“I am so excited to find this gem in financial district and will definitely be frequently back!”

“People are going to absolutely FLOCK to these places as they provide a brief but vital respite from the social wasteland that is FiDi.”

“I tried a lot of the other dishes, but usually stick with the following:

Appetizers: Insalata Verde Del Mercato
Entrees: Trofie with Lamb Ragu – just yummy.”

  1. Food wise, this place is pretty good. We ordered the short rib special and the paccheri pasta which were both very tasty dishes. The short rib was incredibly tender with strips of tender tendon running through the 1 inch thick piece of meat. It was served on a bed of farro along with roasted beets. The pasta was cooked al dente and was coated in an olive oil sauce with roasted Brussels sprouts and bacon.

So why 3 stars? First, I definitely felt that the pasta dish, while tasty, was missing a sweet flavor note. It was not interesting at all. Just…well done. Mostly, the 3 stars are for the fact that the service was terribly lacking. They took a while to give us the sparkling water we had ordered and the bread came very late. Additionally, one of the waiters dropped a knife on my shirt leaving a stain that I couldn't get off…

Nothing was done about that by the way 🙁

  2. First time here for dinner – came on a Mon night and while it was reasonably full, it didn't feel that way because the space was really large. Very cafeteria like including the very large (spatially) menu. Didn't help the staff at all as there didn't seem to be very many people taking orders (but a lot of people serving).

We had a mix of their specials & it was just the right amount of distinctive but not too far off the comfort food track. Ordered the white asparagus, grilled octopus, the crab egg noodle, and the grilled fish of the day. I think next time, stick with the Italian pasta because the egg noodle was very wet. Still tasted good, but wasn't the al dente i was expecting

  3. Omg, when I think of perfect tomato sauce I will always think of this place. I'm officially sad that I will only be able to dine here once this trip.

We came in on a Tuesday afternoon after visiting the 9/11 museum around 4:00 when they just opened. Of course I found this gem on Yelp. They have some HH specials 4-7, a small number of wine and beer specials. They provided some small complementary apps that were tasty.

We ordered the black linguini with prawns and the meat and cheese platter for 2, this was just a quick stop for cocktails and and a "snack". The meat platter was good. But here's my gripe, which will explain the 4 star rating instead of 5. We were literally the only patrons, yet it took a long time for our food to come out, like 30-40 mins. There were at least 5 wait staff employees and 3 ppl in the kitchen, I think this needs improving.

They did apologize, some problem with the meat slicer, I guess. But the rest of the meal was amazing!

If you come here, order the linguini with shrimp, it reminds me of Italy! Yummy!

  4. This is one of my go-to places in downtown. It is sexy, swanky, and their happy hour is very reasonable. The interior is beautiful with high top, bar, and low top dining options. The wait staff was very friendly the few times I've been there and can recommend wines to pair with your meal. DAndre is the best!

The kitchen is open concept and it is fun to watch your food be prepared. They also have a meat counter, which means you know your meat and cheese platter is fresh. The Scaloppine di Pollo (lemon chicken) was moist and very savory. I would order it again.

The best nights to go to avoid the crowds are Tuesday and Wednesday.

  5. We are staying near the World Trade Center and this restaurant is close by.  Had our hotel not suggested it, we wouldn't have tried it. WOW!  It was great!  Really good Italian food, salads, salumeria, cheeses, etc…really fresh and delish!
Service was fast and friendly.  Try this restaurant!!!!

  6. I had an okay experience here. We started with the octopus tentacle salad, which was decent. The spaghetti alle vongole (clams) was a little undercooked – probably trying to be al dente, but not quite there. We also had cocktails – my boyfriend's was a complicated one that involved egg whites, and I had a fruity drink. Overall, nothing stood out to me. I'd say I prefer the Italian takeout place near my apartment.

We enjoyed a reserved table for 12 in this small uncrowded Italian restaurant for Willie's birthday. We drank a couple bottles of reasonably priced Chianti Classico. The service was bit slow but probably because of the size of our party. I ordered the Lamb Ragu ($21) with Garganelli instead of trofie. which had very little tomato in comparison to the ground lamb. It was quite flavorful and filling. The pasta was al dente and quite enjoyable. The place is a good value for Italian food.

  8. Great Italian – modern, delicious, family ambiance. Veal was tender and tasty. Carbonara to die for. Octopus was simple and delicious. Yes!
