  1. Once I stepped foot inside Dave's Bagels, the first impression that struck me, was the non sterile feel that are part and parcel of new construction, and typically to a 1970's old school bagel joint, and this was a good thing in my mind.

The blank bin's of a few specialty cream cheeses cast a passing frown, but with olive, jalapeño and a few other colorful options, my frown was dashed–until. Until I took a bite and the lack of dough tightness , mixed with a non crumb in the lap, crusty top left me looking for another bagel spot between Dave's and my next stop. But I care not to dwell on the negativeness.

The server behind the counter was an absolute sweetheart, attentive enough to my needs that she asked if I wanted my spread applied to both sides of my toasted Everything. I've yet to hear that one before, the service was top tier..

  2. By request, a friend attain one onion bagel with plain cream cheese as a favor for me prior to our early start of a ameliorating kayak adventure day.

Disappointingly the bagel was over flowing with cream cheese than bread spewing out when biting into it.  I had to wipe the excess onto the wax paper wrapping.  The bagel was rather dry, overly chevy, stale, and very bland.  Nevertheless the excessive cream cheese tepid my joy as it is merely a big tub of goo nothing presented.  MEH!!

  3. Some of the softest and fluffiest bagels I've ever had (WHEN THEY ARE FRESH). The prices are great and they have a huge selection of home made spreads.

However you need to keep an eye on them when they prepare any specialty sandwiches. Sometimes they may not give you the toppings indicated on the menu.

We got two sandwiches that were supposed to have specialty cheeses on them only to find plain cheddar being put on.

Credit cards accepted and open 24 hours.

They do NOT  do delivery anymore though, its crossed out on all the menus.

  4. I been coming here for over 10 years and the bagels are always fresh. I like that they have everything wheat bagels which are my favorite. Also, they have plenty of different types of spreads.

  5. This is a very solid neighborhood bagel place. The everything bagel I ordered was delicious – crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside – and I know I'll be back soon with all the different cream cheeses they have in stock (e.g. jalapeño, lox, bacon, walnut-raisin). The staff are very sweet, the line moves quickly, and the prices aren't too bad. All in all, a good bagel place!

  6. I LOVE THIS PLACE. It's right up the street from where I'm staying in Sunnyside, and after moving to NYC and being here a few days, I never thought I'd find such a fabulously priced and fabulous-tasting place. It could be that this was my first New York-style bagel place, but DAMN. They don't mess around here!

My family and I ordered a dozen bagels, plus one more for the road, and they were so kind as to only charge us for the dozen. Not saying if we had to pay for the extra one it would've broken the bank–a dozen here is, like, $8-9? For such great bagels! They even have a variety of homemade cream cheeses. The staff was extremely nice, too, and even though it's small, it doesn't feel crowded. All hail Dave's Bagels!

I'm looking forward to coming here again, because it's AMAZING.

  7. Coming from 1st ave in the East village, have 2 bagel shops below my apt was a luxury on sat mornings when you just need a bagel 🙂  I haven't seen any in Sunnyside, so I googled bagel shops and found this one right across the street from my new apt.  The guys making the wide selection of options take pride in their sandwiches and don't scrimp on ingredients…..I had a bacon, egg white, tomato on a scooped everything and it was great.  3 tomatoes, more than one skimpy egg white and it was just what the Dr. ordered.

Fast and easy.   Great local shop!

  8. Best bagel shop!  Delicious fresh bagels with homemade flavored cream cheeses. My personal favorite is the cinnamon raisin bagel with walnut raisin cream cheese. Not in the mood for a bagel? Then try one of their sandwiches which are also very good!  Prices are every reasonable (3 of us had bagels and drinks for under $15!). Worth the trip!
