Good selection of wines (including sake) but prices are kinda high, the owner (or at least he seems like the owner) is not particularly personable, and there is a funky smell in the store…
This wine store had a good layout, walk in, browse by price, grab your bottle and go. I'd say if you're a wine connoisseur, this is probably not the place, but they did have a good selection.
Anyway, for grabbing a quick bottle to take to a BYOB place, this is perfect.
This place was so convenient for the BYOB's around the corner, and we appreciate that! We were going to Thai 51 and we stopped in to grab a bottle for the meal. The prices were reasonable, and the selection was great. The place was completely packed, but that was okay because it meant that there was a great selection. The staff was friendly and helpful, too. The only problem that we had was that they didn't have a rapid cooler for their whites, so it meant that their selection of chilled bottles was very limited. Other than that, it was awesome.
I came to Diplomat with my Living Social deal ($15 for $30). I was a bit disappointed not to find lots of under $12 wines, but there were some. There are lots of $20's and $40s wines.
There was a little confusion about the LS deal, but Christopher, the manager, stepped in and let me get my deal. I appreciated that a lot.

Mmm, but why was "Teen Spirit" playing?
