  1. I felt super impressed by this sandwich shop in the Financial District. This was the perfect place to go for something filling to eat. I ordered the Delightful hero sandwich, which comes with mozzarella cheese, honey glazed turkey and honey mustard.

Like another reviewer mentioned, this place definitely doesn't skimp on the meat: the amount of turkey in my sandwich was super generous, and it came out in less than 10 minutes after I placed my order.

The staff workers seemed very energetic and kind, like they cared about treating each customer with courtesy and listening to their orders, especially since you can create your own sandwich here. That type of customer service is underrated, but it's something that folks at d Elici seem to take seriously, which is amazing.

This spot has limited seating (with two low tables and three high chairs) and there's no bathroom, but that shouldn't be a problem if you're coming at an off-peak time and don't plan to stay in to eat for too long. I was able to grab a seat and low-table, charged my phone, and read my book along with eating my sandwich.

Though I'm not in the Financial District very often, if I am and want something hearty and savory to eat, I'll keep this place in mind.

  2. Went here to grab a bite to eat for lunch since i had a training in the WTC area. This cafe is a little oasis in such a busy, construction-heavy area.

There were some patrons when I arrived, but I was able to order right away. I went with the chipotle chicken in a wheat wrap which came with avocado, lettuce, and muenster cheese. Shockingly, it came out in less that 5 minutes which was pretty amazing.

The sandwich itself was packed full of chicken and had a generous portion of avocado. The sauce on top really added to the overall flavor and made it an enjoyable–and filling lunch. Definitely worth checking out for lunch and great quality/value for the money.

  3. A lil gem- small place but salad definitely NOT small! Goat cheese salad packed so full of my favorite things/ beets, walnuts, goat cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers and yes some lettuce too. The grilled chicken gyro was loaded full of chicken- they do not skimp here. Apparently they do a large take out service which is not surprising in this part of NYC.
Hot and cold sandwiches, interesting breakfast menu as well.

  4. I love this hidden little gem. When we first moved down here from midtown I went here and fell in love. Ever since then I have been a fan. When I'm sick I come here for their tasty soup. They keep split pea soup and chicken noodle on for me whenever I come. Me and a coworker were just conversing about their breakfast burritos. This place gets it, that's all. Its like making a burger, the placement of ingredients goes great together In a tasty tortilla. I love how they come out and all the ones they have on the menu are just perfect for my morning grind and taste buds. If you happen to be in the pinch for a great breakfast or just need something quick and easy around this area. Stop on in.

  5. This is my go-to breakfast spot during the week. The prices are very reasonable, food quality is great, and the service is friendly and quick. The breakfast wraps are well made – the right proportion of ingredients, nothing spills out and makes a mess. If this is anywhere near your home, office, or hotel it is worth stopping in. It's a small place but quite a find.

  6. Solid spot for lunch! Quick, affordable, and good quality food. They have a wide variety of salads and sandwiches.

I had the Chicken Cobb Salad (you get to choose the salad dressing that you want). I ordered the ceasar dressing on the side. The salad was fresh and the ingredients were plentiful. The only downside was that they put dressing on the salad and then gave me some more on the side. I paid less than $10, which is the regular price for good salads around FiDi.

The entire process did not last more than 10 minutes, which was awesome considering the noon rush hour for lunch. If you are around the area and looking for a quick and affordable place to buy a salad or a sandwich then you should definitely give this place a try. Also, close to subway stations, which makes its location convenient.

  7. Wow! What a great lunch find. Sandwiches and salads including vegetarian options, oh my! Especially great to grab something and sit outside on a gorgeous summer day, since the inside is small. Prices are very reasonable and everything is made to order (quickly)! Staff is friendly too. Can't wait to come back now that I've discovered this spot.

  8. I was skeptical about d Elici's 4.5-star rating, but I'd have to agree with it now.

That being said, I've only had their Reuben on Grilled Rye Bread (pastrami, corned beef, swiss cheese, red cabbage, russian dressing), but it was Exceptional!  They grill the bread with a little butter, give you a ton of meat, the cheese was melted and red cabbage had a nice crunch to it.  Overall one of the Best Reubens I've had!

I can't vouch for the salads or breakfast sandwiches, but I know people rave about them.  About half the people coming in were ordering salads, which also looked really good (especially the Goat cheese one) and you could tell they use higher quality ingredients.  Will definitely try one next time.

And even though I've only had the Reuben, I'd be willing to bet that d Elici has the best sandwiches in FiDi.  Specifically the Hot Sandwiches which seemed to be what most people ordered – the Reuben, the Texas Steak, Pesto Chicken and the Chicken Fajita were the most popular I was told.

The place is tiny, only like 3 stools at a counter and two tables that seat two people each, so most everyone does takeout.  If you have the ability to eat the sandwich there, I'd recommend  it as you get eat it when it's hot & fresh and the bread crispy, and not soggy like when hot sandwiches travel.

And the price is a great value for what you get – my sandwich was $8.08 (tax included), they didn't skimp on the meat at all, and use higher quality ingredients.  Kept me full all day long.

Overall, I highly recommend this place, especially the Reuben!  Can't go wrong here.
