  1. The smells from this truck should be classified as illegal, illegally awesome that is. So illegal that four police officers stopped by for lunch while I was there.
The line was continuous, up to 10 deep but no one seemed to be complaining.  For me, I just needed a hot dog. The meat of all meats parts. Who knows what's in a dog and really who cares, we know it's good.

This doggie today was covered with just the lovely caramelized onions and  peppers. The doggie and the diet coke, $5.00 a no brainer meal on the go.

There are usually 2 trucks on Woodhaven Blvd parked within a block of each other. I won't mention the other truck name in this review, but it was missing from the block today. The other competitor missing is probably why the lines were so long.

D'Angelos has sausage (hot and sweet) heros, hot dogs and cheesesteaks.
The guys in the truck are friendly and happy to fix your food with the condiments of your choice. I once ordered my hot dog with ketchup and I said…"don't tell anyone I like it this way", their reply was…"it's ok, we still love you". Happy hot dog lovers, happy life!

  2. If you find your way driving down Woodhaven to Home Depot or Trader Joe's, you should stop in for some food. It is a food truck on the side of the road, you have to eat at home or eat in your car but it's completely worth it. Street parking is very convenient, but mind you the truck is right in front of the cemetery, so pay no mind lol

    The food:

Spicy sausage and peppers- I did think the $9 was on the high side but it is probably one of the best sausage and peppers I ever had. The sausage had a little heat, a perfect snap, perfectly cooked onions and peppers all on top of a nice crusty Italian roll. The sausage was bursting with fennel and had a nice pork texture that wasn't too fine, I also really liked the outside char. The sandwich is gigantic so sharing might be recommended.

  3. Great sausage heros. But trust me, you want the hot sausage not the sweet, even if you don't like hot and spicy food. It's not hot at all just really flavorful and with the onions and peppers on it just makes it a perfect sausage hero. Not sure where they get the rolls from but the bread is soft and delicious.

  4. Not the best lunch value for just under $10.00 considering the food is sold off of a truck, which I thought generally suggested a lower price.

The sausage and peppers hero is massive in size served on  Italian hero bread that could envelop my forearm. There is enough food to be broken up into two meals or even better, to be shared with a friend.
The peppers and onions were very nicely cooked, but I found the sausage to be overcooked and not very flavorful. The skin peeled off on my first bite, leaving me looking into the innards which confirmed my overcooked opinion.

I feel D Angelo's Sausage Truck is worth the stop if your driving down Woodhaven Blvd during their working hours.

  5. D'Angelo's sausage and peppers are dangerously delicious! It's basically your best sausage and peppers hero from any ordinary street fair, but they just do it really well here. This sausage truck has been parked in this same exact spot on Woodhaven Blvd in front of St. John's cemetery for years and yesterday was my very time trying them out. I usually go for the hot dogs at Dominick's hot dog truck on the same block. I didn't think there was anything special about a sausage and peppers truck but now I know. It is frigging good!

They make a variety of heroes, philly cheesesteak and others but the main event here is obviously the sausage with either sweet or hot peppers. All of their heroes are the same price $9. It's a bit expensive in my opinion but it's hard to complain about the quality and taste. Every bite of the sandwich was just explosive with flavor. It's a big hero and the hoagie they use is a good one. It doesn't taste cheap, old, or stale. They load the hoagie up with their famous sausages. This is easily the best sausage and peppers hero I've ever had. We took one bite in the car and we had to rush home to compliment it with a ice cold beer. It's not a complete meal without the beer. You gotta eat this with beer, it's the best and most refreshing thing on a hot day.

Verdict – Decisions… Now every time I drive down Woodhaven Blvd, I need to decide between Dominick's or D'Angelo'. Both are very good, I highly recommend trying both. D'angelo's also serves hot dogs however, Dominick's hot dog have a better snap to each bite. Both trucks are really good at their specialty. The only downside is the price for both food trucks.
