Dim Sum Go Go

“I recently went here for dimsum over the weekend because the line at Gold Unicorn was so long and I was pleasantly surprised!”

“Some of our favorites were the Shrimp Rice Dumpling, Mushroom Dumpling, Shrimp and Chive Dumpling, and the Duck Dumpling.”

“Much better than Jing Fong – fresh, the skin on the dumplings wasn't too thick or thin, fillings were delicious, and desserts were great.”

  1. Decent dim sum! Nothing was particularly spectacular, but I think that most of the items are made pretty well. I came on a Saturday morning, and there wasn't a wait! Phew! Granted, I arrived there soon after they opened around 10:30. However, even later in the day, around noon, it still didn't really get too packed. They don't have the carts here. You order off of a menu and they bring the food out to you. I really like smaller, "dainty" char sieu baos with a good "bao to char sieu ratio" — some places skimp on the char sieu and it seems like you're just eating mouthfulls of dough. Not so here! The baked bao is thin and crispy on the outside, the right amount of chewiness to the bread, and a lot of char sieu. I also thought that their har gao was pretty good. Nothing particularly blew me away, but it was really solid dim sum!

  2. This place is quite popular especially on the weekend. There is usually a wait for a table. But the line does go quick since service is relatively quick. You are given a piece of paper and a menu with all the dim sum items numbered and pictured and you just find the corresponding item number on the paper and mark what you want and the quantity. You just hand it off to a server and the little plates start trickling in after a few minutes. Depending on what you order it can be priced differently but its relatively cheap ranging fro ~$4 to ~$6 a plate. Our bill came out to a little over $40 between three people and we were pretty full. Great options although limited, not as many as one of the bigger dim sum places like Golden Unicorn but the little options here still tastes good and authentic.

  3. This isn't a dim sum place that has the carts so if you're looking for that experience this isn't the place.   Because of that, it's a great place to bring a group because it's not as noisy or chaotic.   Dim sum is ordered on a sheet with a good amount of options.

Very friendly staff and quick service.  They also accept credit cards which is always a plus.

  4. This was okay. Certain things on the menu were fantastic (chicken sticky rice, shrimp rolls, steamed veggie dumplings) but our pork gyoza was served cold and our steamed shu mein dumplings also seemed a little dry. I want to come back and try more things, and maybe I'll up the review to four stars, but based on a recent brunch, it's still only three. Definitely get there early – we arrived at 11 with no wait but by the time we left around 12:30 there was a line out the door (and it was a very cold day).

  5. 3+ for an excellent dim sum experience.

The wait on a weekend at Jing Fong and Golden Unicorn was over an hour and the line of white people was around the block!

Dim Sum Go Go was empty so we gave it a try. Great for a SMALL group of people looking for dim sum. Everything we had was great. The food took a long time to come though and the staff was not attentive.

Everything we had was fresh and hot though. Really tasty food. Go here before it becomes the new trendy spot for Yupsters.

  6. Been there a couple of times due to working nearby.  A great spot for lunch quick efficent and very tasty.

I tried a few dishes each time and the sauces that are available work very well with the dumplings, particularly the ponzu style sauce with shrimp dumplings.  The sticky rice was really nice and the vine leaf left some of its imprint on the rice, giving it almost the Greek stuffed vine leaf quality…or maybe it was the sauce.  Not sure but it was a hit for me

All the dumplings i tried were super.  All the dishes were nicely presented and were really hot…  I liked that as the days I was there were really cold NY style days.

I will be back for more of the menu. perhaps with a group so we can taste some of the other delicacies that other tables were sharing.

  7. This isn't your typical style dim sum spot where carts are being pushed around. Everything is made to order, with the paper and pen that's given at the table.

The dim sum is ok, just ok. Nothing to rave about. I've had better with a more traditional vibe. On the bright side, they have a nice selection of vegetarian dim sum. I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to eat here, but I guess, if I'm craving dim sum at a late hour Dim Sum Go Go will do its job.

Will I go back? If I'm drunk, or its late, or starving then sure why not?

  8. The line at Nom Wah was mighty, so we ended up here and thought it was "pretty good". Like others have mentioned there are no carts here – you mark down what you want and it's brought from the kitchen. It's a noisy, fast paced place – they definitely try to get you in/out as quickly as possible.

We sampled 4-5 kinds of dumplings and thought they were plenty good but nothing really stood out. I also ordered roasted pork rolls but ended up with steam buns – meh on those, no flavor. Spring rolls on the other hand were crispy, delicious and not greasy. Prices are definitely cheap – most dumpling orders were in the $4 range.

Decor is pretty dated and the carpet really, really, really needs to be replaced. It's not the best dim sum but it's fine when you don't feel like waiting for one of the other places.
