  1. I like that this Connecticut Muffin is here. Signs of the continued gentrification of Bed-Stuy and Crown Heights? Yes. Good food and tea? Also, yes.

Connecticut Muffin isn't a bad addition to Nostrand ave, albeit I was surprised to see it there. It really sticks out, you will have no problem finding it. I happened to check it out on one of the coldest days of the year (felt like 3 degrees according to my weather app) and only one person was inside, using the wifi that isn't supplied by CT Muffin.

The decor is simple and clean, with a good amount of tables and a thought out layout. I would spend time in here more often if it weren't a bit out of the way.

  2. The house blend coffee was perfect for me. Full bodied, not watery. Strong without being bitter. Would definitely get again. The egg sandwich was ok. Next time I will try a muffin which I am guessing is there specialty, since it is in the name of this place. And the bathroom was clean.

  3. I live in the neighborhood and was craving some coffee one early morning. Babe went and picked some up and let me tell you….it was the worst coffee ever. Just bad. Maybe an off day….but wow. Wow, how can you fail?

    Never to return again.

  4. Eh. I know it's a holiday (memorial day) and I'm sure the staff doesn't want to be there, but at least teach them to say hello to and respond to customers with their voice and not just a nod.  After waiting my turn in line, the man at the front counter didn't even say hello. I asked him if they accept cards and he simply nodded. I'm like, eh? Then I ordered my bagel sandwich and he left the counter to make it, accompanying another girl who was finishing someone's sandwich, leaving the counter abandoned and there were 2 other people were there waiting for their orders to be taken… Um… Maybe one person take the orders and the other one makes the food? To expedite things, and once everyone has placed their orders then help out your colleague in the back if she needs it? Well the girl finished the other customers sandwich and came back to ring me up. She charged me a dollar extra for my food than what was on the menu, and had I not been paying attention I would have missed it. I called the mistake out and she gave a little giggle but didn't apologize!!!! 🙁 overcharging someone is not cool! Then finally the dude came back with my bagel, wrapped up in a takeout bag…. The girl who overcharged me told him that I was staying in… He simply could have opened his mouth and asked me "for here or to go?" Simple!!!! Then he had to take my order out of the bag and put it in a plate. Very unprofessional staff.  Now I see why people hire undocumented workers who actually care about keeping their jobs. Even though they can't speak English, they do their best. Their starving family back in Mexico is dependent on their customer service and efficiency. Wish North American young counter staff would take a hint. One star for location and one more for providing a nice spot to work, but no more.

  5. So no, I didn't expect to see a Connecticut muffin in the location of a flower shop that had been in business for 40 years, but when my friend insisted that she needed a chai tea as we walked down Bergen St., we decided to stop in. I decided to take in an oversweetened hot chocolate that was delicious, but definitely has more sugar than the average person should knowingly take in. The staff seemed a bit slow and disconnected, but nice. I attribute the hiccups to it being so soon after they opened. The store.

Decent snack options, including cookies and cakes. I think they offer free wi-fi. They also have a long communal table to be shared by hipsters, students and coffee lovers alike.

  6. Like a masochistic, glutton for punishment I keep returning to this scene of gastrocrime. Why? It's the only place to get a cup of coffee around here when I visit my friend's church.

Please….do yourself a favor and believe every, poor review you read about this place. Should a blind family of snails decide to open a coffee/pastry/sandwich place in the area, they could work faster than these quicksand mired baristas.

I only ever get coffee here because there has never been a time I have patronized this establishment that their gaurd flies haven't been keeping a close watch over the sweet, sweet pastries. The flies are very diligent in their security detail.

I will say however, the mocha latte, when I finally recieve it after it is slowly and painstakingly prepared is delicious.

  7. I was first introduced to Connecticut Muffin at the Fort Greene location. I loved that it's cozy and generally quiet as customers enjoy their snack, sandwich, or coffee while typing away at their laptops. Great food options, fair prices, positive experience. I welcome the new addition to the neighborhood.

  8. This place is a neighborhood gem for breakfast, lunch or coffee.  The communal tables are fun and it's new so it's very clean (for now).
CT Muff (as I call it) as other attributes but I am giving it 4 stars solely because it serves the most delicious "oatmeal" I have ever tasted.  I put "oatmeal" in "quotes" because theirs is like no other oatmeal I've ever tasted.  It is akin to a hot muesli – oats, dried cranberries, almonds, cinnamon and your choice of hot milk (including soy!).  CT Muff is my #1 breakfast spot in my new 'hood.  I couldn't make it better myself.
