  1. Never knew there was one in the city. I loved eating here when I was in Albany for college. Now that this one is near my house I'm excited.

I stuck to the grand slam for 9 bucks and it was very good. The place is big however it can be pretty cold due to the setup of it.

The service was okay. Not horrendous but during the moments they weren't needed they were there and when they were needed I couldn't find them.

Ill come back though because I am a fan of Dennys.

Seated us quick, changed our seat to help my friend and I be warmed within 5 minutes.

    AMAZING HOT CHOCOLATE. Strong Coffee.

  2. 2.5 stars – only because once the food actually came it was pretty good.

    What went wrong:
-AC was blasting in the bar area on 1/1/15 (not the best day for that…)
-water came at the end of our meal (60-70 min after placing order)
-waited 30 minutes to get coffee
-no utensils or napkins when food came
-manager working (Ray) was a SERIOUS douche lord. He told us we couldn't sit in the bar area bc there was no bartender, but there were people eating in that area. He told us the wait was 30 minutes, but there were at least 6 open tables. He kept telling us that our 'waitress would be with us once we sat down'. When we complained abt the AC he said it doesn't work in the bar area & to sit down.
    -turkey bacon was undercooked
Breakfast sandwich came out wrong & was acknowledged but not remedied
-syrup came about 10 minutes after our pancakes & waffles came
    -table was wobbly :/

    What went right:
-waitress was very nice and accommodating (Cintrishia)
    -food was good

Overall, I recommend it if you don't have to be anywhere for the next 2.5-3 hours.

  3. Ended up here after a work event…not the kinda place I would normally frequent but I gave it a shot…bad idea. Just bad…here's the story

The breakfast all day concept is cute, which is why they get 2 stars….but

I don't eat pork or red meat due to religious and personal beliefs and all the breakfast options contain pork bacon or sausage (no turkey option)

They don't have turkey burgers (sorry I don't want a veggie burger outside of Shake Shack)

So I was stuck with the chicken tenders…they were hard and cold and served with lukewarm fries.

The service was also really slow on a rainy Tuesday afternoon…

The only part of the evening I enjoyed was the mango smoothie I had.

Sorry never again, Denny's never again

  4. Unfortunately I have to update this review and not in a positive way. The staff is friendly but otherwise the service is terrible. Whether you are dining in or taking out the service is extremely slow. Every time I go, I try to  call my order in ahead of time. Now aside from that EVERY SINGLE TIME I place an order to go I am missing something from my order. One time it was fries another time is was sauce ect ect… Its happened more than a handful of times so I can officially say check your bags before you leave! Just recently I placed an order to take out meanwhile unknowingly  my food came out and was just sitting there. The girl  who took my order got off her shift and didn't give me my food before she left . I watched her punch out while  I'm sitting there thinking my order isn't ready when it was, real nice! The breakfast is great. The lunch and dinner are sub par. I will still go here but I really hope that they fix up the service.

  5. There's a reason chain restaurants tend to not do well in Manhattan – at the risk of sounding snobbish, I'll say the clientele usually does not mesh well with the brand image of places like Denny's. Before you start hating though, let me tell you I'm probably one of Applebee's biggest fans and I'll be damned if I don't have a hankering for some IHOP pancakes every now and then. I had never gone to a Denny's before though and having it open up in right in my stomping grounds only piqued my curiosity.

Let me tell you though, from a foodie's perspective, most of the dining experience was largely terrible. The waitstaff is clearly inexperienced (although they do try), nobody knows what ingredients are in menu items, and worst of all, the food is NOT good. And this is my informed opinion after dining here TWICE – yes, that's right, I gave them a second chance.

The first time I had the "Build Your Own" Grand Slam with pancakes, egg whites, yogurt, and hashbrowns. My idea of well-made pancakes are those that are light and fluffy, but hearty at the same time. These pancakes had no substance to them whatsoever and tasted like they were made from a box of powdered mix. The yogurt was similarly too thin and overly sugary. Eggs? Watery. Only the hashbrowns were decent.

The second time I had the Fit Fare veggie skillet, but asked them to add cheddar cheese (completely negating the Fit Fare, but whatevs). A sore, bland, disappointment. The veggies had ZERO seasoning and the cheese was only minimally sprinkled into the scrambled eggs. I had to dump 2 small ramekins of salsa into the skillet in order to have any sort of flavor.

The only reason for the extra star is because of their delicious Oreo milkshake. Not sure how anybody could mess that up, and I did have to wait quite a while for a straw to drink it with, but hey, I feel nice.

  6. First time going to a Denny's, I was excited. First thought while walking in at 9pm Friday night, are they closing? It took 8min for us to be shown to a table because the hostess wasn't where she was suppose to be. Upon ordering, it took rather long for the food to arrive considering there were only 3 tables of order going out. Although are waitress was really nice and gentle, she saved this review from being a one star. Great service from her, overall service hmm it took 15 min for my drink to come when the bar was behind us.

  7. As tourists in New York my friend and I decided to visit the only Denny's near us since we missed a little of our home.

First, the service took forever. Having decided in no time what we wanted to eat no waitress was around to take our order. Then, they were unfamiliar with the menu which really surprised me. Food took forever to come out even with a Thursday afternoon and an empty restaurant. They had no ranch! Plus they couldn't make garlic fries?

I was very shocked by the experience of this upscale looking Denny's. I expected more. This place would have gotten one star if our food options weren't available. Eat elsewhere!

  8. The first Denny's in Manhattan complete with a full craft cocktail bar and a $300 Dom Perignon Grand Slam breakfast option. The answer is a big ol' "DUH!" that I had to check it out as soon as humanly possible.

I have so many memories of Denny's and most of those involve adolescence, my early 20s, and severe intoxication. That said, it was quite strange voluntarily entering a Denny's as a completely sober 32 year old at 10:00am on a Tuesday morning. But for Manhattan's first operation with bells and whistles folks in Topeka, Kansas could never fathom, it becomes an event that's almost larger than life itself.

Once you've snapped pictures of the exposed brick, the Edison bulbs, the Brooklyn Bridge mural that adorns the back wall, and the tap that pours Prosecco on demand at the front bar… it's onto the food and that's where you remember you're actually in a Denny's and not some hip Lower East Side gastropub like Fat Radish or Schiller's Liquor Bar.

Our table had an array of items – blueberry pancakes, omelettes, scrambles, etc… If you'd have had us undergo a blind taste test and ask were the food we were consuming came from, I'm almost certain we'd all respond with "Denny's" in a resounding fashion. It just is what it is – mediocre diner food that's become ubiquitous in strip mall towns far and wide. It is what it is, but the fun of this tongue in cheek experience almost outweighs the fact that you're actually putting breakfast from Denny's in your mouth.

Long story short – you should try it. You're going to immediately wish you ate somewhere else, but as Drake Says, you only YOLO once.
