I work in the area and I tend to come here more and more often since Ridgewood Eats is losing it's edge. I've had their Big Burger or as I like to call it heart attack burger (has everything from onion, bacon to eggs). This past Monday I went with a coworker and had their open melt pulled pork and OMG it was effin amazing, it was too much and I had to take half of it home and it tasted even better, I don't know what they do to their fries but I would say that put a bit of beer batter and BOOM!
A great addition to the Ridgewood area since the options are very limited here.
I ordered breakfast to be delivered from Dish this morning, and I was NOT disappointed. I just moved to the neighborhood and was super pleased when I read the menu for Dish. I ordered some really simple stuff: Pancakes, French toast, and hand cut home fries, but it was all very delicious. Now that I've scrolled through this Yelp page and seen the other things they have to offer, I'm going to have to actually go to this place or have some new and exciting food delivered from here. I'm actually drooling!
The delivery time got pushed back an extra 30 minutes, but that was the only downside of my experience.
Psyched to try this place again.
Oh this hurts, but hopefully this update will serve as a wake up call to the owners and management of Dish.
Visited recently on a Tuesday evening when the restaurant was empty except for my boyfriend, his mother and I.
Strike 1: We were seated at a dirty table. Crumbs everywhere. We had to clean it ourselves. We were not given any napkins.
Strike 2: I was not asked how I wanted my burger cooked and then served a well-done burger. It's one thing to not ask, but it's another to serve someone a well-done patty without them knowing.
Strike 3: We were not given any water, or even asked if we wanted refreshments. We had to ask for water.
Strike 4: The corn pudding has changed since the last time I had it, and seemingly has a cup of brown sugar stirred in. Way too sweet.
Strike 5: The ribs were so tough that we couldn't cut through them. When we told the waitress, she apologized, but made no other attempt to make good on the meal. Fail. At least ask if we'd like something else instead.
The sad part is that I can keep going, but I'll stop here.
I wish Dish the best of luck, but I won't be returning unless there's a change in the way they treat and serve their patrons.
The BBQ was good. It wasn't the best I ever had, but it'll definitely get you good if you're craving BBQ. I ordered the Brisket Sandwich. I wish I got more BBQ sauce on the side. The onion rings and fries were still crispy when they were delivered, which is rare. My friend ordered the Pulled Chicken and Ribs, which he enjoyed. Like I said, it'll do the trick if you're craving BBQ, but it's not my favorite. Also, the coleslaw was bland.
I've ordered for pick up and delivery. The space is rather large, right off Myrtle Avenue in Ridgewood. There are plenty of seats and table service available.
We were warned by a trusted Yelper from the neighborhood about this place. She had a horrible experience, but of course, we needed to see for ourselves. Taste is subjective, right?
The restaurant looks nice enough, both inside and out. While reviewing the menu from the window outside, a customer (or partner/owner/good friend of owner) walked in and told us he highly suggests this place. I wanted some barbeque! The first sign that should have made me turn around was the lack of barbeque aroma, but maybe I was clogged up from my allergies…maybe.
We seated ourselves and though the restaurant is small and it wasn't packed, no server came to greet us. That same customer (or partner/owner/good friend of owner) got up from his seat at the bar (not an alcohol bar) and brought us menus. There were two separate menus, both front-and-back.
We ordered brisket, beef tips, fries, corn on a cob, and mac and cheese. The brisket was absurdly bland and dry, an obvious quickie, not a low-and-slow. Beef tips were better, but not by much. Barbeque sauce was as generic as they come. Corn must have been old. It wasn't bland; it was in complete absence of any flavor. Mac and cheese was also bland, but texture was good. (I like mac and cheese that feels like it is made from actual cheese rather than slimy cheese food product.) The only thing that had flavor was the fries.
We barely touched our food and ended up taking everything to go, thinking maybe we can "jazz it up" when we got home. The customer (or partner/owner/good friend of owner), a very kind man, saw us with the doggy bags and said: "What did you think? I see you're taking it with you. It must have been good if you're taking it with you, right?" Oh, kind man…we couldn't even work up a white lie to be polite. We just smiled. It was the best we could do.
We took the food home and never touched it again.
Came for lunch a while back. I was the only one there, which was kind of weird. The BBQ chicken sandwich was good, not too saucy & the fries were incredibly good. Staff was friendly though I did hear them complaining about lack of customers/business. The bathroom also left something to be desired although the general decor in the place is very nice. If I'm in the area, at least this would be one place I could go without fear of horrible food or worse.
Tough one. Delivery took an hour and a half on a Sunday morning. That's about 30 mins too long.
We were all cranky and over it by the time it got here, but to be fair – the food was very good and they were coming from a little further away than is normal for delivery.
Food was still warm, and tasty. We were expecting everything to be cold and crappy by the time it got here but it was good. Diner good, but good.
Overall with tax, tip, and delivery, we spent $30 for two people.
