Came here on a Tuesday night for my birthday dinner with my dad and my girlfriend. We came in the front where they do pick up orders so we had to make our way to the back hostess stand near the bar. We were seated immediately so that's a plus.
Almost as soon as we sat down, we had water poured and a salad with a bowl of olives came out along with their amazing bread. It will change your world, trust me on that. After we finished off the salad and a couple rolls of bread our waiter came to take our orders. We got a bottle of red wine for the table for our much anticipated rodizio dinner. I also had to try their sangria after reading all the reviews. To be honest it was good but wasn't anything I haven't had before at other restaurants.
You really don't know when you can start the rodizio dinner itself until a bus boy replaces your salad plates with clean plates ready for a meat party. Just signal to someone with a spike of meat to start the celebration. Once you have some on your plates, everyone starts coming to you with so many choices. We had steak cooked perfectly to your liking, amazing sausage and bacon wrapped turkey. Also served was beef rib on the bone, pork, and my personal favorite the chicken. Might have been the best chicken I have ever had. We just kept eating, I mean I literally couldn't stop. Everything was so good and about an hour in I think I got the meat sweats.
Along with your meat-a-polosa comes a bunch of side dishes that just tease you. Rice and black beans, french fries, homemade potato chips, some greens that were a little fibrous, and the famous plantains. We had seconds of the plantains, perfectly sweet and fried to cleanse the palate in between meat plates. The pico was also a great topping that I started putting it on bread along with steak to make my own personal sandwich.
This place is amazing especially if you want to celebrate a good time with a date or a large party. The "meat service" is top notch. They even get a little offended when you finally start turning it away once your full. I would love to come back again with even more people to really get a party started. Best Churrasqueira in the area, hands down!
I have been a customer of this restaurant for years. Frankly, all of their food is great. The chicken is tasty and perfectly seasoned (it's the best chicken i've ever had). The Riodizio is a fun and filling experience. Personally, my favorites are the turkey wrapped in bacon and the pichana (sp?), particularly the end cut right of the grill. Amazing flavor.
The restaurant is big, loud and very busy. Expect a good wait on the weekends, but once you're seating the service is quick an efficient.
The only reason I didn't give the restaurant 5 stars, is because the size of the chicken has gotten much smaller over the years. I would say the chicken is 2-3 pounds max, which is quite small to share, even for two people.
Other than that, I love this restaurant. It is a real gem.
Saturday night. We came in and maybe because it was a holiday weekend so the wait at 630 was only a half hour
Miguel was our server
Ok so…this is one of those places that if you come, ordering the "Rodizio" is the smart thing to do. It has everything in it.
So let me say that, I don't know if it was the heat outside or just my mood…or my mistake of eating a banana before I left the house but- i was not fully in it today.
Parking is in the street on crazy busy Jericho tpke where local professionals race around like its the indy 500. My nerves were wracked from that.
The restaurant in appearance was super clean and well appointed. The wait staff were so so attentive to us and I really liked them.
They placed the rodizio side dishes down and I was a little unimpressed. My husband was in 7th heaven of course. The collard greens were nicely done, I have never had them like that- shredded and blanched and then maybe flash sautéed with garlic perhaps? Very interesting. the rest of it (side dishes) was kind of
..Meh…
compared to what I can do on these dishes at home I was feeling like the meats better knock my socks off or I might feel like I wasted 35 bucks.
the bacon wrapped turkey was AMAZING. In fact all of the meats were pretty damned good. All well seasoned, and juicy. I was mad I got full so fast. It is times like this I wish marijuana was legal and that I was a smoker because this would have been a pig fest for the carnivorous beast in my soul. Id say I need to give them another try on a day when I am ravenous and with more people because its that kind of place- try
it out there is not much to complain about they are
pretty good. This will be continued …
I drive past this restaurant everyday on my commute. And every single day, I am salivating when I drive by or am sitting at the stoplight at the corner and the wind carries blankets of the barbeque smoke through my car window. Holy cow. The smell alone warrants five stars….
This is confirmed when you actually get an opportunity to eat here. It was the Saturday before Memorial Day, and we arrived around 7:30 ish for a half hour wait, which wasn't bad at all. We passed the time with a pitcher of their delicious red wine sangria and browsed our menu options. All five of us settled on the Rodizio, which essentially is a carousel of meat, as much as you can eat. So worth it. My favorite out of all the pork, beef, and chicken we had was the simple chicken wing. Perfectly seasoned and out of this world. There was also bacon-wrapped chicken and ribs and gosh, the meat just kept coming [that's what she said joke?]
Also, as we were eating we got the waiter to change the channel on the TV nearest to us to the italian soccer game that was on (we knew it was on from one of the other farther tvs). So yeah, we did get a bit rowdy, but we had wine and delicious meat to charge us up.
The sides were great too, I loved the plantains and the salad was really light and refreshing. The soft Portuguese bread was so, so good, and I think I may have to hit up a local Portuguese bakery to get my fill.
This place doesn't appear to take reservations, so prepare for a wait. I'd also recommend staying close to the hostess stand as sometimes you may not be able to hear them call out.
I cannot wait to go back and bring all my serious carnivore friends!
P.S – Don't forget to take a picture with the giant cock XD
It's so freakin good! I would say it's more of a 4.5, this was one of the best Rodizios I have ever been to. It's definitely a must visit when you are out on the Island. It's a Portuguese Rodizios which is similar to the Brazilian ones that we are so accustomed to. I first heard of this restaurant from Zagat and it was highly rated years ago, I am so glad to know that it has stood the test of time. The place gets crazy packed so make sure you go early or are OK with waiting. The clientele is mainly families and older people but it's a place to go for a celebration or with a group.
The food:
Riodizo- It's an all you can eat meal where waiters come by with mouthwatering meats on skewers and you basically eat yourself silly for about $36 bucks. For the amount of food you get and for the variety, it really is a great deal. The meal comes with fries, rice and these bomb ass plantains. One of the interesting things about the meats was the taste of the fire, there really was a nice smokiness to most of the meats.
-Picanha, this is a really popular cut in Brazil and is a really popular item at Rodizios, in the US it would be called a rump. The one here was great, they serve it more towards the rare side and it had so much flavor, it is also a really tender piece of meat.
-Beef Short Ribs, I am a fan of short ribs and I am a fan of the short ribs here. They were so tender and juicy with a nice outer crust.
-Costela de Porco, aka grilled spare ribs. I liked the flavor of the rib, they were nice but could use a tad bit of moisture.
-Chicken leg, the chicken leg was great, it was so incredibly juice with a touch of spice. I normally wouldn't pay any mind to a beef-centric dinner but this should be ordered.
-Sausage, I am not sure what kind of sausage it was but if it was Portuguese, it might have been Linguica. I enjoyed the flavor but the meat inside was a tad softer than I am used to but I still really enjoyed it but my other two friends, not so much.
-sides, the fries were good, they were not crunchy but also not greasy, they kinda reminded me of Greek fries. The rice was just filler but the plantains were freakin great. They were so creamy and perfectly sweet. You should order the plantains by the bucket lol
Red Sangria- I enjoyed the Sangria but it was a tad sweet and doesn't have the most pronounced wine flavor but it really did pair well with the whole meal.
After hearing about how great Bairrada is several times, I finally got to see what the hype is all about! I came around 6:30 on a Saturday evening and the place was insanely packed and already had a wait for tables. Mind you, it's a pretty big restaurant so there was quite the crowd there. We were told the wait for a table for two would be about 20 minutes, but we were seated in less than ten! If you want to wait outside there's seating there so you can order a drink and enjoy it outdoors, but they don't serve food there.
Upon being seated, you're already being served a salad. Though it may not look like much because it's lettuce, onion, and tomato, it's actually really good and super fresh! Don't forget to pair your salad with the breads because they're amazing as well. We ordered a whole roasted chicken, french fries, chips, rice, and beans, not to mention a few glasses of wine. Everything was delicious and the chicken was incredibly juicy. My suggestion is to ask for hot sauce on the side if you want to spice things up a bit.
For dessert we got the popular egg white one everyone gets there and a chocolate cake. Both were awesome! The egg white one was delicate and creamy, the chocolate one was so rich and the crust tasted like Oreo cookies.
The only negative was that the service was a tad slow, but in the restaurant's defense, it was so packed I can completely understand why! Also, a word of advice…the parking lot in back fills up rather quickly so come sooner rather than later!
We came here recently and all ordered the rodizio at $35 per person. They brought some fries, rice, veggie which I imagine can be refilled if needed (I avoided them to save room for the meat).
Ten minutes later (they needed time to prep it appeared we were the only ones that ordered this at 12 noon) the endless meat started coming, overall at least 8 different meat were brought out, some were too salty but overall it was a decent experiences. The restaurant looks like a mom and pop local place vs an established chain look. The deserts were not included and u have to pay extra.
Service was fine and the manager or owner came by couple times throughout to ensure everything was fine.
