Dake Sushi

“I've read mixed reviews for the sushi, which I haven't really eaten here, but really the star of Dake Sushi is their Udon.”

“Great lunch spot – for only $8, you can choose from a variety of sushi and other types of entrees.”

“However, I got a Broadway Roll (Tempura Sweet Potato with Tuna, Salmon, and Avocado draped generously on top) and a California Roll.”

  1. As I continue to explore the veritable culinary dead zone that is the Penn Station area, this presents a viable sushi option for lunch takeout.

Rolls were small-ish and on the pricey side ($10/2 rolls) for a hole-in-the-wall lunch special. But the spicy salmon and tuna avocado were decent. I can't speak to other menu items, but the rolls I had were decently rendered by this fringe-of-K-town sushi pretender.

  2. Small, quick and on 7th Avenue, Daki Sushi is a good place to go when you want sushi fast and unpretentious.  No long wait on waiters, long menus, back and forth with drinks/water/etc; you order, it comes, you eat, you're done!

While it's not the best sushi on earth, I think it's pretty good.  Couple the food with the ambiance (and convenience) and it's true to its self.  I'm a fan.

  3. For some reason I was craving sushi on the bus ride from Boston to New York.  The bus let us out right there by FIT and Dake Sushi was the first sushi joint I laid eyes on.  So I walked on in and got me some sushi.

Pretty good.  The prices were very fair.  My only complaint is that they put too much rice in the maki.

However, I got a Broadway Roll (Tempura Sweet Potato with Tuna, Salmon, and Avocado draped generously on top) and a California Roll. So the California Roll was the only one that lacked substance. The Broadway Roll was $10.99 and the California Roll was $3.95, so for $3.95 I guess I really can't complain.

If the Megabus drops me off there next time I'll be sure to go to Dake Sushi for my sushi cravings.

  4. Walked around to try yet another small sushi joint to eat for lunch with a friend. The place is relatively quick based on the little staff they have and the little amount of space they use. I thought the food was a tad bit pricey and the food to be okay. I ordered the spicy crab roll, spicy tuna roll, and spicy salmon roll, all with a bit of crunch.

Miso Soup tasted like most miso soup that I drink at japanese restaurants. I found the crab texture to be a bit awkward and was expecting a soft california roll style crab meat. the flavor was okay. I definitely liked the salmon and tuna better. The tuna was okay and the salmon was nice. Overall, this place was okay! Nothing particularly special that I found from eating here yet. Will update my review if there is!

  5. A bit cramped and hot but the lunch special of 2 rolls and a salad for $8 in Midtown West is pretty damned good.

The sushi in the area kind of sucks so Dake sticks out to be one of the better ones.

The service wasn't the greatest but it got the job done.

    I'd be back.
