Been in the Gowanus area lately and stumbled upon Crop to Cup Coffee purely by chance (and luck).
Lovely cafe with bar seating, tables, and an outdoor area with benches and tables. Good coffee and delicious cookies from The Good Batch. Nice place to get some work done (free WiFi), and pretty quiet.
$5 minimum if you wanna use card.
Perfect cup of coffee – for cheap! $2 for a small poured over coffee.
Good chocolate croissant, super nice staff and a very cozy and cute atmosphere. Large bags of coffee beans line one wall.
Def my new go-to coffee shop.
I have been living a block away for one year now and always thouth this was a warehouse… ! Now I know it will be my Latte and Pastry place.
Quality of coffee is very good, that's their main business in fact.
Pastries are from Runner and Stone, very good. Maybe also from some bakery else as I never saw the turnover at Runner.. Delicious, actually.
Seats are not comfortable as you are not supposed to spend all your day there Starbucks style.
They have a cute backyard too.
Atmosphere is very friendly and cosy, music is cool too.
Today was my first visit there, and it's sunday. Only one guy at the coffee/pastries/counter and this makes things a bit slow but…yeah, it's sunday. No rush! I will see on a regular day if he has some help or if it's always like that and organize my schedule accordingly!
So I came here hoping to find another source of fresh-roasted whole beans in my hood and was sorely disappointed. The selection was extremely limited, kind of pricey and mostly packaged in ecologically unfriendly aluminum cans. Plus the canned coffee was from Brooklyn Roasting Company, so if I wanted their coffee, I'd just go there and not pay a mark-up. But the main reason for the one star was the guy behind the counter, who was rude, unhelpful and kind of condescending. Since there were only two hipsters having coffee and me in the store, I can't chalk it up to being overworked. I'll just continue to give my business to Java Joe.
Fantastic coffee shop with very nice staff. I love that the vibe was cool without trying to be. And there were no hipsters here either! So refreshing to find a safe coffee shop in this hood.
Crop to Cup is a good place to get coffee so don't be discouraged by the note of disappointment in my review. The model is similar to my favorite coffee shop, Joe Bean, in that they have a detailed selection of single origin coffees and a variety of preparation methods. I stuck with a simple pour over since it was just me. This was a good cup of coffee, but not mind blowing.
They also have a small selection of pastries, the ham and cheese croissant is very good, nice and flaky.
Pretty cool. Totally hipster.
The attention to detail for 1 cup of coffee is pretty intense. I thought $2 was a good price for a small coffee at a place like this but when it was handed to me and I realized it was about the size of a dixie cup, my thoughts changed.
In my opinion, the pour-over method just doesn't make a good cup of coffee. Ya know why? I'll tell you why. Because for all of the time that water is dripping through the filter into your one cup, the water temperature is getting cooler and cooler. By the time you get your cup, its practically lukewarm. I don't dig that.
Overall, cool business run by a cool-seeming guy.
Great cold brew and a nice open atmosphere, big communal tables inside with bar stools. There's an outdoor area in the back that catches a good breeze, has a few benches and two wooden picnic tables. They offer milk, soy and almond milk. There's a bathroom in the basement, but it's a one person.
