  1. My friend lives in the area and asked me to meet her for lunch here. I arrived and promptly snagged a table outside to wait for my friend (it was a gorgeous sunny day and I was NOT going to miss out on soaking up some rays).

Apparently my friend had only ever ordered their takeout, so the lunch buffet was new to both of us. At ~$10, it was very reasonable priced. I tend to lean towards veggie dishes when I'm eating Indian food, and I have to note I was not impressed with the eggplant dish, but everything else I tried was good.

The complimentary iced tea was delicious, and our server was kind enough to bring us each a refill — a much-appreciated gesture while sitting outside on such a hot day.

  2. This is a hip and trendy place right in Harlem. The owner of the place is this young and friendly guy. He was so accommodating to us and definitely made the whole dining experience that much better.

I really liked the interior – it was hip and had a unique touch to it. We were the first ones there that morning, so it felt like we rsvp'd the whole place to ourselves!

They offer lunch buffet for about $10 M-F until 3PM. I came here on a weekend, so I'm not too sure how accurate I am on this. I would definitely come here more often if I lived near the area.

If you're into spicy, ask the owner to try the restaurant's reaaaaaaaally spicy sauce. I couldn't handle it myself, but I'm sure someone else can 🙂

The food came out really quickly. It helped to come when the kitchen first opened up for the day. I had the garlic nan and beef tikki masala. My boyfriend had the chicken masala. they offer chicken masala v. chicken tikki masala. The difference is in the type of chicken meat they use (dark v. white).

The bill came out to about $30 which is pretty typical for an Indian restaurant in NYC.

  3. My girlfriend and I ordered delivery from this place after reading the overwhelmingly positive reviews. Unfortunately, we did NOT share the sentiments of all those previously pleased diners.

I don't have much to say because this place didn't have much to offer me. I ordered the saag paneer and some garlic naan and my friend opted for the chana masala- fine. The delivery took over an hour (which I kind of expect with Indian restaurants) and that wasn't the most upsetting part.

This food was absolutely tasteless. I mean, how is it that I order a should-be flavorful dish like saag paneer with homemade cheese, and yet I taste nothing?! Worse than bad food, is a place that isn't bold enough to make their offerings taste like…anything at all. The chana masala was a little better than the spinach, but too greasy. Overall, not even a little bit impressed.

They'll keep the second star because the food was at least hot, and the naan was the only thing that tasted good, or had much taste at all. Never again, especially with Chapati House in the same delivery area.

  4. I hate giving low ratings when the service and venue are nice but I would be lying if I said the food met those same standards.

We went to the lunch buffet one weekday. The spread includes naan, 2 vegetarian dishes, 2 non-vegetarian dishes, rice, and dessert. They also include iced chai which was my FAVORITE part of the whole meal. It was so refreshing!

The naan was dry and not warm. One of the vegetarian dishes was palak paneer which left way too much to imagination. The pop of flavor was just not there, lacking in garlic and spice. The other saags were similar, just not enough spice and indian flavor. The chicken tikka was yummy but it was the only thing holding up the buffet in my opinion.

Indian buffets are awesome because they offer tons of flavor and options for a low price tag. Clove just didnt meet the mark. I'm sad to say I probably won't be back.

  5. Dropped down by three stars. Went here with my boyfriend two weeks ago and the food was horrible. Both of the chicken curry dishes tasted similar, the vegetable korma had raw potatoes and the naan was soggy due to the steam built up because they piled them up high on the buffet table. SO disappointed because I was in love with this place at first. And it was also a really convenient place to have lunch during break between classes.

hope they step their game up.

  6. The food is good and flavorful. Ask them to make it extra spicy. The service is also fast and friendly and all of the ingredients are pretty fresh. Good food for a good price; this stuff fills you up, so don't eat too much of it at once, come back many times instead.

  7. So good !!! I just got delivery from this place. I got the mutter paneer and it came with 3 sauces and a big bowl of rice. Definitely worth the $12.

The food was rich in flavor and the quantity was perfect. I will definitely be ordering from this place again!

    Thank you!

  8. The food here is delicious, and the service always exceptional. I'm happy that there's finally an Indian restaurant in the neighborhood, so no need to trek to the UWS when the craving hits. I love that they have an all you can eat buffet style during the week, usually with one or two vegan options.

Before I go there's just some things you need to know:
-The veg samosas and pakoras are delish, perfect with a side of tamarind sauce.
    – My favorite thing on the menu has to be the eggplant (aloo bengan) or the mushroom kadaii.
    – They have outdoor seating which is perfect during warm weather since you have a nice view of the beautiful campus nearby.
    – AYCE during weekdays (lunch time) is a must!

Overall, I'm so elated Clove Indian is here to stay. Thanks for setting the bar!
