try Chok-Dee Thai since it is new in town. The food was decent, but I would have preferred a little more sauce on my pad see ew dish. I was not sure if Chok-Dee delivered since it was not listed on yelp or the website. I called to ask and the restaurant agreed to deliver which was nice of them and showed a commitment to the customer.

  7. Don't let the exterior of this place fool you! From the outside it looks like a hole in the wall restaurant, but when you walk inside it is completely different. I loved the atmosphere. The decorations and music are so calming. I felt like I was at a spa about to get a massage.

On week days there are only two employees, the two female owners. We met one of them last night, and she was wonderful. She was very patient with my indecisiveness and offered some great suggestions. She was very attentive and made sure we always had plenty of water.

The food came out very quickly, and everything was delicious. The pot-stickers were my favorite. They were seriously addicting. We also ordered the drunken noodles with shrimp and the beef pad Thai. All of the ingredients were so fresh tasting, and the presentation was beautiful. The sauce on the drunken noodles was very light. I usually prefer more sauce and flavor, but it was a nice, lighter version of the dish. It was served with fresh jalapeno slices for added natural heat. The portions were generous, but since it was so light it was perfect.

    I will definitely be back!
