I came here with a friend after work for happy hour. It was delicious, fun & the absolute perfect vibe. I highly recommend it!
We did the blind taste testing — three huge tastings of wine (almost full glasses) for $15. The deal ends at 6 pm. I did the white tasting and my friend did the red. I liked mine (would've been happier if there was a Pinot or Sauv Blanc in the mix), but she absolutely loved her.
The wait staff was awesome and super friendly. The sommelier gave us a sheet and walked us through characteristics to look for in the wine. After the tasting, the waitress let us try samples before ordering a whole glass.
They recommended the chef meat & cheese board. You get tons of food for $42. We were SO impressed with the homemade ricotta and the soppresata.
We went on a Thursday PM. It got crowded, but not overwhelmingly or overbearing so.
Overall, such a fun, different & delicious way to spend a happy hour! I really can't wait to come back and try one of their classes. 🙂
My boyfriend and I came to corkbuzz for wine class titled Tour of Italy. We got there a little early and had a glass of wine at the bar. When we ordered it, the bartender gave us a detailed explanation of the wine and where it came from. I thought that was really cool. The class was set up at a long table. We had 6 different types to taste: three reds, three whites. They also had bread and cheese, which was nice. Ryan gave the class and he was very knowledgable. We learned so much and it was really interesting! They gave us a print out of the list of wines we tasted and a map of Italy with its regions. We were able to take notes on that page, which was great. We had a really nice time and learned a lot and I would definitely return for another wine class or just to get some wine at the bar or a table.
I walked in here on Saturday night with a few friends and the waiter said it was their "Champagne Campaign" and all champagne was half price! That's the last thing I remember.
EPIC. We found this spot as we were walking thru Chelsea Market and had planned on coming by for a light bite. When I looked it up on the internet, I found they have a second location on west union square. So, we booked a res at this location, which is nearer to the dinner peeps. Lovely wine bar. Seating was open and not on top of the next table. Menu was filled with plenty of different directions to go in. The wine list was super, as it was expected to be, as the owner is a master sommelier! We chose a lovely red and decided on appetizers. Starting with calamari, Brussels, and a 3 item plate of small snacks: crisp radishes, house potato chips (because I don't eat potato chips, said no one ever!) and gougeres (a small fontina bite) and while there were just three of us, there was nothing left on any appetizer plate! Dinners were a mix. A hangar steak that was wonderful, the dinner portion of lobster cavatelli (to die for) and a burger (cooked perfectly rare plus). The food was a hit among my foodie group. Again, not a morsel of food left on any plate! Desserts were chosen by my traveling pastry guru who loved both creations. Winner Winner. Staff was exceptional and the food was wonderful. Will be on our "regulars"'list.
Corkbuzz hosted our large group. The menu included a few whites and (sadly) only one red with a variety of appetizers.
The restaurant was hoping and our meeting room was comfortably full. The kitchen and wait staff definitely kept up with the hungry drinkers. The servers were spot on. They kept the wine and beer glasses full and the food flowing.
The space is large and open, but there is little to no acoustic softening. The room can get very loud.
Kudos to the Corkbuzz for working hard to keep our group happy, fed and glasses full.
Always lovely, in my experience(s)! Their wines are great, but certainly don't forego the food: the house-made ricotta, in particular, is to die for.
Also amazing: recently, I tried a small portion of their butternut squash agnolotti (accented with forest mushroom, tuscan kale, hazelnut), and oh my god, it was one of the best things I've ever tasted. I hope it's never removed from the menu!
This makes for an absolutely lovely date spot, but is also perfect for winding down after a long day with a friend, or even on your own.
PS – I much prefer this location to its counterpart at Chelsea Market.
I chose this restaurant because of the extensive wine list and the fact that the kitchen stayed open until midnight when I was looking to have an 11:30 dinner. I was very pleasantly surprised by the selection and the quality of the dinner menu. We shared the entree portion of the beet risotto (which was incredibly delicious although arguably a bit small to be called entree-sized) and the short rib with polenta which was incredibly tender and flavorful. We enjoyed a nice bottle of 2007 Rioja which was stored properly in the cellar and served slightly chilled. Hope to return soon!
Visited Corkbuzz this past Friday night. From the front of the store, the place looks tiny but the space is pretty expansive when you enter into the bar. Great venue for a glass of wine (or two) with a friend or significant other. The atmosphere makes for a conducive place to converse and catch up. Extensive wine menu and a list of cocktails. The food smelled and looked great too, but didn't get a chance to try it as I already had a big dinner.
