DBGB Kitchen and Bar
“The name is a riff off of the Bowery's famed punk legend CBGB, and actually stands for Daniel Boulud Good Burger.”
“The french fries could have been crispier, but the meat overshadowed them.”
“For our burger, we had the Piggie, which made me feel a bit gluttonous, but that's why I skipped lunch, right?”

A lot about my previous review stands, but I am giving DBGB a bump for having some great beer week events.
DBGB is in a great location, the City Center of DC. Quiet atmosphere with modern decorations and great for someome that can do well with a very limited menu. There are only six entrees to choose from, with options that lack variety. The food is a little over priced in that when we left we weren't completely satisfied and still hungry. If you are looking for convenience then this may be the place for you because of the location but for the money you will spend you will definitely be happier at Del Frisco's Steakhouse also located in City Center.

Decent food, below average service
For me, food always takes priority. In that vein, great food always trumps shitty service. Unfortunately the food at DGBG is not good enough to make up for much. It reminds me of that guy we all know who is full of himself but has no real qualities to be cocky about.
We tried the piggie and Frenchie burgers. Both were solid burgers with various forms of cheese, pork, and toppings to accompany. For 2 bucks, you can substitute any side for the fries. Te broccoli rabe and fries weren't worth mentioning, good or bad.
The salmon was decent, but a small portion for the nearly 30 dollar price tag that accompanies it.
The hostess was very friendly. The waitress was not rude in any fashion. That's about the only kind words I can come up with for her. Curt, cold, and impatient would be the more accurate description.
A decent vibe doesn't make DGBG worth returning to.
4/2/2016 – I came for the Beef Beast Feast (which we needed to make a reservation for in advance) with my family – a group of 8 of us. We met at the very crowded, but well stocked and served bar. Once we were all there we were seated right away in a private-ish table. The service was excellent, it truly was the highlight of my meal. We ended up ordering a bottle of bourbon and a few bottles of wine – they provided the mixers. The appetizers were very good – I really enjoyed the salad – I was thinking that this experience could be something special. Onto the meat – as a whole I was underwhelmed by the meat – maybe I built it up in my mind? The roast came cooked a nice medium rare but was ice cold to the touch. The broccoli rabe that accompanied it was good enough, but I've had much better. Dessert was interesting when they set the baked Alaska on fire. The service was top notch, but I left our meal feeling like something was missing (this is highly unusual for me for these types of experiences). Bottom line – in a city, where for what we paid for this dinner, you can have a variety of culinary adventures I don't see myself returning to this restaurant.
So let's start with the service that I encountered. Definitely needs work for the type of restaurant they portray. I felt neglected during my entire meal. Was only approached to get my order and that was it. I had to get the manager to serve me and bring me the dessert menu.
Now let's move onto the food. This is where it gets good. I ordered the hyped up frenchie burger and it was pretty good but nothing that blew me away. But what did blow me away was the duck. My friend ordered it and it was by far the best duck (non Asian Peking style) I've ever had. It was seasoned perfectly and the skin was so crunchy and the meat was so tender it was aimeizing. I can't stop talking about how good the darn duck was. I can't wait to come back for it and hopefully this time the service would be better.
P.S. She came to grab the check from us faster than coming to take our order. Not to mention how the whole night others were waiting on her. Smh!
The Story: Came here for my birthday this past weekend and WOW what an experience!
Food:
They specialize in sausages. My party of 3 started off with a seafood tower. Everything was amazing and fresh. We also ordered beef tartare as an app along with Foie Gras. I was expecting an egg yolk with my tartare but they eliminated that extra ingredient a while ago but the kitchen was nice enough to add a quail egg yolk anyway!
My boyfriend really enjoyed the Foie Gras.
We ordered sausages for the mid course. Unfortunately I did not care much about it 🙁
For entrees we ordered the lamb, salmon and duck. My brothers duck dish outshines the other entrees. It was perfection – tender, juicy and flavorful.
My lamb was decent but I'm still thinking about that one bite of duck I stole from my brother's plate.
The star of the show was the Baked Alaska at the end. I enjoyed the touch of sherbet in the middle of all the creaminess.
Price: eh… based on what we ordered above it was about $150 per person.
Service: Service is excellent. All plates were set down at the same time. Waters were filled when needed and they made special accommodations when we wanted the egg in our beef tartare. Our waiter Flo was on point and awesome!
Parking & Finding the Place: Located in Lower East side Manhattan. There is a parking lot a block from the establishment.
Additional Thoughts/Tips: They also have whole roasted pig. I need to do this for my bridal shower =O
Delicious!!! Came here for a friend's graduation party and we sat in the back at what I think was the chef's table. I had the salmon, which was absolutely flawless; very tender with perfect, crispy skin. Also had the molten chocolate cake for dessert, which was good, but not quite as melty as I like. I'm giving four stars because of the cake and the room was especially loud; I think they should do something about the acoustics in there. But, really, it was a wonderful dinner and a wonderful place.
This review is for the pig feast.
Drinks: eh. Maybe I spend too much time at mixology bars, but seems like they're trying to pass themselves off as having legit cocktails and… not so much. Also $18 for a drink is steep so it better be freaking good (it wasn't). Tried two different ones, both too much on the sweet side. Ended up switching to an old fashioned at the end and it was subpar as well. So drink wise, thumbs down.
Service: Not bad, but I felt I had to wave my waitress over vs her coming by at appropriate times for said drinks.
Food: Honestly, everything was pretty tasty except the star of the show which was kinda average.
Starters: Salad with very good goat cheese and some flat bread that was well thought out flavor wise. Good start to the meal. We also ordered the sausage add on which I recommend. It's a bit over priced in my opinion ($15 bucks a person extra) but it was quite tasty and you get 4 different styles to try. But think about it. 4 of us did it. $60 bucks on sausage. I can get a shit ton of high quality sausage from a butcher for that amount. W/e, this place has $$$ on it for a reason.
Wilbur: looks pretty epic as it comes out on giant platter pre carve. At the very start of the meal I asked if the skin was crispy. I got a confused answer which kinda sounded like a yes, but what that really meant was that it comes with cracklins on the side. So, as other reviews have mentioned, the skin is decidedly NOT crispy and is slightly rubbery, which to me is a crime. FBI statistics show violent crime is down, but that pig skin is definitely an outlier. It's stuffed with sausage as well. It wasn't bad, just not something I'd recommend or want to revisit. Comes with a slightly sweet reduction sauce which was alright. They will carve up the head for you as well which is nice. Some of our more adventurous eaters actually ate the eyeballs. Not my kinda thang tho. That'll do pig, that'll do.
Sides: Came with string beans which were really tasty, and fingerling potatoes which seemed super dense/ heavy/ perhaps slightly undercooked.
Dessert: Baked Alaska (name makes me think of seafood for some reason). I'm not a big dessert person, but this thing was pretty tasty. Thumbs up.
Overall, I'd skip this as the point of the meal was the pig which was underwhelming. I mayyy consider coming back though to try the tomahawk steak dinner option.
