I love Grand Central market. I feel very lucky to be working in an area that lets me access this place on a daily basis. One of the stars of the market is Dishes At Home. It's basically the "to go" version of the Dishes restaurant (which is not too far from the station itself). Dishes At Home has a wide variety of pre-prepared foods ranging from wild rice dishes to broccoli rabe to meatloaf. If you wanted to spend the cash, you could put together an entire meal, meat, veggies and carb sides in minutes.
The two dishes I've had at erm…Dishes are their Wild Rice with garbanzo beans and Craisins and their Wheat berry mix with Craisins and mango. Both dishes are frankly super addicting. They taste wonderful and have a great texture. They balance sweet and savory perfectly and make a great lunch dish or side. I highly recommend them both!
Service ranges from excellent to a bit spotty sometimes. If you get someone who's experienced, you're all set. Get someone green and you can expect to repeat your order several times over. Also, the prices can be a bit high here, but if you're shopping in Grand Central Market you should expect that anyhow.
This place is truly awesome. Yes it is pricey but it's Grand Central Market not $1.00 pizza. They have a great selection of fresh nicely prepared high end sandwiches, salads and entrees. Always crowded at lunch but if you go at 2PM it's quick. I love going here for a quick lunch to take back to the office.
