Thank you shay Mitchell for posting on snapchat about dana's bakery! These macaroons are delicious!
I ventured to the west village while I was in town to get some for my best friend (her name is Dana!). Although it doesn't have its own store front it's in an awesome little market in the high line.
I had easy access right up to the counter and the girl working was friendly and kind. She explained to me how some were cold and needed to heat up to room temperature to eat. She was also helpful in answering my questions on if they could be taken through security in my carry on.
They traveled home well and were tasty as ever. The fruity cereal and champagne campaign were my favorites!
May have to looking at ordering some online – very great macaroons!
Very impressed with the home deliveries they do. Not only is the packaging super cute, the macaroons are fresh as ever, as if you just got it from the bakery. Danas would be a once in a blue moon type thing until i signed up for the monthly subscription. Super excited to receive such goodness every month. Super yummy!
I am amazed at the ability of this place to keep up with demand, maintain such a high quality product and manage monthly overnight deliveries all over the country. I got the monthly subrscirption as a gift and have been thrilled! I am obsessed with french macarons and there are only 2 place I know of in Maine, that have them and one imports them from Dana's.
Every month I get a 12 pack of macarons (that I devour within 2 days). There is 11 of the same every month and one flavor of the month. They have almost every flavor available for purchase and even towers of macarons. I love the red velvet and the fruity cereal flavors.
They are always crisp edges and soft cookie inside and just perfect!
I just picked up a box of Dana's Bakery macarons.
12/$33 so definitely NOT cheap but they have awesome, unique flavors like cookie dough and thin mint.
Not an everyday treat but a GREAT gift for any foodie.
Also it comes with a cute, purple re-useable canvas bag.
I've been following Dana's Bakery on Instagram for a while so I knew I had to try them while I was in New York. Their macarons are always interesting with fun flavors and pretty decorations and they pack so much flavor, I have no idea how they do it. We tried root beer float, fruity cereal, champagne and MacAteer and the flavors really tasted just like advertised. The macarons themselves were less impressive. The shells were a bit cakey and the fillings were too soft so they oozed out when I took a bite. The service was also brief and not very helpful. She told us the "MacAteer" flavor was just milk chocolate, when in fact it was a 3Musketeer chocolate bar. Still delicious, but just… why would you say that?
I'm glad I visited because they really do offer something unique, but I left feeling slightly disappointed. However, if you go in expecting something delicious rather than an amazing macaron, you'll be more than happy here.
Recently signed up for the monthly delivery of macarons for my fiancee's birthday. I have to say I was very impressed by the shipping and communication from this bakery. They have their act together and as a customer I really appreciate it. From the emails telling me it's been shipped to the great packaging. They even plan ahead so that no package will sit in a shipping facility on a holiday.
Overall impressed with product and very impressed with the inner workings of the company.
The roomie knows I love macarons. For Valentine's Day, he sent me both chocolate covered strawberries and macarons from Dana's Bakery. They were shipped by Shari's Berries. I got the delivery on Friday, February 12th.
Below is the price I found online at Shari's, but last week while looking up pricing for my review for them, they were on sale for $24.99. The macarons were packed neatly in a fitted box. They arrived in a protective insulated box with an ice pack.
12 Valentine's Macarons via Shari's Berries ($39.99)
*3 Chocolate Cherry Macarons with Chocolate Ganache Filling
*3 Raspberry Macarons with Red, Pink & White Heart Quins
*3 Chocolate Covered Chocolate Molten Macarons with Pink Swizzles
*3 Strawberry Champagne Macarons with Gold Dust
I love fruit flavored macarons, so I enjoyed the flavors of the raspberry and strawberry ones. I'm not a huge fan of chocolate, so those weren't really my style. For any chocolate lover, the molten chocolate ones would be great. Dark and sinful. I like my macarons light with a nice chew. These were a lot denser than I'm used it. I'm guessing since they're made to be durable for shipping. The insides were a little cakier and mushier than I like. Especially in the chocolate ones. The fruit flavored ones were better.
If you're looking to get macarons shipped, Dana's is a good option. And I believe they're made to last 5 days in the fridge.
Really unique macaron flavors here. By unique I don't mean exotic like that of Laduree or Bisous Ciao. I mean unique–birthday cake, fruity cereal, gotten candy, red velvet, etc. They're very beautifully made and the colors are really vibrant. I tried the fruity cereal one which was a huge win for me. I need to come back and try the others. The macarons were soft, but not as soft as Mille Fueille's or Laduree's.
