Ordered Take Out during a visit up here with some friends. The food has pretty good flavor, our order taker was very nice. He grabbed us another seat as we waited for our food. Very attentive when taking our order and gave us chips and salsa. I ordered the special that day, the Chicken Diablo and it was delicious. I just wish it were as spicy as I expected it to be when he asked me "you want it spicy" it was just a regular tomato sauce. My friends really liked their food, one got fish tacos and my other friend ordered a Steak Burrito, all good.
I plan on dining in the next time, and what it looks like it could BYOB, so that's a great time.
Yay, definitely I'm a fan. At Cinco de Mayo, what you see is not what you get – since the outdated decor of this place does not match with the good food they serve. I've tried their food twice – once, I've picked up, and the other one I've asked to deliver. And both the times I had some really good mexican food at my place.
The service is amazing – Arturo, the owner, is extremely friendly and make you fell extremely comfortable at the restaurant. While I was waiting for my order in the 1st time, he served some tortilla chips with pico de gallo for free. This guy knows how to handle customers. And it was really damn good! And when I asked for delivery, it took less than half hour!
Only had burritos so far – carnitas and LA, and both were extremely good. Everything well seasoned, great portions, perfect. Nothing to complain about the food and service! Well done, Arturo.
The restaurant itself it's the only issue – seems outdated and not very inviting to stay in. I would love to stay and have the food right out of the kitchen. That said, I can definitely say this is one of the best Mexican places in the area. Great food, service and cost-benefit. A restoration would definitely gave them a 5-star rating.
Keep up the good work!
Small place, packed… usually I do take out from here. Peoples are friendly but foods are just so so. I just didn't like how they handle the food.
I've been living in Fort Lee for many years but just tried Cinco De Mayo for the first time 2 weeks ago.
First of all, I have to say, the interior decor is a bit underwhelming, there is a huge bar that almost take 1/4 of dining room but since they don't provide alcohol , I wonder if it's better to get rid of the bar so there would be more spacious and could offer more seats ?
I tried ceviche, paella and skirt steak, I really like the paella. It is full of seafood ( clams, fish , small squids, shrimps) and tastes very fresh. The portion is very satisfying. I will definitely recommend this dish.
I feel they put too much tomato sauce in the Ceviche and it tastes on the sweeter side which I did not particularly like, but it was not bad, I could see some people would enjoy it. I just prefer my ceviche with more lime and taste more citrus flavor. Skirt steak is a bit let down, I would not recommend this dish to you. The complimentary chips and salsa are wonderful, the chips tasted very crispy and fresh, the salsa is light but full of flavor, I really really like it.
I can see myself return to this place again whenever I an craving for the Paella.
however, I found out the price of some items on their menu are different than the price on their flier and on their website. The price of paella and skirt steak on their flier and on website are listed $17.95 but they are $19.95 on the menu if you dine in, I am not sure if it's they forgot to update the price on the website or they just charged more for customers who dine in. I will check with waiters next time when i return.
BYOB, if you forget to bring wine or beer, there is a liquor store very close to it.
