  1. I don't know how I haven't reviewed this place sooner!

Coszcal (formerly known as Panchos) is an extremely authentic Mexican Restaurant in Bay Ridge that is family owned. The food here is very good. I have tried numerous dishes here from tacos to enchiladas to the entree plates and everything is very good. Notably my favorite picks would be the chicken enchiladas and the pork entree. The meat is well seasoned and the rice and beans are good as well. This place also makes really good drinks! The Margaritas are on point every single time. I highly recommend enjoying a nice drink with your meal here (mango margarita is my fav). They also have a backyard seating area for the warmer months which is nice. The decor inside and out is all Mexican inspired and really gives you the feeling that you are not in Brooklyn/Bay Ridge anymore. This place is really cute and the service is very nice I highly recommend!

  2. Definitely the best Mexican food in bay ridge by far. And some of the best margaritas you'll find around. I've never had a bad meal here the tacos, burritos, menu specials it's all been good. The food is legit the drinks are tasty and strong the service is good What more can I ask for

  3. This place is changing quite a bit in the past two years, including decors, menus and price, Nachos are still so damn good!
Happy hour specials are worth going! but the portion is reduced quite a bit, we ended up ordering quite some dishes and still not fully full!
Margaritas is the way to down all the nachos and tacos! I like mine w/o salt 😉

  4. Happy hour mon-fri until 7pm, sadly I missed it!

    Food:
5/5 horchata, or shall i say horchat-ahhh. it was sweet, refreshing, well flavored with cinnamon and beats any horchata i've had so far. $4 is a hefty price to pay for one mason jar of horchata, but it will be the price i'll be paying until i find one that can top their's.
5/5 enchiladas. I paid the extra $1.50 for the steak enchiladas and they were flavorful with the right amount of kick. it comes with the salsa vert on the bottom which adds a good amount of heat to this skillet without adding any tears to your eyes. within in the skillet, i assume there were three flour tortilla tacos drenched in heavenly sauces and cheese. it's also pretty cool how they let you pick between corn/flour tortillas.
3/5 quesadilla. it was lacking filling in the middle and in the ends and it came out noticably greasy.  nobody wants to eat the ends of a quesadilla with no filling – that's just empty carbs! they could've also added some extra guac and pico because they only provided us enough for half the quesadilla to be dipped into.
++ complimentary chips with flavorful salsa.

    Service:
Friendly waitstaff, but food took 45 minutes to come out (for 2 dishes) when the restaurant wasn't filled. Extremely quick with refills on the water and quick to offer their personal favorites or any suggestions when ordering 🙂

  5. I stumbled across this fabulous mexican restaurant today and wow what a treat! Right away I was greeted by the friendly hostess/waitress and she even provided her recommendation on what I should order. My food was absolutely tasty and the best part was the glass of red sangria that I ordered on the side which is only 5.00 during happy hour. Im not in Bay Ridge often but if I ever come back you bet i will be visiting here again!! I cant wait to try the other goodies on the menu.

  6. Came here on Cinco de Mayo and apparently they were not prepared for the traffic. The great part is that there is a pretty decent sized backyard. No-frills or anything but pretty relaxed and great to get some fresh air. The waitstaff seem very nice and were very apologetic, but it definitely took about 40 minutes even for our drinks to come. That being said everyone like their food. I got the shrimp enchiladas with salsa Verde. Although it is unacceptable to wait 40 minutes for service I think that they are usually pretty quiet and did not expect the amount of people that were there. I am still giving four stars based on the quality of the food ,friendliness of the people and cool looking space. The indoors also looks very nice and colorful.
Keep in mind it is the type of place that does the very basic taco with only meat cilantro and onions.

Nice little restaurant run by a wife and husband operation.  The food is okay but nothing really to write home about.  Not actually sure it matches up to the competition down the street on that front, but the decor here is much more homey.  The chips and salsa were pretty decent.
