Wow. I grew up in Paterson and know I will find the best Peruvian there. I live in RI so have not been able to go back for a while. After a full day of car shopping with my dad and not eating all day – he brought me here. I got Papa la huancaina and after eating it in other places for the past couple of years – the difference was so obvious. SO Good. I got Jalea and my dad got seafood soup (I wont butcher the name). everything was amazing and really made me realize how much better authentic peruvian is. so glad my dad brought me here.
The food is pretty good, Salt is heavy handed but thats what makes it good. Portions are huge. It should be enjoyed family style. The tallarin with hauguayna sauce with thin steak on top is very rich. It's like spaghetti with Peruvian alfredo sauce. It even comes with a fried/roasted potato with the steak that goes over the noodles.
I like coming here over the other peruvian places on the opposite end of Market street because there is more parking and less human traffic.
I don't come here often, but when I do. I take my cholesterol meds and drink lots of water.
While not high on the ambiance scale, this is a gem of a find. One of the top Peruvian restaurants around. I've yet to have a bad meal here. PERUVIAN, NOT MEXICAN! DELICIOUS
