Chop’t

“This location is great and handles the pandemonium of lunch time in FiDi very well.”

“Then it's off to the chopper (I think a chopping machine might be more efficient, but I guess it loses the appeal).”

“It's a great place to change it up a bit in the Financial District for lunch, plus it's a bit of a walk so you can work off some of those calories.”

  1. I'm not too sure if this is the right location, but I went to the new one in One New York Plaza. It's usually pretty busy during lunch time but they move fast. I got the grain salad with kale, southwest quinoa blend, with nuts and chipotle vinaigrette and fresh squeezed lemon with their seasoned chicken. I have to say very tasty and healthy and I finished it all. That's definitely something to me because I'm not a big fan of salad. Only downside is expensive price, but what do you expect in FiDi.

  2. This location is very crowded during lunch hours.  The salads are otherwise the same as other locations.  But if you want to play a gigantic real-world version of the game "snake" this is the spot.  The snake winds around until you get to the salad selection then becomes a sort of randomized chaos to your salad chop't… Skip this location if you're in a hurry.

  3. Chop't has become my go-to for healthy lunches in FiDi. I'm not a salad person at all but I think Chop't does a pretty good job mixing its ingredients to make salads (somewhat) tasty, so it's hard to go wrong with any of its options. As a general tip, choosing the create-your-own-salad option is definitely not as great as ordering off the menu. You will likely end up with fewer ingredients and a higher price.

Don't be alarmed by the line. Chop't has a system figured out so you can be in and out in under 15.

I must say, the portions are pretty small. It looks huge but most of the volume is from raw greens so how filling can that really be? Two hours later, I'm hungry again. Use this as a very light lunch.

  4. The lines are horrendous but they move fairly quickly (wait time average 10-15 mins) . I love and hate this place. "Love" due to limited options. However, I'm most recently on a hate binge. Waited in line for 15 mins just to be told in the front that they are out of all the dressings I wanted. Yep… No Mexican Caesar, no Mexican goddess, no Tex-mex and no spa Tex. You would think that they could at least let you know that they are out of multiple dressings before making you wait in that long ass line especially when you have staff already directing people as to which line to stand in. Here's a tip, let ppl know when you run out of stuff as to not waste anyone precious lunch time.

  5. 3.5-4 stars. Since my last review, Chopt has definitely regained some points in my book. First of all, it definitely helped that the branch manager personally reached out to me and sent me some free salad cards so that I could give Chopt a shot again. Second, I'm actually quite impressed by the efficiency of this location. The first day I went it was super crowded but the line moved very quickly. Though it looked chaotic, there were multiple lines and staff moved speedily. The second day, I went a little earlier (before the noon rush) and there was basically no one there.

In terms of the salads, I am still not really a salad person, but I think some of their salads are fairly unique and actually somewhat satisfying! My favorite so far has definitely been the "NYC Street Cart." In general it's kind of hit or miss, but there are some items on the menu that sound really interesting and are definitely not your average salad.

Finally, just wanted to note that the staff here is very friendly, even when it's busy! Definitely kudos to maintaining that level of service.

  6. This Chop't location has a very long lunch line but, at least on the day I was here, didn't get through it as quickly/efficiently as the Brookfield Place location.

Made for a longer lunch than planned.

  7. Ehhhh. I'm eating the "Beach Palm" right now. It's okay. I'm not that impressed by the salad right now (probably because I am comparing it to Sweetgreen, which seems to be pretty amazing to me).

Service is great here though – super kind and nice people.

However, there's something about this salad that isn't the greatest. Oh well.

  8. the quality of the salads is way up there and I would give it a 5 starts for that alone…along with the customer service.  The chaos during lunch though.  it's not handled very well.  I went from one line told to go to another and then move back to my original line.  The are pretty quick during lunch but for first timers it can be very confusing.  Got the Po Boy – and it was delicious!
