  1. So, the beau and I decided to take advantage of this one particular dreary, raining Saturday and go, for the first time, to the new Bay Plaza Mall. We had a feeling the highway and mall wouldn't be crowded and we were correct. 95 North always has traffic jams going towards the mall, but not on this day…'Open Road!', my favorite!!

After perusing the mall, I didn't buy nada, we made another smart choice of checking out Dallas BBQs for lunch. He's never been, but I have taken food to go from here for us a few times. We walk in the joint and it's practically empty…win for us!  If you know BBQ's, they are always crowded.  We get seated by the non-smiling hostess and our waitress quickly arrived shortly after and took our drink order. I ordered a regular sized margarita with blue curaçao with an extra shot, it was pretty good. I haven't had one of those blue drinks in years, it seemed fitting considering the spot. As for the beau, he had a bottled beer. For apps, we tried the "crab-cakes'"and crispy shrimp. The "crab cakes" were whack! They were little balls of I don't know what, I disliked both items, the beau said they were ok, but would never order them again.

For entrée, he ordered a burger, medium,  with chili and the burger came out well done. I wasn't surprised, he was a bit disappointed, but said the best part was the chili.  I was feening for some meat and I've always wanted to try the beef ribs.  When those ribs came out they were monstrous! I looked like a glutton, but I didn't care, cause they were surprisingly good. The ribs didn't have any smoky flavor, which worked, smoked meat can be overwhelming to me at times. These were tender, juicy and a bit sweet from their already applied sauce and to top things off for $13.99 you get a meal that can feed three, which is so much more than your money's worth.

Aside from my meal, another plus that day was the service. We were happy with our server Emily, I think that was her name. She's a young, jolly chick, who had a really pleasant, smily demeanor and was above par with her customer service. She checked in with us a few times, apologized when she mucked up on my drink order and rectified the situation with a smile. She was a breath of fresh air and made the always cray cray BBQs a good experience.

Your expectations can't be too high when going to BBQs, but the odds were in our favor that day.

    Food 3.5
    Service: 4
    Cost: 5

  2. I've been to many of this restaurants locations in Manhattan, this was my first visit to this brand new location in the Bronx this is a huge facility.  I let my server know that I was in a tight time schedule due to business meetings.  Lateshia, was my server and did a phenomenal job,  service was blazing fast I ordered a half chicken with two sides and drink. My chicken was smaller than the Manhattan Locations but still very tasty, I ordered a baked potato which was adequate and piping hot Dallas BBQ threw in a complimentary cupcake & provided a to go container for that cupcake since I was in a hurry. Restaurant furnishings are new and comfortable plenty of parking in a spacious lot.  Bathrooms are very large very clean all new

  3. The food is ok, the service can use some improving. The point of coming here is to score a couple if drinks before heading to the movies…the Texas sided drinks are worth it if you get the right mix

  4. Listen, if you're going to BBQs looking for a memorable meal, you're going to be sorely disappointed. This goes for all BBQs locations. This isn't a gourmet restaurant and the food is pretty basic. But if you want to get the most out of your BBQs experience, order yourself any of their Texas-sized drinks (only if you aren't driving!), some wings, and kick back and relax. This is a place to go to if you want a cheap meal and strong drinks.

I come to this particular location pretty regularly and only once or twice did I receive unpleasant service. The service is usually great, the food almost always comes much sooner than you'd expect it to, and the food is consistent. Any of their wings are great, their burgers are much better than the other burger spot in the mall (*cough*), and the drinks are always tasty and strong.

It can get pretty crowded on Friday and Saturday nights so expect a wait. But the place is pretty big and depending on the size of your party the wait shouldn't be too long. As far as dining in Bay Plaza goes, BBQs is my pick, by far.

  5. Pina Colada was 5 stars.
Henny Chicken was about 3 stars. But then I got food poisoning so…it bummed it down to a 1 star
I loved that they were fried and then sauced.
The sauce did taste like it was bottled… and not homemade. That was a huge downer but it was good jarred sauce so… it was fine.

I prob wouldn't go back on my own but if someone asked me to go, I wouldn't put up a fight as I would just sip on the Pina Colada or other drinks.

  6. $25 dollar minimum was the first thing that threw me off. Co-op city does not have a lot of good food, and even less that deliver. If one person wants to order that isnt a glutton like myself, 25 dollars might be a bit of a high number to hit.

Burger was pretty good, but again, not much else to compare it to around here. I ordered the onion loaf, not really knowing what it was. It appears they took fried onions and compressed them into a load. Should've guessed that one. Not horrible, but the amount of grease in them could have been strained and put in my fryer to make more fried onions.

The Caesar salad came with everything in a container. Now, its not that I cant cook, its just that ordering food means i'm too lazy to do anything that is required to make a meal. Putting all that shit into my salad is included.

I'll probably order from them again because the options are so limited, but I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody driving.

  7. Best time to go is when they first open. Decent service. Better sticky wings than the way they serve them horribly at night. The drinks are always a win! Which basically explains the bulk of the 4 stars. Everything else is just mediocre. I doubt I'd ever give 5 stars.

  8. This is the girls night spot. I've been here twice now and each time I've had a good experience. The wait staff is pretty friendly and patience since my friends and I always take forever to order food because we're too busy talking and catching up. The drinks are strong and the food is good. They always give you free little cupcakes and they don't kick you out after you finish eating and pay, so it's nice to come if you are going to take your time with your company.
