This has to be one of the best Mexican restaurants I've been to in a long time.
As recommended by previous yelpers, my friend and I had margaritas. AMAZING. So delicious, not bitter like I've noticed in other restaurants.
My friend ordered chicken fajitas which came with rice and beans, guacamole and sour cream. Hot, fresh, delicious and tender.
I ordered the chicken burrito with avocado- every ingredient was so fresh and not doused in cheese. It came with a spicy mole sauce and some guacamole which complimented the burrito nicely!
My only recommendation is to provide more nachos to nibble on while we wait- the bowl was so small! What was it nachos for ants?? (still didn't discourage the 5 star rating it was so good!)
Other than that, the service was great, the price was extremely reasonable and the food spoke for itself.
Give this place a try and see if the amazon local deal is still available!
Boyfriend and I Sunday brunched here with a Groupon he bought. It was empty except for two Mexican families – signaling to me that it's an authentic location with Mexican clientele. We split an appetizer of guacamole, I got the Huevos a La Mexicana, he got his signature dish, the Huevos Rancheros, and we finished with tres leches. Everything was the bombdotcom. I normally don't even like tres leches, but I liked it here. Given the price point, I dub Cuatomate a 5-star place. And yes, I'd recommend it even without the Groupon!
Wow, I have never been so disappointed!
We were looking forward to having some good Mexican food and margaritas. With Las Margaritas (vom) just a few doors down, this place HAD to be good! Meeeh.
I was confused immediately upon entry. It looked like one of those amazing Mexican places I frequented deeper in Queens (low key, some decorations, seemingly authentic) but then there was this unnecessary strobe like flashing by the front door. Then there was that loud bachata.
Maybe the margaritas and food will be different?
We decided to go 'traditional' – give me the gold standard with salt. It was meh and influenced our food order too. We had to go with the simple classic, chicken quesadilla. (I only order this because I am nervous about ordering and needed to benchmark a place).
"Con todo?"
"Si, por favor, gracias"
When the quesadilla showed up, it looked like it was made by a Qdoba chef; like the quesadilla I had in college because.. I didn't know better. A dry tortilla with some queso and cheese in it. A small ramekin of guac on the side to lubricate it. Nothing else. The waitress then disappeared for what seemed like 15 minutes. The kitchen staff were hanging out by the bar and ignored our attempts to remedy the food. It was pointless.
Never again.
Food was excellent! Try their Chimichanga they are killer! Went with 2 of my sons and a friend and we all felt great about the food and atmosphere!
I came here for the first time with my boyfriend for dinner. Let's Begin! So the margaritas are absolutely heavenly, the fruit flavoring with the alcohol was a lovely potent mixture. I tried the passion fruit and the pomegranate margarita, both were good but I preferred the passion fruit. We shared a chicken quesadilla as an appetizer, which was served with guacamole and two different types of hot sauce. It was quite delicious. For our main course we both had enchiladas, his with mole sauce and mine with green sauce. They were both pretty okay; there was not much seasoning or flavor to it. The waitress was an absolute sweetheart however and was very attentive and she even recommended churros for desert. The churros were presented very elegantly with strawberries and some whipped ice cream for dipping; it was absolutely divine. Overall, I would definitely come back here for drinks and those churros.
