  1. I never would have thought of enjoying cookie dough by the bowl, but wow, this was good! My two friends and I shared two different flavors in the size that costs $10 each- the dunkaroo and something else (I forgot what it was called!!). Both were very yummy and definitely hit the sweet spot. I honestly couldn't tell the difference between the flavors too much but my friends tasted the difference.

It'll be difficult to get through one whole thing and can last you quite a while. Us three girls were probably better off getting just one, but it was a good experience trying two flavors out. You're able to bake them also, which is a plus!

If you're a cookie dough fanatic or just love sweets, I would recommend trying them out!

  2. The entrance was inconspicuous but luckily we saw the sign outside. The Cake Batter Cookie was my favorite!!

The Heavenly came with the cutest little hazelnuts and chocolate chips. The Smores came with mini marshmallows.

  3. So they don't actually have a store front. You have to go up some stairs and you'll immediately notice their shop. They have all the cookie do's all freshly made and even make special one's for the holidays. The cutest thing is they even have cookie do for the pet lovers! I purchased one for my puppy and she loved it! I also purchased the cake batter which came with Valentine sprinkles. The presentation was really cute and it tasted great as well. The sugar was not overwhelming and I felt like I was eating real cake batter but even better and I didn't have the fear of eating raw eggs! The price for their small container is $10. I felt like the price was extremely reasonable and fair.
Btw, the cool thing is if you don't want to eat it out of the container, you can bake it!

  4. The idea of Cookie Do is awesome! Who doesn't dream of eating cookie dough straight off a spoon?! And bonus! It's egg-free so your irrational fear of salmonella poisoning is gone!

In execution though… I'm not so sure this works. Here's why:

    1) The location is in an apartment(?) that you have to buzz into and walk up to the 2nd floor. A bit awkward, but OK.
    2) There is no seating so you'll have to dig into your dough elsewhere. This might be for the best, as it's a super tiny space, and the employees aren't very friendly or inviting.
    3) The cups of cookie dough are frozen so you have to wait until it thaws out to eat it.
    4) The cups of cookie dough are also pre-packaged so there is no sampling.
    5) And you'll want to try it before you buy it because the 8oz cups cost $10!
    6) $10!!!!!
    7) There was nothing very special about it. Their Signature Chocolate Chip was okay. Their S'Mores flavor did not look like the product description picture AT ALL. The picture showed cookie dough mixed in with a whole mess of marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers… but in reality, it was just plain dough topped with 2 mini marshmallows and 2 pieces of graham crackers. Insulting.

Eep! I will take my chances with raw eggs and either make my own cookie dough or buy the Nestle Tollhouse packs from the supermarket… when they're on sale for $2.50.

  5. What could be bad about eating cookie dough?  Nothing!  I walk by here every day on my way to and from work, and am always tempted to go in, but have only made it twice.

I've been reading other reviews and people complain about the dumbest stuff.  Yes, you have to ring a buzzer, and walk a flight up.  It's a good workout before you eat it.  The place is small, but it doesn't really have to be that big.  They have a few people working there, a little counter with all their flavors listed, and someone there to help assist you.  The whole thing seems like a pretty straight forward concept to me.

I've only been twice, so I haven't had a chance to try too much.  My first time there, I think I went with confetti – chocolate and white chocolate chips mixed in with sprinkles.  So good!  Also I feel like people complained about price, but the smallest option is 8oz for $10, so it's good to either share it or eat in multiple sittings.  I stopped in this past week when I read somewhere it was national cookie dough day.  What a good excuse to stop in!  I went with funfetti dunkaroo – sprinkles, frosting and teddy grahams mixed in.  So cute!  And they give you a little bag of teddy grahams to dip into it. It was great, and I ate it over three days, so definitely worth it.  Also since it was national cookie dough day they gave a free little sample of their confetti, which was a nice bonus.

Before I left I had asked about their cookie dough ice cream sandwiches I'd seen (probably) on Instagram.  She told me they have them all the time, unless they sell out.  I was not ready to eat right then, so I didn't get one, but I definitely plan on going back to try it!

  6. Really cool and unique place. VERY hidden off the beaten path on the 2nd floor next to Tuttles. The cookie dough is great and has a dual purpose- can eat it straight or make it into cookies- can't decide which I like better. I LOVED the nuts for nuts- I am a sucker for peanut butter cups, though. Will come back again to try more, and will probably get the 16 oz next time.

  7. Just found out you can also get Cookie Do at Dylan's Candy Bar right off Union Square! If you can't make it to their 2nd Avenue location during their hours, I highly recommend picking up a container from Dylan's. It's too good to pass up.

  8. $14 for a tiny container of cookie dough that's indistinguishable from store bought?  Pass.

The cookie dough from DO is fine, not great and definitely not worth the price.  I went with some coworkers to get a midday snack from Cookie DO.  The shop is difficult to find because it's not really a shop at all.  It's a weird room above a psychic that's a combo storage room/kitchen.  We definitely thought we were in the wrong place at first.
After being assured we were in the right place by one of the many staff in the place we all came in to pick out some flavors.  There's not really any options to customize the dough you get, it's mainly just their pre-existing flavors and combos that you can choose from.  I tried a sample of the sugar cookie which was good, but no better than any other cookie dough I've had before.  I ended up buying the larger container of chocolate chip.  Larger = maybe a pint, maybe a little less?  Anyway, it was $14 which is practically offensive considering the quality.
The dough itself was fine.  It had a weird taste that was maybe artificial sweetener, maybe just whatever kind of chocolate chips they used.  Either way, it wasn't great definitely worse than Pillsbury taste-wise.

Next time I want a tub of cookie dough I'll just walk over to Whole Foods and buy something there.  Will probably be similar quality ingredients but will assuredly taste better.  Can't guarantee Whole Foods would be any cheaper, but at least I'll want to eat it.
