Previous reviewers have said we should cut them a break because they are just a diner. There are a couple of things that I expect from a good diner…quick service and fresh food. Daily Treat was lacking in both. I ordered a turkey bacon wrap. My girlfriend ordered a salad with fresh fruit and grilled chicken. I would expect that they could push those items out of the kitchen in 10 minutes (or at least a reasonable 20) it took 45 minutes. The turkey and cheese on my wrap was ice cold even though it was supposed to be melted Brie. The fruit on the salad (strawberry and orange) were clearly old and dried out, not fresh or juicy as one would expect. They seem to be known for their breakfasts, but I will not be back for lunch or dinner.
Came here on Sunday a little after noon and the outdoor seating was packed! We ended up eating inside and that was fine. I ordered a Western Omelette and it was pretty tasty. One person in our group ordered pancakes with strawberries on top and a side of bacon but when her food came, there were no strawberries and no bacon. It was fine though as the waiter just brought it over afterwards. Another person in our group had asked him if the grilled chicken panini comes with mozzarella and tomato and he said yes but when her food came, it clearly did not so that was kind of disappointing. Overall, I think the prices are good for what you get but the service could be a bit better.
A Greek family run diner with traditional american breakfast and lunch comfort food.
The open face roast beef was layered on thick cut toast and smothered in brown gravy. Came with a healthy side of potatoes and veggies of your choice. Also choice of salad or soup of the day. Today it was potato leek or chicken pasta.
Some friends ordered paninis and breakfast sandwiches (mmmm taylor ham) that were equally yummy fresh and hit the spot.
This is the kind of place that warms you up on a cold winter day with food that sticks to your bones.
Give it a try if you like Jersey diners in a small town settings. Recommend for brunch.
Ridgewood establishment. Lots of choices, diner style food. Good salads. Pricey. Excellent sweet potato fries!! Fast service and a good place to grab food before popping over to the movie theater across the street.
Parking in the back, make sure you feed the meters in other parking around the restaurant , the meter people are like vultures!
A store front Greek diner on Ridgewood Avenue sounds out of place but it works. Not the usual 24/7 establishment; no art deco facade, but its look fits the eclectic food experience of downtown Ridgewood. I especially like their alfresco dining option, which makes people watching very pleasant in warm weather, and it is kid friendly (a must for us). The food is just OK. The omelets and pancakes are good honest fare prepared in a workman-like manner, as are the salads. Their Greek offerings (souvlaki/moussaka/spanakopita) are not particularly good. The moussaka was too greasy because they did not prepare the eggplant properly. It absorbed way too much oil when fried which released in the baking process and rendered into the pan along with the fat from the meat and other ingredients — creating an off putting oil slick on the plate. The souvlaki/gyro meat was not scratch made and was almost inedible (read: beef jerky-like and greasy), despite the fresh pita and a good tzatziki served along with it. The soups taste institutional and the open faced roast beef was swimming in gravy so thick it was hard to distinguish where meat ended and gravy began. The roast turkey, OTOH, was excellent as was their bacon, fries and hash browns, but the corned beef hash was disappointing. The worst part about eating inside (especially when its busy) are the cramped quarters. The best diners usually provide tables with lots of elbow room and comfy seating. The floor plan here is like economy seating on a budget airliner – uncomfortable for average sized humans. Despite the food flaws and the tight quarters, the ambience is pleasant and the staff very accommodating. I agree with other reviewers that this is a better alternative to the overpriced diner competition on the strip and if you choose wisely, you can eat well here.
After not coming here for like 2 years, I was so happy that my family wanted to go to Daily Treat for New Years Day. They raised their prices and my Lemon Chicken Panini did not have the olive tapenade either, which is what makes the sandwich so special. I was seriously disappointed. The guy who worked there looked at me like I was crazy when I told him. The rest of my family was not that impressed by their meals either.
I came here with Boo Boo for breakfast. We initially wanted to dine in at Sook but they were jammed packed. And there was also a wait at Raymond's and country pancake house across the street. We never dined here before so we gave it a try and I'm glad we did. There was a short wait for a table but we were able to sit at the counter. We got our OJ and coffee before we put in our omelette and french toast order.
Boo Boo got the onion, mushroom, and mozz cheese omelette and a side of sausage, which came with your choice of toast and home fries. And I got the walnut and banana french toast. Boo Boo expected the food to look nicer but she enjoyed how it tasted.
It's nice that this place kept up with the times and have the fancy white touchy order and billing thing.
I'd come here over the other two over priced places nearby.
Ridgewood establishment that has been here for ages and ages. It's across the street from the pancake house and both places serve similar food. Both places are quite kid friendly and are just little nice neighborhood diners.
The differences being:
Better service here.
Better quality food here.
(Obviously) smaller portions here.
More seating room
Room outside
Less loud.
The people who like to eat here won't care about this review and you guys probably shouldn't care about this either. It's a general NJ diner. The burgers/eggs/everything else are fine, as fine as anyone in this state or NYC should feel. If you compare it to Sook or Raymond's or any of the "fancy" breakfast/lunch places, sure it's not amazing. But for what it is, I don't mind it at all.
