I really enjoyed the items i ordered. I would have preferred the moo ping to come with a dipping sauce. The moo nam tok had too little broth in it. But overall i would definitely go back here.
I love that it's a cute little family place. Mom, dad, daughters, sons, cousins, whatever are all there watching karaoke music videos of Thai artists and old American pop music.
On to the food, we started with the Crispy Mussels pancakes. It tastes sort of like a Taiwanese oyster pancake but crunchier. The sauce gave it a spicy and sweet taste.
My entree was the Yum Dek Sen. It's made like a Papua salad except with instant noodles, crispy pork bits, and seafood. Be careful of this one. Looks very pleasant but leaves you on fire. It's pretty spicy. Our waiter was laughing at me then handed me sugar and vinegar to dilute.
The small gem surprised us with bursts of flavor so. Each dish was made with such love and care. The wings seem to have some corn meal in the batter so it was extra crispy. Both the noodle dishes were amazing! Love this little spot!
I have tried this place twice since my initial review. The service has been nonexistent. The waiters don't check on you and they don't even bring utensils. It's hot in the restaurant as the AC unit doesn't keep the room at a moderate temperature. I feel like service is a vital part of the restaurant experience.
Came here tonight with some friends and ordered family style! It was super humid today in NY, and they did not have their AC on which made the meal a lot less enjoyable. The food we had was pretty spicy as well, which made it somewhat of a chore to finish in the humidity.
We ordered 2 appetizers, 3 entrees, and 2 desserts for 4 people which we all finished. No food wasted! Bill came to about 20 dollars each person. Pretty good deal if you ask me!
We ordered the following
Curry Puff
Crispy Mussel Pancake
Chicken Kao Soy
Kee Mao
Rad Nar
Thai Ice Tea lover
Milo Roti
Lots of complex flavors, lots of white pepper, and super spicy!
The Curry Puff was the least appetizing in my opinion.
Most of the items we ordered were pretty spicy except Rad Nar. Therefore if you cannot handle spicy, be aware. Especially the Rad Nar, so many flavors but also it packs a punch with the many jalapenos thrown in there.
The desserts, we decided not to get the colorful crepe cake but instead we got the Thai Ice Tea lover. The cake, itself did not really taste like Thai Ice Tea, instead it was just super creamy in my opinion. However, the ice cream, was super yummy, and you can really taste the Thai Tea Flavor.
Milo Roti. Super unexpected how good this was. The have hot Milo, which is poured over vanilla ice cream and fried triangular roti. Asian version of chocolate molten lava cake!
I would recommend this place and would love to come back to try to the items on the menu.
