  1. amazing steak, and get the burrata cheese appetizer. So creamy and delish!

  2. I agree with the 5 star reviews below me; we had an excellent steak dinner here last Sunday night! The reservation was made easy through the Yelp application (there was also a text message reminder to confirm the reservation) and we were seated immediately in the center of the lively, yet well-furnished restaurant. I admired the framed photographs (both vintage and new) on the walls. The host, waiter, manager, and servers were all very attentive, considerate and professional.

We were very impressed that our waiter was able to memorize an extensive list of specials and other available options for that night. He was very prompt and we received our porterhouse steak for two (medium-rare) right away, including our three side dishes (creamed corn, creamed spinach, mashed potatoes). All were very savory, delicious and balanced perfectly. The steak was cooked to perfection and melted in our mouths. We only needed a butter knife to cut the steak into slices, but the manager was kind enough to voluntarily give us steak knives. Their professionalism and promptness is one of their specialties and we are glad we went here instead of Peter Luger Steakhouse.

Plus, the sangria with fresh fruit, house red wine and chocolate mousse cake helped make our experience here one of the best ways to end a weekend. We will be returning again and spread this superior experience with our family and friends over Thanksgiving break!!

  3. We had a super nice experience here. This place was quiet and unassuming both inside and out but their meat was really good. It was cooked well (I had prime rib and my wife had the filet) and the sides were fantastic. I love a good baked potato with a steak.

I would check this place out if you're looking for a good steak. It's fantastic.

  4. Not bad, not bad at all…

I came here on the glowing Yelp reviews as well as having a GroupOn. This place is often mentioned in comparison to Peter Lugers (understandably so) and I think it very well holds its own. First thing I noticed walking into the place is how homey the place felt…it really feels like your eating in someone's dining room at home. Nice wooden floors and very simplistic decor – the place is super casual too…lacking any pretention you might often see at high end steakhouses. All the servers were incredibly nice and the service was attentive.

On to the food…we started with the pear and arugula salad which was big enough to share and was delicious. The grilled portobello mushroom with spinach appetizer was excellent as well, albeit slightly on the salty side. For comparison purposes (i.e. against Peter Lugers), my dining companion and I got the porterhouse for two. We started on the edge and worked proximally; the initial pieces we ate on the outside were a bit dry and we were kind of let down, but as we moved closer to the center, the morsels got better and better! At its best parts, the meat was tender, juicy, with perfectly rendered fat, and just the right amount of saltiness. The sides were very good as well – specifically the mashed potatoes and creamed corn. I actually liked them much better than the sides I've had at Lugers.

All in all, great food, homey atmosphere, and excellent service at this steakhouse. I think in regards to the steak itself, I'd give a slight edge to Lugers, but that's not really a knock. I do like the sides at DeStefano's better. Would definitely recommend!

  5. Wow. I absolutely love this Italian steak house. Anytime I can eat broccoli rabe and a filet mignon at the same time deserves an A++

This place makes you feel like you are in an Italian-American grandmother's living room!! Of course in the best way possible. There are so many family photos posted all throughout the restaurant. I love the crazy amounts of black and white photos I saw here. Very nice touch.
Came here on my birthday and I am so glad I did! This place is fairly new (about 8 years old) and super cozy. The staff is young, very attentive and kind. The owner is so involved with his restaurant that he was the one who took our order! (Which I had no idea until after my meal.) He explained to me that at DeStefano's they can cook your steak to however you prefer. I had no idea that medium rare had options like medium rare plus which means that your steak will be medium rare but more on the medium side! We ordered the 12 oz filet mignon, broccoli rabe and mashed potatoes. When I saw my food and plate setting I was taken aback. Where the heck is the serrated steak knife with the handle?! Nope. No steak knives?? FUGHETTABOUT IT!!!  The meat so tender you cut it with a butter knife.

This is a very paisan feeling place, no suits and ties just their phrase, "Buon Cibo, Buon Vino, Buon Amici." (Good food, good wine, good friends.) We ended our meal with an almond cake which was soooooooo DIVINE!!! I've been to so many steakhouses, ordered desert and got the same old tired song i.e. a chocolate lava cake. But the almond cake was so good I ended up eating the WHOLE DAMNED THING!!!!!

The prices were right too, two steaks, two sides, dessert and a bottle of wine came out to around 75$pp.

Afterwards we bumped into the owner and talked to him and his 4 year old daughter! The owner lives in the same building as his restaurant. I LOVE that the most about DeStefano's. The owner is so committed to his business he lives in it! That is commitment my friend. It's a family owned gig and I hope nothing but the best for DeStefano's for years to come. Can't wait to come back here again next year for my birthday.

    Ci Vediamo DeStefano's!

  6. Steak is delicious here but that bacon is amazing. I really like how it has a sweet glaze. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water. The steak was good but I still haven't been absolutely blown away by steak yet. Will definitely come back however for that bacon.

  7. 3.5 stars rounded down.

We found this steakhouse through yelp and trip adviser and thought we should give it a try. We have dined at Peter Luger and Benjamin's steakhouse (in Manhattan) on prior trips so wanted to try something new.

I will have to say that steak-wise, I actually prefer the two other steakhouses I frequent.  The sides we got, Brussel sprouts and garlic mashed potatoes, were good but nothing spectacular about it.

For dessert, we got the lemoncello cake. It was ok. There was a slight lemon flavor but I was expecting a little more of it.

The service however, was great. Everyone was friendly and gave us great their honest recommendations when we asked for it.

  8. We got there pretty late close to the closing time and still the service was really great. I have tried different steak places around the city and hands down the best rib-eye steak I have had so far. When you are paying over 50 dollars per steak you have high hopes and rib-eye steak was definitely worth it. I would definitely go back!
