Also bagel store from my youth (Alex!). I remember coming here at 6 AM on Saturday mornings getting a lox bagel, eating half of it on my way to x-country meet and the other half after the race (as my reward). Coming back now, the bagels are a slight more expensive to keep up with inflation, the store is renovated and expanded, but the owners I think may still be the same? (at least the lady behind the counter looks familiar). I wish they had more toppings (scallion tofu for example), but I have no complaints about the bagels themselves, always light and fluffy.
This deli is a bit pricey but they make the most delicious chopped salads. You can pick your own ingredients and they make it right in front of you!
All the food is super fresh, including the bagels.
I like the healthy tuna salad (no mayo, extra veggies).
They usually have a nice selection of soups, including at least one vegetarian.
I always stop for lunch when I'm in the area.
Bagles in New Jersey require the following: clean store, many bagels cooked right there, lots of spreads, something interesting, ability to sit down, and a clean working bathroom.
Cresskill Hot Bagels has all of these.
So far the best bagels I've found in the area; the everything could use a more generous hand with the toppings but the bagel itself had that perfect balance of chewy and crispy.
Sundried tomato cream cheese was perfect and I want to come back just to try the bacon/cheddar cream cheese!
The thing I love the most about this place is when I order a taylor ham, egg and cheese on a hard roll..they answer with the correct response "salt, pepper, ketchup?". I lived in Cresskill for 10 years and its the best breakfast sandwich ever that only a New Jerseyian a make right! Love them here best..a great hard roll. I am visiting the area now and so far have eaten two of these delightfully tasty sandwiches, expecting a third tomorrow. They have nothing even near to the flavor in Geneva so I have to get them in while I can!
