  1. Dhoom is a more upscale Indian restaurant than your typical fare, although it suffers from a bad location. We came here with the groupon, which included an appetizer, a order of naan, two entrees and two alcoholic drinks.

The appetizer was a spicy shrimp dish, which I think was my favorite part of the meal. It was very delicious and well presented, although the appetizer itself was only four shrimps. For entrees, we had the sag paneer and chicken tikka masala. The sag was also very good, although pretty much the same from the other Indian restaurants I've been to. The chicken wasn't very appetizing and the sauce tasted too tomatoey, basically like they poured Campbell's tomato soup onto the chicken. For dessert, we hadn't the gulab jamun, which was the typical from other restaurants.

While service was very attentive and the restaurant itself was nice, as mentioned earlier it does suffer from a lackluster location. Also, because they seem to want to be more upscale than the typical Indian restaurant, plates are presented much more fancy but the amount of food is much smaller. Each order of gulab was two balls for $5. That's pretty unreasonable just for putting it on a rectangular plate, equidistant away from each other and with a piece of mint on top of each ball.

I wish I could like the restaurant more, as I always feel bad giving a three or lower for places with genuinely good service but the food isn't good enough to justify the size and price.

  2. Totally a fan. The service was great. ambiance was good. food was fantastic.

We ordered a lot and it only came out to $70? I don't know about you but whenever I go to an indian spot the bill is always outrageous– so I can deal with $70!

    Food:
    – Cumin rice — nice change compared to always getting the plain regular basmati rice.
    – Garlic nnan– can you ever go wrong with this?
    – chicken tikka – probably one of the best I've tried. Such rich flavor and the chicken was very tender
    – cauliflower/peppers vegetarian dish — I would pass on this. I felt like I kept bitting sand or some hard grainy thing… it was weird.
    – mango lassi – a must.
    – chaat (app) — very little portions sadly. but awesome nonetheless
    – samosa (great texture- crispy outside and great flavor inside)

Definitely recommend! location is a little weird cause its like on the side on the highway?

  3. This place has high reviews, and my bride to be wanted to have a nice dinner for her bachelorette weekend. She's vegetarian and gluten intolerant, and Indian cuisine works wonderfully for her needs.

Reservations were simple and done online; they send a confirmation email perhaps the next day. The food and atmosphere are excellent. They go with a Bollywood theme, having stars on the walls, and MTV India on the TV. The area where they prepare naan is surrounded with glass so that you can watch it being made. We ordered several dishes to share with the entire table, including:
    Crispy Cauliflower
    Lentil Dumplings
    Spinach Paneer
    Spinach and Corn cakes
    Lentil dal
    Chickpea Masala
    Garlic Naan
    Spinach and Goat Cheese Naan

My favorite dishes were the cauliflower and the dal.The cauliflower came in a spicy sauce that wasn't too spicy, and the flavor shone through. The lentils in the dal had a sweetness that worked so well with naan….mmm…

I only had two criticisms: one, it's not in a great location. You have to enter 3 where cars are speeding along to get into the parking lot. Secondly, we were done eating long before I managed to track someone down to ask for the check and boxes to go. I'd have thought they'd want us out faster themselves.

  4. It's a nice restaurant with great service and atmosphere. It has the Bollywood theme to it.  Came here on a Groupon and it was completely worth it.

The food is delicious. My husband loves the Undi and chana saag. He states that it tastes the way his mom cooks it. I didnt have a good experience on the malai kofta – the kofta ball is a paneer texture, which is not suppose to be like that, but the saice was good. The chicken tikka masala was great. My kids love the food n of course atmosphere. It's a kid friendly environment, which is a saving grace.  The peshwari naan, is excellent and should not be passed on, a must get. The Kulfi is a hit on our table, jist pure sweetness – kids loved it.

Thank you for making it a great experience for all of us. It's hard to go out with our little kids for they can be loud and disruptive.  Our waiter, which we have had twice on the 2 occasion we have been there has been excellent, superb and awesome. The waitstaff was purely heaven and patient with us.

Oh, don't forget the Mango mojito…..u will love it…..i wanted to order more glass if i weren't having to put little ones to bed…lol

  5. Have passed by this place many times but never gave it a try until I saw it listed on Groupon.
For $55 you get an order of naan, an appetizer, two entrees, one dessert and 2 glasses of either house wine or a cocktail.
You walk into a very Bollywood themed decorated restaurant. Music playing but not too loud so you are still able to hear each other talk.
Service was excellent. Out server (Antonio?) must have sensed it was our first time eating Indian food and he quickly explained everything and even offered great suggestions on what to order.
Starter: shenyang cauliflower. Tastes almost like sweet and sour chicken. Very yummy!
Entrees: goat birayi: it came in a bowl mixed with rice and covered with naan. Don't let the small bowl fool you! There is so much food in there. It was extremely spicy so if you don't like that, beware. It was just perfect for me!
My b/f had the chicken madras, chicken cooked with coconut, chilies and spices which came with lentils, saffron rice and yogurt on the side. The yogurt is excellent for cutting the spice when you feel your mouth is on fire ;-).
Dessert: chowringhee rasmalai: cheese dumplings in reduced milk. Not too sweet and very different from anything I've tasted but still very good.
    Drink: Indian punch.

  6. One of the finest Indian cuisine I have found in this area. Such a brilliant concept of incorporating the whole Bollywood theme into the decor of the restaurant. The interior lightings were just so perfect, making the atmosphere so cozy and lounge-y.

We came here on a Friday night to get dinner before a movie at the Kerasotes. It was quite a search due to the limited dining options in Secaucus, but I'm so glad I came across Dhoom on my search. Excellent customer service from the seating hostess as well as our server. Wide selection of drinks and they have some great original cocktails on the menu. I totally got hooked to the Indian punch! We ordered samosas for appetizer and chicken curry accompanied with rice and naan. All of which was super delicious.

Just some tips: one entree and one order of rice are quite enough for 2 people. If you come here in a group, I'd definitely recommend ordering few different things to be shared 😉

  7. Been here twice. Food is good. We usually ask for spicing up the food and they take a good care of that .

I was also there for the restaurant week. The entree portions were good but they served just one piece of chicken tikka as applitizer and just one gulab jamun in desert. It really looked odd to see just one tikka . one gulab jamun in huge plates.

I also find the prices to be bit on higher side !!

  8. Delivery took forever. It took em at least 1.5 hours.
Delivery guy came, and nonchalantly dropped off the food.  No apologies, nothing. I wished I did not pre-tip while ordering.

Food was cold.  Roti was cold.

May have been delicious if it arrived on time, but we will never know.
