  1. Almond croissants from Choice market/Dough folks, and yeah, this is my current favorite cafe. Plus, the drip coffee is very tasty. With a little cinnamon and touch of half and half, and it's my go-to when I'm in the mood for a cup. Another highlight, they also carry Dough doughnuts sans markup.

    The atmosphere is super cute. Large windows that face Bedford Avenue and the cross street. There's an array of shared seating, though this space is still quite intimate. It seems like a lot of people work and hang out here.  I take my book occasionally, and sometimes my diary and/or laptop to do some writing on.

    The staff is nice enough. While the pastries keep me coming back, I have tried an egg sandwich sometime ago. It was okay. They seem to have quite a robust menu, so perhaps I'll sample something new sometime. Until then, almond pastries it will be.

  2. Not sure what the 1 star review is about, but Corner Grind is a 3.5 in my book, rounding up to 4 for the potential of the space. There's been a dearth of coffee shops on Bedford- especially in the no man's land between the G and the C train stops. This area is in need of a good sit down spot to get a caffeine fix, so it's nice to finally see this much-needed coffee shop open up. Corner Grind serves Brooklyn Roasting Comp coffee, Dough doughnuts, other miscellaneous pastries, savory wraps, salads, and various other small eats. While the price point is high for the area (unfortunately the price of a rapidly changing BedStuy), the food and coffee are decent, service is friendly, and the space (they have the woody, industrial, weathered Brooklyn charm down) is a cozy spot to work (free wifi!) or hang out. There's even a public restroom for those who choose to hang out for a bit longer. My main complaint is the lack of seating and table space. I also wish they accepted credit cards and had more milk options. The shop is certainly large enough for more seating and tables– with a bit of reshuffling and the addition of some tables and chairs, Corner Grind definitely has the potential to become a neighborhood mainstay.

  3. I was starving hungry and in need of a Cobb salad. We went here for breakfast.

    The iced coffee was good, very smooth. No bitterness. The Cobb salad had nice fresh vegetables and some perfectly cooked bacon, but was positively diminutive. There were a few tiny slices of (perfectly ripe) avocado, and the cheese was just a dusting. I was still ravenous after eating it. My boyfriend enjoyed his bacon egg and cheese on croissant, but found the size of it too small.

    Good food. Portions too small.

  4. Love the wooden-looking floor and wall tiles. Coffee is fine. Disappointed by the turkey burger and fries. The turkey didn't seem like real meat and had no real taste. The fries were kind of soggy.

    They take cash only.

    There's very limited seating, even though they have a big communal table. It would be nice to have several additional smaller tables.

  5. ++
    – Friendly staff
    – Good iced coffee

  6. Great addition to the neighborhood!  Really glad to have someplace nearby to get some Brooklyn Roasting Co coffee, my personal favorite, after leaving DUMBO where I had regular access [tear].

    It's a quite nice space on the inside, with seating all around and plugs for computers.  Service is friendly and pretty quick (at first we sat with coffees in ceramic mugs and ate our breakfast, and when we asked for smalls to go as we were leaving, the waitress just charged us for refills.  It's the small things that matter sometimes!)  None of the overcharging and hostile-hipster nonsense of Daily Press.

    Yes, they do have Dough doughnuts, but the breakfast cup (eggs, sausage, cheese grits) and burrito were both solid as well.  Looking forward to trying their burger sometime.

  7. I had been wanting to try this place for a while. When I went in there was absolutely nothing on display (it looked closed) and the counter girl had her head resting on the counter and didn't even notice us until my daughter said something. Coffee was good though per the 3 stars.
