  1. Love Chopt!!! It's either Chopt or sweetgreen when I'm craving a salad in NYC. I eat salad every week now. Today is the grand opening for 51 Astor Place. I came here after work and made it to the 6-8:30pm Chopt gives. I ordered the Palm Beach salad, shrimps and with the Mexican Goddess dressing. This was really delicious. Chopt destination salads are designed to be tasty and nutritional. I love that this location is opened at a prime spot in the city. Great location for college students to grab their salads. Eating healthy is a great start to living a better and longer life. Today's donation to Wellness in the Schools is important. Inspires kids in public school to be aware of healthy eating at a younger age and being fit. I definitely will come to this Chopt more often. I usually go to my local Chopt on Spring St.

  2. Very clean and modern set up for a salad place. I liked the kale salad and love the idea of picking what you want in your salad. The only thing is that you better keep an eye on the chopping part as it will be so thin it becomes a smoothie.
The price is a bit expensive for what it is, but with the amount of customers the produces are very fresh and delicious.
If anything I would lower the prices a little as it comes to $13 for a salad without any meat products and half an avocado in it.
The place is great and conveniently located, but not sure they can accommodate large parties. I know they also deliver, at least for large orders, as I've seen them prepare orders for over 20 salads at a time.
    Great fresh take out place.

  3. 3 1/2 stars. My first experience with this salad chain was at this new location. I'd been looking forward to its opening for months because it's the closest location to me. The space is a decent size with high ceilings and white decor. I really like the interior of the place. The wallpaper is cool, though I feel that they could have more seating since I'm assuming they get really busy at lunch time.

They have two stations for salads, but I always come at odd times when no one is eating (3-4PM) so only one station is open. I don't know if it's because I come at an awkward time that my salad is never chopped the way I want it. Maybe the workers aren't feeling the rush or they're training someone at that time? I understand the place is still new, and some people may still be in training, but I wasn't satisfied with how chopped my salad was both times that I've been here. The second time, it took her a very long time to finish, and I felt like I was waiting forever. Additionally, I don't like how the checkout counter is set up. There isn't really any counter space there since there's a small fridge for drinks in front of the registers, so if you're holding more than just your salad, you have no place to put your stuff.

Of course I'll keep coming here because I think Chop't has good salad options. I'm just hoping they improve over time and become more established as time goes on.

  4. Pros: healthy, fresh ingredients, interesting flavor combinations, accepts LevelUp.

Cons: I have never been more stressed than ordering a salad here during lunch.

It's understandable that they want to get as many people through the door in as little time as possible, but seriously. I barely had time to glance at the menu before employees were trying to push me into an ordering line, and it only went downhill from there. I kept being shuffled around by employees from both directions, and felt like I was playing frogger during rush hour in Times Square. Ordering simultaneously felt very controlled (re: an employee will literally grab you and tell you where to stand) and very disorganized (re: I had to move 6 times, rather than just going down the line like a normal fast casual restaurant).

I ended up with a grain bowl when I thought it was a normal salad (pro tip: "hot top" salads are mostly grains with a little bit of kale and cabbage, and do not come in their normal salad bowl). And it was….ok. Underwhelming for the price and my roasted butternut squash was under cooked, but good enough for a healthy weekday lunch.

Next time, I'm going to decide what I want well in advance of coming to Chopt, because they definitely don't give you enough time to think or ask questions when ordering.
