Croissanteria

“Their pastries are very close to the ones we loved dearly in Paris.”

A friend and I were in the neighborhood looking for a place to hang and catch up for awhile. We stumbled into Croissanteria during a small snow squall and found a table. The space is cozy, maybe 8 or so 2 tops for seating. Finding an empty table was our green light, so we stepped inside.
Comfortable atmosphere, very nice and accommodating staff behind the counter. I changed my order three times (with apologies) and they rolled with it. Ended up with a special, coffee and 3 mini pastries for $6! My friend ordered coffee and a regular sized croissant. Noticed some very delicious looking sandwiches coming out of the oven. Food was solid.
Back at the table, we were able to talk for quite awhile. The chairs were really comfortable, the wifi was strong and they have a clean bathroom in the back.
Overall, would definitely recommend to someone in the neighborhood looking to take a break or get some work done.
Hmmm…on a quiet Saturday morning, nothing beats a deliciously flaky croissant and coffee.
The atmosphere is charming, and a mix of people:students, couples, doggies waiting outside.
They offer a deal of 3 mini croissants for $4. Each mini regular and mini chocolate are only $1.25 each, so you should get the other more expensive minis if you want to make the most of this deal.
I'd explain what I tried this morning, but frankly I can only guess. The reason for the 3 stars is purely based on the atrocious attitude of the one barista/cashier.
We arrived with 2 customers ahead, and she barked "next guest!" a little too loudly each time. Requests were simple – an espresso, what type of cheese comes in this salad- but she was answering with a scowl.
When it was my turn, I demurely asked for the 3 minis, so as not to further upset her. She rolled her eyes twice and then claimed she couldn't hear me. My bad. I spoke up, pointing to the 3 types of croissants/pastries left. She quickly picked them up with tongs, threw them in the bag, and gave us our change.
The items themselves were great, hence they still earn 3. All were room temperature, but flaky and high quality. The "cake" was a bit too sweet for me.
I might never know what I ate today, because our barista never bothered to explain. I even said as I was pointing to one of them "and that one left in the tin,not sure what it's called….."and she ignored me.
There were not many people, but she was by herself (out front). Perhaps today wasn't her day, or they have better waitstaff on weekdays. I might stop in again to ask what they offer, but I have low expectations.
This is a super cute cafe in Alphabet City! We walked by and decided to stop in since it was one of the larger coffee spots in the area and there was plenty of seating available. I also noticed that there's a bathroom accessible to the customers, which is a nice plus since these places don't always have a bathroom available!
I had the Americano to stay, which was nice and strong, and served in a brightly colored mug. I can't say much about the food since we didn't order any, but I will do so in the future as they seem to have an extensive list of sandwiches and other baked goods.
The atmosphere is really enjoyable, and – as most of the patrons seemed to be there to study – wasn't too loud. Another huge plus: I believe they offer free wifi, since the girl one table over was madly typing away into the Messages app on her macbook.
PS. They are one of Cups apps many partners, which means that you can use the Cups coffee plan here! If it's you're buying your first plan, use code dmmrk to get $10 off!
This place is decorated nicely and so homey! The seats are cushioned, the menu board is adorable, and the music is very fitting.
I got the masala chai, croissant, and a cookie. The chai was underwhelming for something they make themselves, very light taste and overwhelmed by the milk. Treats were delicious though and would recommend! Sadly they ran out of the almond croissant, which I would come back to try!
The barista talks with a lot of sass in his voice, so don't be thrown off, but he's friendly.
*wifi – yes
*outlets – limited, but yes
Great, fresh food and baked good. My favorite thing to drink is fresh squeezed OJ and they have a machine. It is the best and not over priced. Coffee is great too.
I can usually find a seat during the week to work or read. They play great music. Did I mention the food is great? 🙂
Staff is friendly.
Loved their croissants filled with prosciutto and other ingredients and their mini croissants.
Place is cozy and service ok
3 mini pastries and a coffee for $6 is a great deal, especially when the pastries are super yummy and the coffee is excellent. Sadly the most delish of all pastries they bake, the mini almond croissant, is NOT one of the mini pastries you can choose in the $6 deal.. It's so good it's worth paying extra for it though..
I've only had the chocolate croissant and coffee from Croissanteria. Both were very good. I hope to try out the sandwiches sometime and update my review with my thoughts on them.
