Upon my immediate entrance I inquired for my party to meet a good friend's endearing and most humble presence, which the hostess warmly directed me with great promptness without question and without abject pain.
Nodino al Tartufo at $49.00 for grilled 24 oz. center cut Veal Chop Porterhouse, white wine truffle sauce, shaved black truffles, wrapped asparagus with Prosciutto and Fontina cheese is extremely tender and immensely juicy for my good friend. The Veal is nearly three inches in depth and wholesome flavorable, NOT dry to the bone. The Risotto Pescatora at $29.00 for Carnaroli rice in a seafood stew of shrimps, clams, chopped calamari, crab meat, lobster broth, touch tomato, fresh parsley was a good portion without empowering the rice and was very flavorable for my entree. Our shared Calamari (not fried, nor breaded) daily special was a refreshing light without dryness.
While a recommended Shiraz wine complimented my meal brings further merriment for my time here. The quality of food is all that is described for the price. This is not your standard bar grub for DeGrezia produce wholesome substantial concoctions and service is coined excellence for attentiveness with respect to cordial manner and informative with much patience displayed in communication and body language. Elegantly honed. The staff serve patrons with sprightly eagerness, albeit the daily specials is rehearsed, but not recited in monotone expressive vocals. Unlike other snobby upscale restaurants, DeGrezia do not quickly usher patrons to be ejected as they invite patrons to be immerse in the overall atmosphere for an elegant calming dinning experience. Italian cuisine at its finest emitting great joy to dine in the company of a good sincere friend who sincerely regarded me as a deserving woman much appreciative manner. San Pellegrino is provided as table water. A station for water and wine is visible by the facilities' entrance.
A customized Dollie for coffee, tea and a plate of small cookies is letterpress with DeGrezia Ristorante's name. I highly recommend dressy attire (Men: jacket with dress shoes, and ladies dress top and skirt or formal pants, no sneakers). DeGrezia Ristorante is an upscale dressy and romantic restaurant for a one time splurge. Package mints are available at the hostess credenza table along with a business card and private party brochure. No comment on the private party room(s) as I did not see nor dined in.
A single facility for each gender are present which the ladies is extremely clean, homelike very inviting atmosphere with potpourri in warm lighting. A half partition discreetly mask the toilet as an eye sore upon one's initial entrance appearing of a home, not a bathroom.
Absolutely 5 Star everything!! I don't know how you can not give Degrezia 5 stars in every category. The Food was spectacular, every single dish, Boar, Duck, Pasta, Foie Gras, Filet Mignon, Amazing, Amazing, Amazing. I'm making this a regular stop when I'm in New York City. No idea about the bad ratings from 2010 but this place has spectacular food and is great for business as well as romantic lunches or dinners.
First of all, I have to say it was very good food and good service. To be honest we would not ever have stopped by if it was not for the groupon special. We stopped by on Saturday night and it was very happening among older crowd. Really old school decor and ambience – more like a grandma's house stale than classical chic which is a pity I have to say. I think the ambience was a really stale for my taste considering it is not a budget dining place. Do not take a girl to impress if you still consider yourself somewhat hip and young. It seemed like a place that it lived its time and did not age well with time… I am not even sure some parts of the restaurant with low ceiling meets the building code limit. Needs an upgrade to survive this generation.
Old school Italian. Amazing food and great service. The angel hair pasta with lobster was incredible as well as the veal milanese. The espresso was great too. Certainly worth checking out.
Came here for a girls night dinner. What a gem and hidden Italian restaurant. Food was great. Service was good. We caught up for hours and shared appetizers. UPloaded some photos of the dishes we had. Overall, good italian food, nothing out of the ordinary and would come back. ATmosphere seem a bit more dark and romantic. Not necessarily a place for girl conversations where we giggled like we were in high school again. lol
Beautiful restaurant tucked away below 50th St. with strong old-world Italian flare. Everything detail in dining experience aimed for perfection and authentic Italian style.
The wine list was long and impressive. We ordered a cab on the dryer side which paired really well with our meal. They brought out a variety of fresh warm breads with three different spreads.
We started with the burrata for two, which was presented as a whole and fashionable reassembled onto two separate plates with precision and outstanding presentation.
For the main course, I ordered the Pollo Ripieno. The formation of the chicken, variety of mushroom, buttery spinach, fontina cheese and prosciutto San Daniele was impressive and unique. The fish was served with a generous pour of delicious Marsala wine sauce along with creamy mashed potatoes.
After dinner, the waiter brought out a selection of complementary desserts and drinks. After we finished our limoncello, we were on our way, but sad to leave.
The atmosphere was wonderful and relaxing. The place lacked confused tourists whining about prices. The pace of the service was perfect for a party with the intentions of enjoying a classical Italian meal.
Had a business meeting down in the private "cellar". The food was very good Prepared with care by a kitchen that knows their Italian stuff. Gotta appreciate that at the very least. Can't speak to much else in the restaurant other than the room i was in and the prompt service we received. The only odd thing I will note is the fact that several deliveries came through our room on the way to the kitchen while we were having our meeting. But hey, NY real estate is tough and they are using every square foot they can. Go for the food, it's quite good.
