The food was nice (Turkish lamb meatballs and quinoa)
Popped in on way home from a meeting, very arty and didn't realise they have jazz bands on – eclectic is how I'd describe this place.
Dined alone, worth it for overhearing the conversations around me, pure west village…
Beautiful cafe/restaurant which is set on a quiet street with lovely food and nice service above and somewhere either out the back or down below, I don't know, live music now and then
The wine list (yes starting with the wine) is nice and varied with wines from around the world on offer. We chose the Malbec which was a lovely drop
I had the steak and it was done just right and all the meals that came out for the friends i was with got an 'mmm' rating which I am taking as tasty. I did spy a couple of other dishes which presented well too.
The service was excellent, making it easy for one of the few times in my nyc trip to tip well
They had some art work displayed around the walls from a local artist which was a nice touch
I stopped in on a whim and I was impressed. I usually am skeptical about restaurants with less than four stars but I'm glad I made an exception. It sits on a quiet neighborhood so it is easy to miss, but it's definitely worth the effort in looking out for if you're in the area.
I had the turkish style meatballs and quinoa and I thought it was lovely. I highly recommend it if you're in the mood for something with a kick of spice. I was also able to try the steak and frites (courtesy of my date) and thought it was really nice. I wish I was able to try more on the menu, but despite this, I think Cornelia Street Cafe is a winner.
This place is big & nice. We came here for brunch & glad that they still have table for us because most of the restaurant around the area is packed that day.
For drinks I got bloody marry & didn't like it. It was not the taste that I expected. My bf got coffee & it taste okay.
For food I got egg benedict- it has ham, salad & potato on the side. My boyfriend got bistro burger- english muffin bread with bacon & beef patty with salad & fries on the side. Food was okay. It was plain & simple.
They have comedy show every saturday for $10 fee.
I'm giving 3 stars because we didn't really enjoy the food but service was good.
I've been to Cornelia Street a handful of times over the past decade and have consistently had positive experiences. Whether it was enjoying a fantastic dinner upstairs or a fun, story-telling show downstairs, Cornelia Street always offers you a good time.
Located on a picturesque street in a picturesque nabe, Cornelia Street Cafe is definitely a city institution. I'd bookmarked it expecting to try their famed brunch, but happened to stop by for dinner with a friend the other night. Without a reservation, we were seated towards the back of the restaurant where, although it was nice and quiet, it felt pretty stuffy.
Once we had settled in, I took note of the overall interior of the cafe, which is very quaint and vaguely French feeling, definitely cute and a great place to bring friends and dates alike. My friend ordered the portobello burger and I opted for the warm goat cheese salad (endive, mesclun, goat cheese). I added chicken for $4 and asked if they could add walnuts (seemed strange to me that a goat cheese salad with endive didn't have some kind of nuts in it – this dish needs some crunch!). When my salad came out, I was pleased to see the goat cheese had been lightly broiled/torched, but was disappointed at how small it was. It was enough to fill me up, but for a total of $16, it was mediocre in size and flavor. The goat cheese and dressing combined and completely overwhelmed the greens, which became soggy halfway through eating it. Friend seemed to enjoy her burger.
I would still come back to sample their brunch, but probably only if someone else suggested it. Not really a place I would come back to on my own. 4 stars for ambience, 3 stars for food, 3 stars for prices. I didn't experience hideous service like some of the other reviewers, and I did appreciate them accommodating my request for walnuts.
This is a nice place on Cornelia street with a good selection of wines. You can can sample the wines via flights for $15. The prices are a bit north. The owner is really nice and delightful. Only gripe I had was the wait on the food we ordered. it was a simple order ( frites, small pizza) yet it took about 40 minutes. The pizza was good but the frites were just ok. I expected more. At the moment there is no happy hour but was told that they are working on it.
Came here for brunch with my mom on a Sunday morning. The waiter was very attentive, very friendly, and very fun to have around. I also found the seating hostess to be very accommodating – we asked to sit outside when nothing was set, and she immediately jumped to it and made sure that we were very well taken care of. The food was really good – I had the farmers breakfast, and my mom had the quiche. I recommend coming and sitting outside – the one problem was that all the tables seemed to be a bit off-kilter, but I think that was more a problem with the sidewalk.
