  1. My favorite coffee in Williamsburg so far. The natural lighting, wall of plants, and many tables make it perfect to work on your laptop, or get some reading done. I look forward to it whenever I can spend an hour there. The customers are usually people on their laptops or mothers with their babies.

My favorite are the Aromaticas, $3.25, because it seems to be the only non-caffeine option. It is essentially fruit tea that comes hot or cold. The hot version taste much better, and you can eat the fruit afterwards!

Participant of the CUPS app, which is how I found this shop in the first place.

  2. This is one of the most comfortable, aesthetically-pleasing coffee houses I've been to in recent memory.  The building is typically Williamsburg- industrial space with brick walls and steel beams aplenty.  Fun fact- the building was originally a meatpacking plant, and was eventually converted to a woodshop, before its current incarnation.

You enter through a narrow hallway with floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over the high-end bean roaster.  The hallway opens up to a huge open space with a skylight that covers a majority of the ceiling.  A collection of plants (including some of the type that the owner sources his beans from) blankets the wall opposite the coffee bar.  2-top tables ring the walls, and the center of the room is occupied by an Oriental rug, 2 huge luxurious leather couches, and reclaimed wood bookend tables.  Photos of various Colombian folks, old and young, cover the walls and are for sale.

I started with their honey-glazed croissant, a fresh-squeezed OJ, and the ginger/dates/kiwi/mint iced tea.  The best out of the 3 was the tea, as today's weather was typical for NYC in August.  Next was the Red Barrel V60 pour-over.  Earthy without being overwhelming.  That's a good thing.  The café was largely full by the time I arrived at 11am on a Saturday, and the only seats left were at the standing table against the wall, where the sun from the skylight caused me to constantly be keeping an eye out for a cooler spot to sit in.  Also, the tall chairs at that table have these meta frames that make for uncomfortable sitting.

All in all, I would definitely come back here and being friends, but I's definitely recommend getting here earlier rather than later, if comfortable sesting is important for you or you plan on staying awhile.

  3. When you live in a city of 8 million people.

When your parents want to visit you.

When they only want to stay in Wburg.

When you are like, 'Wburg is the Meatpacking of BK.'

    When they are like, '…'

When you go and visit them anyway.

    When you miss the ferry.

    When you want more coffee.

When stubby fist or chunky hand or whatever is closed.

    When you walk to Devocion.

When you arrive and order a muffin, an iced coffee, and an espresso.

When you partner's ex-husband is doing his work at the coffee shop.

When you have to shake hands with your partner's ex-husband with parents looking on.

When you have to wait five of the longest minutes of your life waiting for your iced coffee and espresso.

    When you finally leave.

When you exchange meaningful glances with your partner.

When you think about the 7,999,999 people in the city and laugh.

    Jesus Christ.

When you catch the next ferry.

  4. If I were giving stars based off of interior and overall atmosphere, it deserves 5/5. However, I'm giving an unbiased review based off of my first experience.

I've never seen such a beautiful coffee shop in all of the states and countries I've traveled to. From the high ceilings, furniture, layout, and windows, it's simply breathtaking. It has major Cali vibes. It felt like a millionaire's living room.

Aside from the interior design, they have a good coffee menu and standard pastries. And there are outlets!!! Yes! Not many but still. Like many people mention, there's no WiFi over the weekend. I support the owner's decision to make room for those who want an actual coffee break. If you need WiFi, head over to Freehold.

The employee that took my order was extremely cordial and friendly, and unlike any service I've received in a while. I really appreciate that and that alone, makes me want to come back.
On the other hand, one of the other employees wasn't as friendly, which is fine. But it definitely took away from my experience.

  5. I wish the baristas were a bit more thorough in explaining the menu, especially when you're not years and years into being established, but whatever~

    The coffee was great though!

And so is the interior- spacious and not bad for studying, though if a noisy child were around, the noise does definitely reverberate through the space.

  6. Very nice!!
Location: This coffee shop is bit far from the center of williamsburg. It takes a few minute walk to get here. The place does have a speakeasy feel to it, especially with the spacious room for study, vintage couches grass wall. The ceiling is also open with natural lighting coming in, so it is a perfect study spot!

Also, they are roasting their own coffee beans … So you can watch how they do it.

Coffee: I ordered cold brew and I really enjoyed it! Like another yelper stated:" the ice coffee was divine! Devocion is known for brewing their coffee in house, so you can really taste the uniqueness of the coffee beans. "
    i truly agree with it!

    Price: it's not pricy.

    Service: staff here are okay.
Anyway, this place is a hidden gem and I would love to keep coming back here if it was easier to get to.
A great place for the local people

  7. The ambiance here makes it one of my favorite coffee shops I've been to. Wow. It's incredible.

Coffee was good and their homemade, gluten-free granola was outstanding!

  8. Sometimes you want something quintessentially New York from your coffee break, but let's be honest, a lot of the time you want to GTFO of the city and have some peace and quiet for a hot second. Perhaps more than any other coffee shop, Devocion is like a mini vacay. From the bright skylight, which seems to make the place warm even in the dead of winter, to the lush greenery and comfortable seating, Devocion is straight out of cosmopolitan South America. In fact, the first think I thought of when I stepped through the doors was Pergamino, the beyond hip coffee spot in Medellin.

As far as the coffee is concerned, the cold brew is strong and mighty, and if you're looking for something a little less bone rattling, an iced latte (in my case, with almond milk) was an almost dessert-like treat. Speaking of which, they also have affogatos and floats made with Davey's ice cream, which is just so…I can't even…talk about feeling like you're on vacation. Their fruit refreshers are like iced tea taken to the next
