Food truck review:
The food truck is at my work building maybe 2 or 3 days a week. It was introduced to me by another coworker and I fell in love with it. I don't like tacos but I crave these!
Calamari is the best!!!! Short Rib and Pork are also amazing. I had the fish once but i wasn't too impressed. The oyster mushroom was less flavorful than the meat choices. Had the Mach Dog and it was GREAT! I dont' think you can go wrong with anything!
Sooooo good!!!!! Be sure to try the tacos trio. My favorite is the short ribs! The meat is tender and flavorful. They park their food truck on 47th between 5th and 6th when they can get a spot during lunch between Monday and Friday. Go early to avoid the line.
Food Truck:
If you have not experienced the phenomenon known as the Coney Shack food truck, please do so immediately. Tacos are a little bit pricey, but well worth it. I normally get the beef short rib, pork and beer battered fish. All really good, especially the beer battered fish, I didn't even think I really liked fish tacos until I had this, so it's definitely one of the best fish tacos I've tasted. Toppings on each are great, the fish has thinly sliced raw onion with some kind of aioli sauce and shredded lettuce. Beef and Pork have sauteed onion and I believe both also have a chipotle mayo sauce on top (which I love). Seriously I have tried other taco trucks that stop by my office and none even come close to the Coney Shack. Definitely a go-to for me.
Holy phuc it's good. I mean, that's clearly why they named their hot dog as such. Not for the calorie watchers… this is a gloriously messy beef hotdog that is topped with fried fish, pickled onions, cheese, creole sauce and lemongrass aioli. I don't know why the hell it works… but it definitely did for me. I snagged this dog when the truck was visiting midtown last week. 48th between 6th and 7th.
My friend got a rice bowl with garlic lemongrass chicken. I had a bite and I really enjoyed it. It's not a spicy chix and rice like some of the ubiquitous halal carts turn out, but it was tasty in it's own right. I hope they visit midtown again soon.
