  1. This is the best Indian restaurant in New Rochelle. We ordered take out from
    this restaurant once before and had them cater a birthday party for 30 as well. Their chicken tikka masala, samosas, biryani and lamb curry are superb. Their naan and parathas are good but not the greatest. The service is good and the venue is pretty nice.

  2. Have been to Coromandel twice. Once for the lunch buffet and the other time for the standard dinner menu. In both cases, they have very good, prompt service. Papadams are complimentary here, unlike some Indian restaurants that want to charge a few dollars for them. At the lunch buffet, they have good selection of items including vegetarian options and dishes with chicken, lamb, and a rarity for Indian dining: beef. The buffet was kept stocked with fresh items, too, so there were not dishes that were sitting for hours on a warmer. Dinner there also had great food and flavor. They have a good selection for desert including a fried banana dish served with ice cream and drizzled with honey that was very good, too. One bad thing here: the server did a poor job presenting a bottle of wine. He poured the whole bottle out serving three people vs. giving standard pours and leaving the bottle on ice for us.

  3. This is by far, one of the best Indian restaurants I've visited, time and time again. They never disappoint, whether we come for the lunch buffet or a la carte. The staff is always pleasant and attentive, the bathrooms are always clean and we've never had a problem getting a table.

    The lunch buffet has a wonderful selection of various curry dishes, vegetable dishes and tandoori. The price is right at $12 on weekdays (noon-2:30p) and $16 on weekends (noon-3p). They usually have one or two desserts, my favourites being the Halwa (carrot pudding), Gulab Jamun (sweet dumplings) and the Kheer (rice pudding). Every time we visit, we leave full and  satisfied.

    Their Samosas have gotten much better since I last remember. The dough is way lighter so you can actually enjoy the whole thing without becoming overly full. Their Naan is always good; it's soft and warm and I love getting the garlic variety. Every meal comes with Papadum (thin baked bread crisp) and a few condiments of tamarind sauce, onions and a cilantro sauce. I love their curries, both Phaal and Vindaloo are my favourites and I usually pick either Lamb, Goat or Shrimp as my protein. They're extremely spicy but an order of Raita will help cool it down. The Biriyani is top notch, as is their Tandoori Chicken, unbelievably juicy. If you're feeling adventurous, try some of their Hot Pickle condiment which is basically spicy pickled lime. Just writing about it makes my mouth water.

    I would suggest that you take advantage of their buffet if you haven't visited before so you get the opportunity to try a variety of items. Weekdays are less crowded bit get there early because there tends to be a steady flow of people throughout their lunch rush. Also, make sure to fill out a comment card so that you stay alert with their events and specials.

Very nice Indian restaurant where we eat often.  They have a small bar with an excellent Mango Margarita and a selection of Indian beers.  The service is good, there are both old standbys with a number of different items to try as well.  Portions are a good size (usually you will bring home left overs). I like the Coromandel dumplings as an appetizer and all their vegetarian dishes make you nearly  (smile) say you can be a non-meat eater.

  5. We arrived in New Rochelle in the late evening after a day full of travel. My wife and kids stayed back at the hotel while I walked the nearby streets to find something for dinner. I eventually settled on Coromandel Cuisine of India, a small chain based mostly in Connecticut.

    I found a seat at the bar and looked over the menu. After placing a carry out order I asked for a beer while I waited and was also given a complimentary appetizer, which was a nice touch. The food was prepared very quickly and I was soon on my way back to the hotel.

    I was immediately impressed by the amount of food I received. The entrées themselves were of normal size but again there was another complimentary appetizer in the bag. My wife and shared the chicken saag ($16.95) and chicken tikka masala ($16.95) along with a side of garlic naan ($3.95).

    The saag was not as good as I'm used to, but the tikka masala was tasty. Plus the garlic naan was some of the best I've had. The price seemed quite high to me, but that is somewhat to be expected in New York, and at least there are some freebies thrown in to somewhat offset the cost. Overall we had a mostly positive experience with Coromandel.

  6. My sister had scheduled her night-before-the-wedding dinner here with about 14 people. After calling a number of places to set up reservations for a large group on Saturday night, this is the only one that would actually do it. So Indian it was.

    Mad props to Coromandel Cuisine for they were delicious. Not only did they do a great job in taking care of our large party, but the food was absolutely amazing. I don't know if there was anything I didn't like and though three of us decided to split the sampler appetizer and two entrees with each other, we still had a ton of leftovers.

    We ordered the lamb gosht and chicken korma, both of which were really good. The standout, in my opinion though, was the chicken tikka masala. Not one to usually order it, I tried a friend's masala dish and wowee! I want to say it's one of the best I've ever eaten. Not the usual toxic orange, plus it had some texture in it (from nuts, I think). It's kind of sad but I may be willing to make a trip up to New Rochelle next time in town if I'm craving chicken tikka masala.

    They also are one of the few places that carry strawberry lassi, though they go very heavy on the cardomom so I suggest you love that spice if you are to order it.

  7. The weekday lunch buffet is great!  For $11.95 you get your fill of chicken tikka masala, chana saag, beef baj pal, whatever that delicious vegetable curry is called, fragrant basmati rice, naan etc. plus white napkin service.  Definitely one of the best deals in New Rochelle.

  8. Came here for dinner–which was very filling, large portions and the prices were just right. Not to mention a full bar! The vegetarian Samosas were large and tasted great but only 2 for $8 sucked. The Vegatarian Briyani rice was such a large portion and had alot of flavour–my mouth was deff in heaven. However, i hated how it was made with frozen veggies. I would have thought a small place like this would actually cut their veggiesMy date got some type of lamb skwers and we were taking bets if it were the appetizers or not, the portion was so large. it even came with rice! but it was not an entree! . Downfall to this place? The temperature. It was hot in here, gotta put up that AC people!
