This is one of my main go to places for press sandwiches and smoothies. I've been coming to this place for awhile and their service is also very friendly. They remember their regular customers and treat you well.
If you're coming here for the first time, definitely get their Shrimp Poboy sandwich and/or their Chicken Avocado pressed sandwich. These are their two main hits! Their shrimp poboy has just the right amount of kick to it with a good amount of the friend shrimp and their add ins.
The Chicken Avocado pressed sandwich is my second go to sandwich as well, mainly because it includes chicken, guacamole, and chipotle sauce! If you're a St. John's student I recommend getting this sandwich after a workout along with a smoothie and adding in a scoop of whey protein!
They have a variety of different flavored smoothies. I personally always order their Berry Blast with a scoop of whey protein, especially after a workout this hits the spot. You get a great amount of antioxidants from the berries and protein!
To me, this is one of the better cafe's/sandwich places in the Fresh Meadows area. They have a great variety on their menu from soups, breakfast items, sandwiches, burgers, salads, and more!
Their delivery is also very reliable as well. I work at Progressive Martial Arts and this is our main place to order from!
Chicken avocado pressed sandwich. Get it and you won't regret it. It's one of their most ordered sandwiches and although it is a bit expensive, the melt in your mouth avocado is worth it. I've also tried their frozen coffee latte and it was amazing, very well made and in the right ratios. The owner is extremely friendly and tries his best to make the customer happy. I have also tried the Italian wedding soup and chicken noodle soup. It's really great pick-me-up if you're feeling sick or even if it's just cold out. I've been coming to this place for quite a while and don't understand why I've never reviewed this place, but here goes.
I've ordered practically everything off of their menu. My favorite is their shrimp po boy sandwich. I come here all the time for breakfast as well and they never seem to disappoint.
Basically just order anything and you will like it. The staff are extremely friendly and their food has that homemade feel to it. That is why I'm a regular here. Parking is not difficult to find if you're a driver. Plastic is not frowned upon here which is also a plus.
After reading the yelp reviews I decided to take G here for lunch today.
After ordering we sat down in the small but accommodating dining area. There is bench seating against each wall with tables and chairs pulled up to the bench areas. There is plenty of room for people wanting to sit and each lunch, but staying more time than just during lunch might be an issue. This is a lunch place not a coffee shop. No loitering here.
G ordered the Tuna melt and I had the Chicken, avocado with chipotle mayo melt.
The sandwiches were delivered in a timely manner and were very warm. G commented on how much tuna was in the melty pressed sandwich. I am not a fan of the tuna sandwich so I passed on the taste test. G was hungry so his sandwich left the vicinity rather quickly. My chicken, avocado tasty warm sandwich was delicious. The sandwich maker(s) really placed a substantial amount of chicken in the sandwich and there was no skimping on the avocado either. The chipotle mayo was spicy and good and really complemented the sandwich. I would definitely order this sandwich again, after I try a few different items on the menu.
We did inquire about delivery, but unfortunately their delivery is a smaller radius and our place is a bit far for them to deliver. Parking here is difficult because its just street parking and there are a lot of businesses within these blocks which are near St Johns University. If you feel that you need to walk off your sandwich and have some retail therapy, there is a TJ Maxx right in front of this wonderful sandwich shop.
Nice friendly service and a good sandwich, what else could you need. Breakfast is served until noon.
I've come here over a dozen times already. Whether it's with a friend, with a group, or by myself, this is a great place for me to sit and eat at. It's one of the better food places, in my opinion, near St. John's University. I always get the curry chicken wrap with apple and raisin salad. It is enough to get me full and I like how it tastes. What a great escape from most of the terrible food on campus. Customer service is great and tables are clean. The owner remembers me and I believe he remembers what I order all the time too. I like CJ's cafe so much that I actually like to bring many of my friends here. One thing that I don't like is that while the wrap is nice to bite into sometimes, it can also sometimes be hard. Other than that, I'd highly recommend this cafe to those who are around St. John's. Try it out at least once and let me know what you think – I'm thinking about finally ordering something different in the future. They also have a card where if you order 9 sandwiches, you get one for free, and their wifi is free and fast.

Whether it's eating in or ordering out, CJ's is a solid sandwich place. I actually prefer this over Double J's. My favorite is the three cheese, which comes with sundried tomatoes and pesto. I add some kind of meat to go with this pressed sandwich. It's just enough to satisfy you without putting you into a food coma. Go for the lychee shake! Super refreshing and not too sweet or too subtle.
Delicious panini! I usually get the chicken avocado and the shrimp po boy. They have a few seatings but I usually order to go. They have a stamp card. Buy 9 sandwiches and the 10th is free!
this place makes delicious sandwiches and you can always call to place an order over the phone for pick up. my friends and I order from here all the time before we head to the beach in the summer. the owners are so friendly and they actually remember what my friend orders all the time and knows it's for him when I place his order. chicken cutlet sandwiches FTW!
