Good selection of drinks and better vibe than some of the dive bars in TriBeCa. I like the way the bar is set up in the middle of the room, so you can access it easily from anywhere. The crowd is obviously slightly older than what you'll find in the East Village, since it's in a work area.
Came here on a cold Wednesday evening looking for a quick but substantial bite to eat. We were seated & attended to by the wait staff fairly quickly. It's a nice little place inside, with four TV's on if you're interested in what is going on in the sporting world, but they have music playing in the background.
The wife had the chicken kebobs that she liked, but said that the chicken was a little dry – Personally I didn't think so, however I do think they should have been served with maybe something like a tzatziki sauce.
My fish & chips was nice & tasty. I had it served with a side of broccoli, only because I am a sucker for broccoli- very tasty too.
I didn't see a dessert menu which I really think they need.
interesting place with interesting menu (yay, they have weihenstephan!), but we put the food menus away after discovering the bar had a whiff of a beer soaked trash can and the bathroom smelled like beer soaked pee.
Chillest bar I've been to in a while. I really like this place. Came here on a Saturday night at just before 11 pm and there were only a handful of people in here. Somehow though it was still lively but at this same time was quiet enough to have a conversation where no voice raising was needed.
They have a HUGE selection of craft beers. I tried the double IPA and really liked it: it was a great blend of hoppy with just a hint of fruit and bitterness.
There are some TVs on the wall and overall looks like an antique yet down to earth bar. Seems to be a good locals place around the FiDi/TriBeCa area. Will definitively be keeping this on my shortlist when I'm lazy and don't want to leave this area!
A decent selection of beers, there are better places in the city for sure, just maybe not better places in this nabe, hence they sort of have the market cornered. The ambience is decent, but around 4:30 it is crawling with Financial District types, so not the coolest place for blue collar or academia types like myself. It does in fact feel sort of like a "boys club" with lots of gentlemen in suits and ties meeting beautiful ladies after their hard days at the office. Their space is very cool with a wrap around bar and little private "drinking nooks" situated at the back of the restaurant. The staff are efficient but very curt and they want to know your drink order the moment you sit down. That's a pity as I wanted to mull over their tap list before making a definite selection. Oh well. On my quest for a post-teaching bar this was another dud. Maybe it's me though, I just didn't feel cool or classy enough to be in here, but then again shouldn't a place try to make most people feel comfortable enough to hang out a enjoy a beer? I'll give it another chance, but it wasn't really for me the first time.
I finally managed to make it over here in person and really liked the vibe- I had no idea they were a craft beer bar! Really nice selection of beers, including Hennepin. Our bartender was friendly and helpful. I ordered their pulled pork sliders and the fried green tomatoes. Pork sliders were ok, I'd skip the tomatoes (I was missing New Orleans when I ordered them, it's not fair to judge them too harshly). I don't think I'd make this a food destination, but it's a great choice for a bar close to Tribeca. It's down to earth and unpretentious, reasonable priced, and also pretty spacious on the inside. It's a nice middle of the road choice when you don't want to go to a dive but don't want to break the bank at a classy joint.
Great selection of draught beers are served here. It sits on the corner of Church and Reade in one of those old TriBeCa architectural beauties.
BAR: Lots of beer choices draught and bottle. We jumped on La Chouffe, a favorite Belgian artisinal, and a Founder Breakfast Stout. The selection of spirits is good. The cocktails are basic, not mixologist oriented.
ATMOSPHERE: The room has a great layout. As you enter, you can't help but notice the enormous ceiling height. The ceiling is dotted with fans and a cool assortment of light fixtures. The horseshoe shaped bar occupies the center of the room and is surrounded by small and communal tables. There are a few booths at the back (with curtains). We eventually noticed that there is an upstairs terrace with tables that overlook the bar.
We didn't recognize any of the music but liked everything we heard.
FOOD: Good looking assortment of bar food that isn't attached to a particular culture.
SERVICE: We were here in the Sunday transition of afternoon and evening so, servers were not challenged.
I guess most of these reviews are for dinner, but I came here for lunch.
First off I should note that the food gets 4-5 stars. Both my mom and I enjoyed what we got– I had the baja burrito, she went with the turkey BLT, and we shared sautéed Brussel sprouts. Everything was delicious.
This place, however, doesn't know how to cater to a lunch crowd. My mom and I came at around 12:15 on a Friday. We were seated right away, but our waitress was pretty inattentive. My mom had to get up multiple times (like to ask for extra napkins) because the waitress just wouldn't come to our table.
It took our food a half hour to come; when we asked the waitress what was up, she just said the cook was "starting it now." ?? What? Starting it so long after you took the order? Okay.
Luckily we weren't in a rush, but idk if we would've been able to stay if we were. And the place was not crowded– I'm not sure why it took that long to get our order. It's unlikely that we'll return, despite the good food.
